Ideas for the next class updates.
#Divers
Update many divers and give more options for divers to itemize. Right now, Trinity seems like the best option and should be purchased on every champion that uses sheen. Main focus on this update, however, should be the champions that need updates. Many divers are pretty outdated and are in desperate need of some work. Example of a possible roster to update:
Other Divers that could get some work
(since riot considers him a diver now)
An update like this would be best for midseason, since the focus would be on reworks and not system changes, having less game warping effects would be better for mid-season where they matter more.
#Skirmishers
The skirmisher class is one that needs more definement, and one with a lot of champions that need more work. Right now, most of the skirmishers tend to build really tanky instead of building mainly damage, like they should be. System changes should be focused on giving mostly damage based melees, and especially crit melees, access to items while not breaking items that marksmen get. This goal would be similar to that of the assassin update, where armor pen was reworked into lethality so ADC's would abuse it less. Champion updates should be focused on modernizing champions that desperately need it (cough cough Yi cough cough) while reducing the frustration levels on others.
Possible Roster:
Other Choices:
(make her build more damage and less tank)
An update like this is best for midseason, because the focus is on reworks and the skirmisher class is fairly small anyways. Because of that, the systematic changes would need to be smaller.
#Enchanters
You know how riot likes to tweak support and their items every class update to make them more interesting to play, instead of giving them a full on update? Well this would be the perfect time to finally achieve that. Update would be focused on enchanters, since tank supports and mage supports both have generally more interesting and appealing play styles. Ultimately, the goal would be to find a way to make enchanters more interesting the play. Changing items and adding quests isn't the way to do this. The way to do this is by changing the kits of champions. Right now, most enchanters are simply boring for most people. Champions like Nami, Janna, Soraka, etc have no real way of being proactive unless you are extremely good at the champions. Nevertheless, the most optimal way to play these champions is by sitting back, shielding your adc, and peeling for them in case the enemies try to engage. It's not an engaging playstyle for the support, and it's not an engaging playstyle for the enemy as well, as the best option in a lane like this is simply to stay back and play as passive as the other opponent is playing, since aggression is punished. On top of that, many enchanters lack a viable niche. Is there really any situation where Nami would be a better pick that Janna? Not really, they both do the same thing so you just need to pick the one that's strongest.
Possible Roster:
Other Choices:
(I feel like he has a good niche and fine counterplay. Changes to him would simply be to make his kit more engaging. The others need more work)
Goal would be to make each of the supports more interactive, more engaging to play, and to give them a unique niche. Janna could be a disruption focused enchanter, with an emphasis on tornadoes and controlling the wind. I'm not sure what direction Nami should go in. Her kit seems pretty generic as is so she'll need some kind of work. Soraka should stay as the healing support, but she should be made more interesting to play instead of just staying back and pressing W. Karma should get more focus put into her identity as a mage/enchanter hybrid. Right now, her late game as a support is really boring. Just spamming shields is uninteresting. Possibly bring back shield bombs since it fits the enchanter that deals damage theme. Lulu is the buff your adc support, and she should keep that niche but make her more interesting and reduce her generic shield power that every support has. This update is best left for preseason. Large systematic changes and reworks with big playstyle changes need more testing in an environment where it's okay for everything to be broken, at least for a patch.
#Unique Class Update
Focus should be on embracing the unique roles that many champions bring to the table. Many of the unique kits in the game need modernization, but their unique playstyle should stay. Having champions that are wildly different to the norm is really good for the game, and is something that should be embraced. At the same time, some of these champions have abilities that simply don't fit their kits at all, and really need some kind of work put into them to make them great. Since the update is on unique playstyles that differ wildly on the norm, basically no systematic changes should be put into place.
Possible Roster:
Other Choices:
(She is fairly similar to an assassin, but riot says she's unique)
(I don't think he needs a rework, but if he did, it would be to make his laning more interactive)
Goals are to modernize the champions listed. The only one here that doesn't need modernization is Azir. His update should be focused on fixing the many problems that Azir has, mainly with how overloaded his kit is. Making him less of a one-size-fits-all champion and focusing his power would be the main goal. Since this update is mainly focused on class updates, it should be focused on midseason.
