failed rework. Yes she is actually playable now but her passive is unintuitive and just makes her ridiculous late game. You have very little effect on the game early and playing her pretty much consists of "Just gotta wait 40 minutes and then I will be able to steamroll the enemy team with 1400 AP and a spammable nuke that takes 1/3 of their health and they can't dodge it."
my very first main, the champion that got me into this game. I can't forgive this, and I don't even need to explain her current state.
"Let's make his Q a skillshot, and on top of that nerf all his mana scalings. Also, his base armor was too high so we gotta fix that."
He's in an alright spot now because they gave him solid buffs after that half-baked rework, but at the time he was an absolute joke.
should be the benchmark for what a rework should achieve. They ironed out his theme, he used to be a goofy drain-tank mage with a point and click stun nuke as his primary damage, he was just a giant mess in general. Now he is an unmistakeable war machine that literally towers over his enemies and makes his presence known on the battlefield. Playing him really does feel like you are an unstoppable juggernaut tearing through your enemies, and as much as I dislike on-death passives, i'll let it slide this time because it fits his theme and is more strategically flexible than the others, and also the changes to it reward him for building health so if you build right it can be used to great effect.
And most of all, the rework team proved that they can take a champ with ZERO skillshots, convert his kit into one with ALL skillshots, and not ruin anything about him. We can all agree that Sion is much more powerful with his new kit, all his skills are high-impact and incredibly satisfying to land, and playing Sion is always a blast. Why they can't make more reworks like Sion is anyone's guess.
