An idea I had about how Jihn's passive would work with his ult

So I'm sure we have all seen the reveal by now so if you haven't make sure to check it out so you understand what I am saying here. Jihn's gun can hold 4 bullets, that's his passive. His ult has 4 shots to it, and the final shot is really powerful. However, the shots fired from his ult do not interact with his passive at all, he is essentially spawning bullets out of nowhere. I think that it would be cool if, when he ults, he only gets as many shots as bullets in his passive, each shot expends a bullet in his passive. If he ult and he is missing bullets in his gun, then after the ult ends he would get a refund equal to % of bullets missing - 20%. For example if he ulted with only 2 rounds in his gun, that means that 2 rounds are missing. 2 rounds = 50%, 50-20 = 30. So 30% of his cooldown is refunded.

If he ults with only one round left in his gun, he would get 55% of his cooldown back. What do you think?

just why? graves only holds two shots (with the possability of an instant third with his dash) yet his ult spawns a shot. If he were only allowed to ult if he had a shot charged it would effectively make him unplayable. i feel the same can be said for jhin since his kit is pretty well a mix of graves and lucian (props on the originality riot /jk).

Actually his ult is more of a mix between a Zac jump and a Xerath ult. Literally has almost nothing to do with lucian or Graves. Also while you are correct about bullets randomly appearing for Graves, they seem to be paying a good attention to this matter with Jihn. It would NOT make him unplayable, because his reload time isn't THAT long, and even then, if he doesn't have a full clip he gets a portion of his CD back. I'm afriad that it would make him OP

after re reading the reveal i see his q acts more like a targeted version of heimers ulted nade (i origionally thought it was closer to grave's nade) his w seems a lot like lucians q his e is kinda like viktors traps and that ult... nothing i really can compare that to, but looks unbelievably hard to actually use.

but anyway to get back on point I'm still searching for the exact numericals on his reload time as ive not played him yet. But for the time being lets assume you currently have two shots and ult them away your left with a grenade that will ideally, but not always hit the enemy champ (unless you target them first) and a slowing tarp to try to buy you time to reload. in the heat of battle this may buy you one maybe two additional ammo. assuming this is enough to secure a kill now your on complete cd no shells and still have to worry about ganks and a support if your in bot. sure youll always have your support and jng (assuming your on bot) to help cover those times until you can reload but jng isnt always going to be there and support isnt always going to have mana or be in position. (no to mention if your in mid or top with him you may just be left for food for their jng or mid depending on when/if the gank comes). not even going to get started on how screwed you could be if they somehow survive the all in.

you mentioned that they tried to address the reload issues that have occured on graves when they made jihn. so maybe reload is a little faster than i imagine it being, but even if that is the case he can still easily be crippled by enemies looking to abuse this especially if a player has to do additional maths to see if ulting is worth the cost at the moment

Ok, but these issues are going to be issues with Jihn himself. He have no form of reliable escape or gap closers, and if he ults in a fight to make up for his reload time then there is a strong chance of Jihn just screwing himself over because any assassin can just dive him and wreck him (he is really squishy) or any mage/support/ or tank can rush him, as any form of displacement or hard CC cancel his ult.

Also, I've watched gameplay of Jihn on the PBE, and while it's kinda hard to see because of how the camera zoom's out, it does NOT appear that the bullets that Jihn is firing during his ult directly comes from his gun. Let me explain.

Jihn has an extremely enormous lump on his right shoulder, that is covered by his poncho. I didn't think anything of it, I just thought that lumps was how he roll'd. My anaconda don't want none unless you got lumps hon.

Anyways, when he ults, his poncho moves to the side, and it looks like there are four canisters stored underneath it, with every shot, an empty shell cartridge pops out of his shoulder in way that reminds me of an artillery gun. My only question is how is the bullet get from his shoulder to his gun, but it appears that that is no ordinary robot arm (is he from piltover?)

Yes it's true one may be piled when they use their ult, but what champion isnt this a concern on? the problem with having his ult be based off his current passive bullet collection screwing him over still remains an equal concern to him escaping a bad spot. only difference is that in the case of him escaping we're allowed tools such as flash to make up for it.

If your main concern is why he has a cannon on his shoulder that seems to visually make his gun fire then i'de say that is a problem for the graphics department to fix, or for the people writing his background to explain that he made some kind of alteration to his equipment allowing for a second wave of more volatile ammo to be fired from a second barrel, or even the same barrel tho they have a separate storage compartment (tho in the case of the second one I would have to question the compartments location).

Listen to the interviews of the creators/designers of Jihn. They started with a cowboy sniper, and studied video-games such as Halo, and Call of duty to try to decide was a sniper should feel like. They tried to emulate this with his kit. Giving him an ammo capacity, making it only have 4 shots, a fixed attack speed, huge range, and tons of damage, was all a part of that design. Jihn is designed to FEEL like a sniper...a REAL thing. Granted I can't expect everything to be realistic, but still, having 0 bullets in my gun to spontaneously having 4 bullets is a pretty big difference and feels like an immersion breaker. Besides, the CDR I thought make him OP, cause he could auto attack 3 times, then ult, fire his mega shot to hit an enemy or even kill them, and then get 55% of his CD back. My original idea was, instead of a 20% reduction on his CDR, I was going to give him a 10% CDR penalty, which would mean that this one shot ult would give Jihn a 65% refund on his cooldown

let me just start off by saying a sniper has always got a secondary for that much dreaded encounter with an enemy getting past his rifles area of effectiveness. if an enemy is too close to effectively use a bulky rifle would you rather switch off to a pistol or cart an enormous thing around to try to pick off someone in your face? if they have based him off a sniper would it not be unrealistic to have him use his sidearm most of the time seeing as their is always the journey to setting up a rifle which is often more dangerous than securing the high value kill. on that train of thought it's perfectly reasonable that they wanted to simulate that feeling and still give him that ace in the whole of having a bigger, more dangerous weapon.

regardless oh how they have his cooldowns worked out i am excited to finally get to play him once he goes live.

But he DOES have a secondary....its his pistol...he just carries a barrel extension for it and uses a separate ammo type duing his ult

unless the bullets get auto attack strength as well because he will be super weak in straight up fights that he might use his ult to help cover that reload time

ViashinoWizard1 votes

Obviously part of assembling the sniper rifle involves loading a fresh clip for it.

and yet, if he fires two shots, then ults, fires all four shots, and then goes back to walking around, he still only has 2 shots in his gun

Also this would mean that ulting and firing four shots should trigger a reload
