I have seen people on Reddit talking about a LACK OF snowball

on pro games mostly. This is very weird because what I see the most is people complaining about too much snowball in this game (not only on the boards, but on Reddit too). Can someone explain that to me? I thougth that the game was snowbally (I myself experienced it) - the only possible explanation I can find is that pros take every step possible to avoid snowball because they know what can happen if you make the tiniest mistake.

They probably want to play the game on a razor's edge with even a tiny mistake costing the game. I think most normal folks want a little bit of leeway to make adjustments and have overall consistency of play over the course of a game be a bigger deal than one mistake.

In other words

Pro players play to win, so they try to make everything possible to not let the enemy win, including not let them snowball. To do that they need to play the most optimal comps possible while using the tools that give them the best chance to stall the game or survive. That's why they pick tanks, mages with CC and waveclear, and Perfect Timing (Stopwatch) as a rune.

We don't do that in SoloQ because we want to have fun. We want to have fun by picking what we want instead of what is going to be the best to avoid snowball. The problem is that this in turn means snowball is more consistent and happens more often.

I wouldn't go that far. The game is all about winning but there can be a good balance between twitchy burst fests that are all but decided in the first 10 minutes vs hour long slog fests that never end because no one can create an advantage. Split the difference!
