When is literally anything going to be done to make champions like Lux, Ziggs, and Vel'koz playable again?
There is literally nothing I can do if I get matched against an assassin like Fizz or Zed, which are currently dominating mid lane in terms of pick rate.

Fizz needs some work, having 90% of his power in his ult sounds good on paper for "Counterplay" but when he can point blank ult you fallowed by a 100% one shot AT LEVEL 6 they need to fix the champ.

The problem with Fizz is that his unavoidable burst is on such a low cooldown that he doesn't need his ult; he can completely miss it, and still get a kill after his first item.
FOR JUSTICE3 votesactually there is plenty of counter play, but most people for whatever reason, never abuse them. especially as ziggs with a low cd spam able q, take aery, hang back level 1 and just poke away, because 99% of melee assassins mid lane have terribad starts. it wont look like much at first, but it does help in the long run as investment trades, because the minute they step up to all in, you can just turn on them on the spot.
taking minion dematerializer helps too, because it helps you afk shove the backline casters to contest their pushes. the last thing you want is to get shoved in because of course then they can just walk up and all in you. because all assassins rely on some kind of snowball, your M.O for the laning phase is basically just to delay that said power as long as possible. this forces them to look elsewhere for any kind of kills, to which you can now (although not recommended into fog) follow or pressure their turret with OP waveclear.
of course there's always the obvious line though
these are some tips, but just gotta say, if your close enough to take damage as an artillery mage, youre too close.

Almost every assassin ahead 1-2 kills can all in and kill every champion listed from the fog of war.
Lux can't sustain her mana to wave clear from max range and many assassins clear faster than her; if the wave hits her turret after the first E, she loses it, and she'll be completely OOM after three or so waves.
Ziggs has to get relatively close to bounce a bomb to the caster minions (or hit the entire wave if it's clumped), giving the assassin time to push him in. He's harder to all in than the rest, but he loses significant CS, as the assassin can push the wave in faster if he's not getting up close to hit a bomb without bouncing it.
I just went 4-0 as Vel'koz against Fizz, only to have him lane swap with the ADC, pick up three kills while I pick up two kills on the ADC and jungle, and then suddenly be able to all in me from 100% while using his entire kit to gap close on me. Beautiful.
Zerenza1 votesIts not sudden, assassins scale earlier than mages. The key to winning the match up is by not letting them roam and by not feeding them yourself, which is easy because you can stay way out of their range and either poke them or just wave clear. If the dive you time your skills vote to stop them and make them take turret hits.

this I can kind of agree with since his range is on the low side but it still isnt hard to be safe.

If the choice is between losing half the CS on every wave or dying, you've already lost. You either feed or fall behind into irrelevancy. There is no winning choice, which is what this thread is about; whether you play safely or not, you still lose. You then go on to say 'lol assasins snowball, deal with it' after this. I'm not sure why you even posted this clusterfuck.
Also, you don't need to take any poke to be 100 to 0'd by an assassin with one item. They just need to reach you for a moment. These champions have limited defensive ability and their damage takes too long to put out.

so making it not only harder for yourself but also for your team is the better choice? did I read that right? yeah there is no wining choice for you but that doesnt mean you just feed to get some cs and make it harder for your entire team. I made the point of him snowballing because your words made it seem like youre surprised when an assassin gets free kills and is then able to burst you even though you came out ahead in lane. that is literally the whole point of assassins is to snowball off kills. by the time they have items to one shot you you should have something to defend yourself and should know to play a little bit safer.

Getting kills doesn't make you tanky. If you don't want to die, buy MR/Armor and Hp, and don't complain. If you don't want to get 1shotted, don't play glass cannons. Landing full mage combo = dead assassin too.
