Generalists are bad for the game. When will Riot ever learn?

Ya know, this seems to be a common pattern, be it in the jungle (Lee Sin) or a solo lane (Zed).

Let's take a look at Lee first. Sure, champs like Shyvanna can clear faster than him. Champs like Naut can gank harder than he does. And then there are champs with a lot more sustain than Lee. But Lee has just ENOUGH of all those aspects to be a viable pick, completly crowding out those "specialistsquot;& whenever the meta favours him a little (and if not Riot buffs him for no reason).

However, one can take this problem to a whole new level, if you take a generalist champ and then buff one of their aspects so it might be a reason alone to pick them. This would be Zed. With Duskblade being introduced he got an item that works really well with his ult and assassination pattern. That alone wouldn'd be so bad, if he wasn't already good enough with poking, waveclear and splitpushing potential. As always, there are champs who do these single aspects better, but none of them does all of them WELL enough.

And with Zed being now one of the strongest assassins on top of his generalistic design... well, he might be one of league's best champs by now. Maximal Reward with Maximal Safety. Not really a good designing principle.

Seriously Riot, you have to make up your mind what your champ is supposed to specialize in. Ya can't just say "muh everything" and then wonder why they completly dominate play for several seasons.

"But these champs are fun, so people play them! We don't want to take fun out of our game!"

Wrong. Winning is fun. That's it. When Skarner was completly broken on the Juggernaut release, suddenly everywhere self proclaimed "Skarner Mains" popped up and his playrate completly skyrocketed. Now Skarner was brough back in line and suddenly he barely sees any play. Can't even remember when I last had a Skarner in my team...

People will play what wins them games, so playrate alone is by far no indicator to a champ being "fun to play", so stop with that bullshit excuse to protect your favourite champs.

Sona is a generalist too, not exactly crowding out other supports is she.

And how the hell is Zed a generalist, no sustain, no hard cc, no team fighting presence.

Can you just admit that you hate Zed and Lee Sin because your biased against them and want to see them nerfed, and that you don't actually care about real balance.

Assassins altogether don't really hold that much of a teamfighting premise because they're supposed to eliminate a priority target and that's that. No assassins are really gonna lock down the mid like an Orianna or Lissandra would. So saying that Zed has no team fight presence doesn't really distinguish him from assassins as a class.

Well, one could argue Thresh does. What I really want to say is that Sona has something a lot of the other generalists don't: the record for how many nerfs a champion can receive in one season. Not sure if she's the champion, but she's definitely one of the more nerfed champion compared to the other generalist (although that's going by champion-specific, not items or counterpicks unfortunately).

Lee Sin is a generalist but Zed... is not. He's popular because he's extremely safe, not because he does tons of things well. If you want a proper generalist mid laner then you're probably looking at someone like Ahri before Zed.

I have played since s4 and I found that I liked playing Zed not because he was safe but because he could very easily abuse a lead

So... Why isn't Zac more popular? He's quite a generalist. Is it because there are BETTER generalists? Same question with Karma.

Zed and Lee are just versatile not generalists.

They have mechanical room for outplaying your opponent, that's why they're so good in the right hands.

Shyvana is a generalist.

She clears fast, she splitpushes, she has heavy DPS and can tank, she moves very fast and has a pretty good ultimate for a teamfight.

Oh wait. I'm just manipulating shyvana's playstyle to make it sound like she can do multiple things and then claiming that's OP despite making absolutely zero sense.. BUT WAIT, YOU'RE doing the same thing for lee sin and zed!

You're just a biased idiot whose trying to farm upvotes by saying "zed lee sin OP plox nerf" xDDddDDLJL:EKRJ:KRULE:RJLKJR
