What Should i do When im in promo and my teammate in champ select says "IM TROLL HAHA" and take smite as support ? i cant dodge because it counts lose anyway . What should i do ? Begging him to not troll ? Pray to enemy have troll as well ? what should i do ? whats the point in promos at all ? just remove it. keeping a player hostage from dodging or anything and forcing him to play a game he doesnt want to ? just make it idk 120LP or 150LP to climb to next division do somthing remove promos there is no point at promos at all . i mean what i should do in that situation ?

Promos are made for you to lose. They are meant to keep you in the loop of "I can prove everyone I can be better than this". It's meant to keep you addicted and repeating the same bullshit game after game only to bounce back after yet another promo bullshittiery.

I don't wanna play conspiracy theory (which i kinda will now), but my guess is promos are rigged from the start. MMR, knowing a player is in his promos, will add obvious toxic/oddball players only to make sure you will bounce back. It doesn't happen always, but it doesn't has to be. Lots of divisions, lots of promos, lots of "chances" to bounce you back.

Do NOT play ranked. Play normals/aram/LTM instead. They can be as competitive, if not more, than ranked game. If you want to see ranked getting fixed, you gotta, as a playerbase, show Riot, this shit ain't okay. Don't play ranked. That's the crappy, yet only, solution to make Riot fix it.

I used to enjoy playing Normals because you don't have the stress and pressure of screwing up in Ranked. Back then I would have disagreed voiciferously noting that you get all manner of smurfs, trolls and people trying out things or half-assing it in Normals. Now... now I see ALL those things CONSISTENTLY (like not once in 100 games or 50 or even 10, more like 1 in every 2-3 (and if I don't "see" it in the other ones, it's probably on the other team)). So, with that in mind, I'd agree that Normals and Ranked are basically equally competitive now. Not because people care about Normals now more than back in the day, but because people care about Ranked less.

Ragnaveil2 votes

Issue for me is, normals are so boring and lackluster as shit. The amount of times I try to play something "fun" there and immediately get tryharded on just practically drove me away from it, and ARAM, leaving Ranked the last thing in the world i'll play.

Saianna1 votes

The thing is normals/aram are actually more competitive than ranked. Ranked lures in all the scum that want to win or troll for the sake of doing it. So they either quit or just troll your game if they feel like it. Normals/ARAMs do not have that. It's just players who want to compete over non existent carrot. There are no divisions, nothing.

If you say normals are boring maybe it's cause you neglected your normals MMR and it's kinda low? Anyways, do as u think is correct.

Ragnaveil1 votes

Its boring because what do I really get out of it by playing? Practically nothing.

You have this feeling because Promos are so important for you and because of that they stick in your brain/memory more than the other matches. You have exactly the same toxic people and noobs in your other games but it doesn't bothers you so much like in promo games because that are the games that counts.

Also: You think these games are "rigged" because if you have problem with Promos it's because they are in your skill cap Elo.

Did you ever made a Smurf? Let's say you are Dia and make a new account in Silver. You climb pretty fast (at least as carry champion). You easily go through Silver 3 Promos -> Silver 2 Promos -> Silver 1 Promos. They are ez as fck. You would never say they are "rigged". But as soon as you come too Dia 3 Promos they feel SOOO "rigged". Why are only your Dia Promos rigged but not your Silver Promos?

We all love promos, right?

Just dodge, not worth the trouble.

Let me teach you a secret:

Just dodge. What really matters isn’t your LP or your promo wins, but your behind the scenes MMR. Losing and dodging both make you lose a promo, but dodging doesn’t cost you MMR. Losing will slow your overall climb in the long run. It’s better to try again at promos than to lose and have a lower hidden MMR.

Ragnaveil1 votes

Right, so lets make dodging not have such a steep LP penalty. So many situations where you need to dodge cuz of incompetent people, but the ramp-up is a net negative in diamond, where gains are throttled.

Riot just doesn’t recognize dodging as a legitimate tactical decision. There’s a reason why for the longest time the only way to dodge was to x out. Now you can also just not pick your champion (because too many people complained about getting a random champion when you didn’t pick one).

I wish there was a dodge button in champ select as well as reduced lp losses (though this is iffy because then there would be way too many dodges), but I find it highly unlikely Riot will do that.

Pick Trundle and explain that YOU are "Troll king. King!"

You suck the trolls big meat stick and take the loss through dodging. Riots lobby system is so bloody bad.

Ragnaveil3 votes

You cant do anything sadly. I'd rather get rid of promos unless matchmaking finally gets fixed for once. Tired of having so many matches that were super winnable, but get thrown away because two or one of my teammates couldn't muster a braincell to do the right thing, the same thing I repeatedly told them to do. I got to D3 before being demoted by trolls by pure luck. Skill hardly matters anymore until that issue is resolved.

if you dodge the match u will loose 3 LP, so better dodge and count as lost match then loosing -20 LP.

Umm that is not how promos work pal. If you dogde it counts as a LOSS entirely. What can you really do OP? I would take the chance. You might lose 30 minuttes of your life on a lost game but games can be won even with a troll on your team. You have nothing to lose except time i guess.

You play out the game, take the loss, and report the troll.

The report does absolutely nothing, except give the hardworking Rito employees a good laugh reading your report. Hey, just because you are having a bad day doesn't mean others have to be, too. Put your misery to work improving the lives of disgruntled Rito workers.

This is every Promo for me. 100% I will have a Troll or a Feeder or an AFKer AND OR the enemy will have a Smurf Duo (Plat+) in silver.

ZaFishbone1 votes

Just try, maybe tell him u will report him if he trolls, but a lot of times ppl are just trolling you what they say they are going troll.

roughvan1 votes

Just listen to "Pierce The Veal" dodging is better, if they pick smite as support they have no intentions to win the game. MMR is what matters not your rank or LP, your MMR decides your LP gains, for example if you win 70% or more games in silver/gold, you'll get 25-30 LP at least every game because your MMR is too high for your rank.

Kanzler1 votes

That's how every promo is. Nothing you can do.

He's probably saying it so that you will dodge because he got auto-filled or something. I would dodge but just wait until the last minute just in case he dodges first

Stop playing ranked until they fix the problems. Ask your friends and other gamers to do the same thing - force the issue to be addressed, stop taking it.

Act as if he was just kidding. Sometimes, players will actually try, out of ackwardness.

This might actually work. I remember times where I was so tilted, I went into my next game with intent to troll and ended up running into some very nice people and just couldn't bring myself to do it. It's very easy to troll when your own team mates are pricks.

Play the game as normal. Say nothing to them, do nothing to them, and if they do actively troll report them.

Never tell people youre in promos for one, cause that will trigger some piece of shit to go full troll on you instantly. I dont know if you said it before they made threats, but dont say youre in promos after they make threats either. If they were joking, maybe they wont grief now, but if they smell blood, they may flip from trolling as a threat to actually griefing.

Never beg, that just makes them get a boner the more attention you give them.

When this happens, take a screen shot (alt+printscreen), past it into paint afterwards, submit a ticket. Dont tell them youre reporting, but you can defuse their inner piece of shit by just telling them "Do whatever, all you can do is slow me down, you wont be the first piece of human garbage Ive stepped over this week." Then say nothing else, theres a chance they will forget, or start to play legit if they cant get any more pleasure from noticeably annoying you.

If they persist in trolling, like smiting your camps, go to the replay, and clip out a video of them following you stealing your camps. Submit this video along with the screen shot. This will not just be some "salty kid report, add it to the pile" no, this will show someone who handles reports that THIS player IS a PROBLEM. This evidence will go a long way to give any context to future reports where people comment similar things.

Then save a favorites in your browser on their OP.GG stats page and check it from week to week... Take some satisfaction when you see the match history come to a total halt... that was their ban.

Hate to say this but Sometimes even in promos Dodging is the Optimal decision: Problem is playing out that troll game which will probably be a LOSS will lower your MMR unless you somehow 4v6, so statistically you are better off dodging even if it loses you your promo series and hoping your MMR you protected gets you into a higher quality game/games to get back into and win your promos on the next attempt.

That said, because of rito's absolutely AWFUL handling of positional matchmaking (including the Merging of mmrs from all positions) Matchmaking and MMR are incredibly skewed right now especially in the higher population ELO's/ranks, so unless riot does some sort of midseason reset on MMR matchmaking is gonna stay garbage and coinflippy...

Honestly a lot of folks complaining about balance this season, I actually think the game isn't as imbalanced as some think, my theory is that if Riot hadn't tried their absolutely poorly thought out positional matchmaking as well as the totally foolish merging of positional MMRs, and thus F*cked up players MMR across many divisions, that games would be a lot healthier, feel fairer and players would be enjoying the game much much more. Imo the good (evenly matched) games I have had this season have been incredibly satisfying, even in hard fought losses they are incredibly fun and remind me why I love this game. However, unfortunately that is only 1 in every 10 games, or worse if you are unlucky, when you seem to have more chance of getting an evenly matched game in ARAM than on Ranked summoners rift thats when you know riot has massively screwed up the MMR system.

Quepha1 votes

dodge anyways and stop worrying about your LP and promos, those are just temporary barriers that don't matter in the long run. Losing the match will cost you more MMR than dodging, and your MMR is what really matters.

MessyStuff1 votes

Well you could wait for someone else to dodge(happens half the queues anyways) and if they don't and the "troll" still acts trolly(like going Zilean jg with ghost/cleanse) and then you will probably be forced to dodge.
