Riot is too busy shovelling all the money they earned from skins and lootboxes down the LCS hole.

Morgana Dominus4 votes

The best part is when you contact riot tech support they'll find a reason to blame it on your PC/internet and not their client. Can't possibly ever be their fault.

literally spitting in your face with that "trade error" appearing AFTER the game lol

Hah match accept or decline window popped and froze would not do anything after I push the button can’t even exit client. Had to force stop in task manager lost my promotional series as a result. Lol the irony

low spec client is still dogshit on gaming pc, drains disk and ram hogs while, fo4 and apex/fortnite run better on max graphics, its not the PC half the time its the fucking client, promised new client would reduce disk usage by 20% but legacy client still didn`t use 1.3 gigs of disk and ram just on graphics....

Shiroyashayami3 votes

Yea. The client is shit. Not only I lost a lot of lp bc of how it works but also its frustraiting that its so laggy. The worst part is that legacy client was actually working better than this shit.

This game now is's like having a chainsaw, that doesn't run, but you paint it gold, and tell people who want a chainsaw, to buy the paint instead! This is Riot!

EATARI1 votes

Just stick to chainsaws for a solid month until the bit catches up. It’s too ahead of it’s time.

TheXXXorcist2 votes

Submit a support ticket. They will help you try to fix it so it won’t happen again. It’s less about the client and more about your OS and settings.

3TWarrior2 votes

they have always been lax on the mac version, but in what way does the operating system have any influence on it?

turning down the system requirements with the low graphics mode or whatever it was called is one thing, but then again, how does a CLIENT, literally just a box that launches a game and displays information...require more resources than the game itself does...

Eleshakai1 votes

There can be compatibility issues between certain drivers and the client, or between certain OS settings and the client.

It's not about resources, it's about compatibility.

3TWarrior2 votes

ummm, no, the game itself runs at around 2 ghz, the client is now registered for 2.8 ghz

quite a few people run league on toaster rigs

also, what operating system settings can possibly affect an installed program? You can manually alter settings files, but most operating systems have no inbuilt way to adjust a setting, specifically because people find it, change it and don't know what they changed...

A driver might cause the issue, but that is very unlikely given that league is not made from the ground up and instead runs on base programs. The other alternative is if the driver does not have a means to reproduce modern graphics, but I don't think that's possible for any computers made after 2005/2007 or so. I'll look it up, but direct X 9 is probably the cutoff point for any driver issues. anything before that -shrug-

according to wikipedia, DX9 came out as early as 2002

The client is literally a box that runs minor graphical effects and loads files...it's impossible to mess that up concerning the operating system. As per where has been pointed out by someone else, you can however mess up a program by causing a logic error, making the program think that something is happening or is not happening, such as opening the store and then opening something else or other very specific instances where they are not covered by a piece of code occurring

more than likely, this is a programming error on Riot's part, less likely is that a third party interference has altered base operating system settings (you would probably be having errors all over the place if it were true), even less likely than that is that the person is attempting to run the game with a computer from before 2002

Eleshakai1 votes

it's impossible to mess that up concerning the operating system

If that's what you believe, you're both way oversimplifying the realities of coding interfaces AND way underestimating how easy it is to screw things up.

The bug is likely a result of an unintended interaction between the client and SOMETHING else running on the system. Whether it be an obscure OS feature, a piece of software that impacts the things the client is relying on(ie. an anti-virus locking a file that the client is trying to use for scanning), or something on the computer simply not working properly with the client. Now, in each of these cases, the blame CAN be theoretically placed on Riot for not accounting for it - but no developer can design software that works perfectly in all conditions, on all computers, with all other software. That's just a ridiculous expectation. So in a lot of cases, the 'solution' to these problems, especially where the unintended interaction is obscure or low-frequency, is to make a change to the OTHER part of the equation(disable a feature, shut down software, add exceptions to software settings, run in compatibility modes, etc.)

3TWarrior1 votes

an antivirus MAY cause problems, but quite a few cases have had nothing to do with the antivirus, some people even going as far as disabling it and still not getting results. Most antivirus also give the option to exclude programs or file locations, or activate a game mode...

also, hardware compatability is again, extremely unlikely. If a hardware issue was the problem, the game would likely not function at all...Windows 10 does have bad habits of updating drivers without permission, but again, if it were an issue with that, most things would stop functioning because the driver was incompatible with the hardware

If you would read my above post again, I covered most of your points. The most likely solution is that Riot has created a logic error somewhere in the code. Logic errors are pains because unlike SYNTAX ERRORS, logic errors run and function both properly and improperly at the same time

It takes only a few minutes to properly display a graphic on screen, it's harder to tell where a logic error occurs, but it IS a problem created by the developer

Again, a client is a BOX that displays graphics and loads information...to point out how simple that is, Microsoft Paint is a client...

The way the client finds and opens game files

No they won't. They'll tell you to run hextech repair tool (which is literally pointless unless you have corrupt files) and update your drivers. Support is pretty terrible when it comes to widespread tech issues.

Yes they help repair tool is first step always but I messed around with other settings and firewall manual exception for the game and updated windows again they are helpful

What is an "UR Client"?

But it sucks when bugs happen. It really does. I have definitely lost games due to bugs... and it never feels good.

But bitching about it isn't the correct solution. File a bug report to help them fix it for next time.

radetari2 votes

yeah, they will totally read it

Eleshakai1 votes

I mean, you probably shouldn't be playing a game if you don't even think the team reads bug reports. If I had THAT little trust in a group of people, I wouldn't put their software on my computer. Seems irresponsible.

radetari1 votes

dude name one company that actually reads bug reports you make and then addresses them accordingly instead of accidentally fixing them when reworking the ui for example

Eleshakai1 votes

Literally every game company that has a 'report bug' forum, in-client feature, or mailbox reads bug reports.

Literally every one. (So I guess to answer your question: Riot Games)

It's just people being cynical and ignorant of the way programming and game design work that drives them to believe otherwise.

Reading bug reports, of course, doesn't necessarily mean they get fixed right away... as fixing bugs is a long and arduous process that often leads to new bugs which need to be tackled before you can implement the fix which can sometimes lead down a rabbit hole so deep that it's less impact to leave the bug in place temporarily and hope that fixing other bugs changes something to make it easier to fix that one.

Woah hey, tone it down there. I'm sure you'd be angry too if you were willing to co-operate with your teammates but were unable to because the client had an error. Especially if you then have to actually PLAY the rest of the game with 1) a champ you probably have never played, and 2) with your entire team flaming you the whole time. Especially in ranked where things are already stressful. Plus this guy's probably feeling guilty for putting his team at a disadvantage for something that isn't his fault. So it's completely understandable that they'd get frustrated due to a loss that was most likely due to a factor outside of OP's control.

Let up on the guy. You're not acting "mature" either.

Regarding the OP, sorry that happened to you. I've been seeing a lot of problems with the client bugging out, it's pretty disheartening. Especially in situations like this where it costs you LP :(

What do you mean I don't act ''mature'' ? This player is accusing Riot of having a bad client when there's absolutely no problem. Most of the time, it's the player's OS and settings that makes it buggy. There's a Fix button to repair that. Just click it and spare the world from your false accusations.

If this isn't the first time that happened to him and it kept comming back, maybe there's a small corruption on his settings. Again, just click on the repair button.

That player has been playing since season 3 and there's absolutely no reasons to finally snap out against Riot. He won't get banned because of that, Riot isn't stupid, but then he lost 21 LP because he has a bad MMR which is HIS fault.

FOR JUSTICE4 votes

this isnt it at all, even MMR is buggy as hell this season.

example:

me myself. finished silver 3 last season, finished provisionals bronze one. if im currently silver 4, then how in the actual hell am i gaining +31 (yes, thirty fkin one) LP per win? my mmr literally couldnt have gotten any better because i dont rank often, at the very absolute most it should be maybe around +25 (which would be just slightly above normal).

also him losing 21 would still be the fault of the client being that he attempted to trade, regardless if his mmr was bad or not.

granted though yes it is only one match, that doesn't just suddenly excuse that his client bugged out costing him the game.

So this is why League is taking half my core power when I turn it on, I just need to repair it... Thanks Sherlock !

Jokes aside, tell me why, just why, this client is making my computer go nuts when I turn it on while I have good specs? The client being buggy as fuck isn't a meme, it actually has a shit ton of bugs.

Except they've quite literally been on record concerning their client, and how they're attempting to fix known issues with champ select before moving on to other known client issues. Known. Client. Issues.

If they themselves are admitting it (and they rarely admit anything...), don't make a up a load of falsified HORSE SHIT in a low-effort flame bait.

Have you ever been told by a support agent the "Oopsie woopsie, there's literally absolutely nothing we can do ever, but rioters frequently watch the forums, if you post a thread there and it gets a little traction there's a good chance they'll see it" bullshit?

i take it you haven't

The only alternate reply i've gotten was "there's nothing we can do about LP/MMR gains and losses. Tough luck, our game fucked you over but there's nothing to be done" (and of course the different reply for reporting someone thru ticket, but those top 2 are the ones i see the most.)

Yeah, I love that they refer you here when they actively post, publicly, that they view the boards and the users of the boards as trash and how the boards provide nothing of value. What are your computer specs?

I find these situations are usually related to your RAM receiving too many commands at once so it doesn’t recognize a que from the client.

I have a sub optimal computer but never have these issues because before I play i close all programs that put any demand on my computer.

jng dif victim1 votes

thx for u answer man . my system is pretty higher then league recommended system need. like so much higher. and my computer is healthy i actually play alot high graphic games and i dont have any problems. im sure its client's issues. i know it doesnt happen always but still if i happens once per 200 games i feel bad about my self that game was actually so winnable but my team lost and they all flamed me because they didnt believe me and they said im trolling.

ArtumisPrime1 votes

I have a monster PC and still have this shit happen occasionally.

I also have a friend who plays on a toaster, takes 5-10 mins to load, and never gets more than 10FPS. He has never had this happen.

It could be related to a lot of different possible things, some of them tied to the PC, but RAM is certainly not one of the possibilities.

mack91121 votes

You should have a CPU monitor running to see what happens in those particular situations like if it can be recreated and the usage of the client jumps like crazy then a reason behind it could be determined.

It's not like the RAM gets confused by instances... it's either full or not. I, for one, have 8 GB, and always play with at least an open browser and a few other minor apps with no issues at all. Unfortunately, the client's been buggy in the last weeks, a couple friends of mine once experienced the same problem the OP's gone through (we were five premade though so it wasn't a problem).

mack91121 votes

The exact situation has to be recreated though to determine the cause especially if it is a coding issue the particulars are so important like I have literally never experienced client issues if I follow my strict protocol of ensuring all background programs small or not are not running on my computer that are not required to run.

Syrile1 votes

I love the White Knight responses of how it is your fault. Strange that when playing on a top of the line gaming computer, with optimized settings, even repairing the game and/or reinstalling, things like this can and do happen. Including, a while back, that ridiculous being kicked from the game for running third party programs bug that tons of people were getting.

As for a "bug report" Yeah... I mean.. I submitted a ticket, along with a few other people that I know submitted the same ticket at later points. This was done immediately after the Runes Reforged thing happened and the bug still exists... Yep, they really care about fixing those bugs.

I mean.. How often are champions disabled in professional play because of bugs? Yet, we still get stuck with them, even in ranked, even when they can cause the entire game to crash or create permanent, yet invisible, terrain like Taliyah's wall or permanently freeze a champion in one spot... Riot cares sooooo much for you. Please remember that.
