Just had a friend have a 57 minute game last night, and 2 games later playing with him we had a 48 minute game (partly because my friend was feeding)

Late game exists if you want it to. If all your games are decided at 3 minutes, you might want to look inward and wonder..... are you losing because you're giving up, and team is giving up with you? Or are you losing mechanically? Usually it's the prior.

That's kind of a naïve way at putting it. While late game is possible to get to, it certainly isn't common. That's why average game times across all elos is around 25-27 minutes. The game snowballs too hard to reliably make it to late game. While losing the game at 3 minutes is bad, it's also a bit of a hyperbole. Nobody ints that badly to the point where the game is decided that early.

Naive. Hyperbole. Simply words to describe two different ends of the same question: One overgeneralizes to the point where you use a statement's identity to suggest I'm saying that's what all games are, and the other suggests that an unrealistic norm is an exaggeration of the truth.

The game's average length is and always has been around 28-31 minutes, and that's the data research and Riot's own guidelines have suggested, and that's where they've wanted it since at least Season 3.

The games do not snowball too hard unless people enable them. That's my sticking point. When you rage and give up. your team halfway rages and gives up. When you just rage, your team wants to take the loss just to spite you. When you say nothing, but silently give up, your team is caught in a 4v5 and stifled by you.

The problem with game length is not mechanical. It's a people problem.

And yes. They do feed that bad. Often. They either refuse to know the mechanics of an opponent, are smurfed, or are just intentionally feeding. But even when a team feeds 4/35 (I've had this game recently), I can still draw a game out to 28 minutes. If my team wasn't inting, I could win by 32 minutes. That same score.... 90% of the community would surrender on a dime at 15 minutes, and then complain about "short games."

Your first paragraph was just defining words, so.. A+ I guess?

"Games don't snowball unless people enable them to." That's a half truth at best. Riot nerfed both towers and Baron, making it easier to snowball leads. Sure, you can staunch the bleeding if you know how, but snowballing is much easier than in the past. Rage has nothing to do with it, not in a major sense anyway. Obviously tilt will make you do worse, but we try to be objective about this stuff. A calm composure won't stop a winning lane from shoving you in, shredding your tower, and rotating to continue the snowball.

Your last paragraph is just personal examples and baseless claims, so it doesn't warrant a response from me.

I'm sorry but you're wrong. A good team can prevent being pushed in ..... simply by targetting the weakest links: The minions. And by not chasing out and trying to die 1v4 roaming in their lost jungle. If all 5 people are alive.... you should have no problems eliminating minions at base turrets from all directions before they damage. If they attempt to push with 4-5, your team is all in that base and only a few stops from concentrating on the lane that needs it. I personally can solidly defend at least 2 lanes by myself, and 3 choppily.

Rage has everthing to do with it. You can analyze in real time who on your team has given up..... because they gain a whopping 4-8 cs per death as they push out into fight after fight, chasing someone who has 4-5k more gold than them, into a 1v3 or worse. They afk jungle. They are verbally raging and toxic. Their performances are noticeably worse than the rest of the team, and it has nothing to do with any snowball, except the one they made. There is no objectivism behind any of these behaviors, which encapsulate a huge portion of the player population.

You can try to dismiss the last example as much as you want but I've literally 1v5'd games.

Reading your post, literally your entire argument boils down to "I can do it so everyone else must be able to." Well, congrats Mr. Challenger Rank One, but not everyone can defend all three lanes by themselves or 1v5 games like your almighty self can. Its impossible to argue with anecdotes, because they prove nothing. Your entire basis is that you can. Even if I believed you, which I really don't, your experience doesn't apply to everyone else.

I don't know how you can argue with basics just to try to win an argument.

No minions = Turrets take vastly reduced damage. Hard to push. How hard is it to kill minions on an even half way well constructed team? Surely those minions are just as fed as the champs behind them :rolls eyes: Surely that's something only I know :rolls:

Surely teams don't completely ignore turrets and chase out mid.... because that's something only I don't do....

Surely I'm the only one who experiences feeders and toxicity.... surely.

You're basically arguing against common sense..... for the sake of arguing.

I have over 17,000 games played since 2013. What do I know...

My shortest game since the last patch is 33 mins.

Last year at NA/EU Rift Rivals, if we don't count games where the first blood was a kill trade (1 for 1), the team that scored first blood, won 44% of the time. At this year's rift rivals, if we again discount kill trades, the team scoring first blood has won 73% of the time. THAT is why everyone says the game is over in 5 minutes (plus with Riot agreeing that 20 minutes is too long to make people "try", people quit in 5-10 mins, so they can surrender at 15). It doesn't matter what time the clock says, when you're not going to win past a certain point unless the other team "gives" you the win (not talking "throw" talking "gotta keep my smurf low so here, take the W").
