ARAM snowballs should be colored.

Like that. Nice and simple and easy to take in.

This is what they're like at the moment. White snowballs on a white map. Incredibly hard to see, and in a chaotic teamfight you have no idea whose snowball is whose. Blue for your team, red for the enemy team.

Watch out for the yellow ones.

Saixos10 votes

Does anyone else think it'd be adorable if there actually were tiny yellow ones thrown at random by the little wandering poros which would always reactivate?

Rand0mH3r0X3 votes

Crapped my pants because a poro just marked and dashed me. On the bright side, I just supplied my team with brown snowballs.

Ew. Nasty.

Those are for Twitch only :D

Twitch really deserves his own green snowballs, nwo that I think about it, the snowballs should be colored the same color/skin the champ is.

Just imagine the color mess!

As a side note, I think snowballs are somewhat overpowered. What they are supposed to do is provide a long-ranged gapclosing ability for champions who need it against the long ranged champs.

The problem is that they simply do too much.

  • They reveal stealthed champions (Who are honestly already at a disadvantage on aram)

  • They make the user untargetable during the dash (You can't interrupt the dash, it can be used to dodge damage just like a Fizz trollpole)

  • They reveal bushes and the area around them, making smart bush use less effective/powerful

  • They deal instant long-ranged true damage which is equal to just a little less than half of ignite's damage

  • They can't be blocked by spellshields or wind wall

Mark quite honestly does not need many of these features. They shouldn't reveal stealth, they shouldn't make the user untargetable, they shouldn't reveal bushes. Right now it completely outclasses ignite and many other spells.

that spellshield doesn't block them is a good thing. it would give enemies an easy way to pop the shield before using a stronger ability.

Saixos2 votes

It can be seen both ways. On the flip side, if it blocks the mark then you can't be used as a transport for Galio to ult your team, for example.

I didn't mention that part should be removed though, just the first 3.

SeductiveGrandpa1 votes

I find this quite debatable as I dont think its too op if you've got good reaction timing and or sight, its kinda like the whole "I'm too lazy to care about moving" situation. I dont think the damage on it needs to be removed (COMONN THE SNOWBALL SNIPESS), Stealth reveal could use some deciding, the untargetability is also something that could be discussed, I'd agree with the spellshields and windwall but thats kinda it. I could agree with the other points, but now i find its not too irritating if you're good at evading or paying attention, pre-M/D was silly, you could go ridiculous ranges it even had a glitch where you could use it and get pulled to an enemy spawn. Laughed myself silly when that happened. I guess a good thing to do would be to restrict M/D for ranged classes as its whole purpose was "To give melees a chance in ARAM"

btw: Galio + M/D is fucking evil.

"Reveal stealthed champs" Honestly, revealing is better than the opposite idea- that is would just either not hit them at all or just disappear. Skillshots of all kinds can hit invisible champs, mark need not be different.

"Untargetable during dash" This one I agree with- it is incredibly annoying that there is no way to stop them from following up.

"Reveal bushes" First of all, 'smart use of bushes' does not exist in ARAM. You sit in the bushes because there is nowhere else to be. Secondly, everyone is in the bush already. It's ARAM- if you can't see them- they're in the bush. That's all there is to it. "Are they in the bush?" "Of course they're in the bush."

"Instant long-ranged true damage" All damage is "instant". Even DoTs are "instant" they just happen over and over again. It's a skillshot that hurts when it hits you- that's what they do. They do a "little" true damage. Doing almost anything is more damage than just throwing a snowball.

"Can't be blocked by shields" Good! Lee Sin Q is only blocked by one of those things- why would Mark be less? It's a Summoner Spell! You're sacrificing something extremely important so you can have it! It quite literally is supposed to be better than regular abilities!

Saixos2 votes

Stealthed champs, when hit by a snowball, should be marked but not revealed. The enemy team can still use their dash, but if an Akali gets hit by a snowball in her shroud that shouldn't mean the entire enemy team can suddenly autoattack her.

Smart use of bushes exists in Aram. Things like moving in and out of bushes during fights can be extremely powerful if you know how to do it properly, since it means the enemy constantly loses vision of you and thus can't autoattack you. There's also the 1 minute cheese moments which have pretty much died down. Bushes also hide your cast animations, making skillshots much harder to hit, and are used by champions like Rengar and Sion quite frequently. Just a few examples. If you think the only use of bushes is to make the enemy not know where you are, you're severely mistaken.

They do enough damage to net people kills. The difference between instant and DoT is that DoT allows your cooldowns to come up, allow you to use potions in the meantime. Instant isn't the main point here, the main point is that they do just slightly under half the damage of ignite in a much shorter period of time, while having MANY other uses. They flat out outclass ignite.

SociopathFriend1 votes

Ignite has several points: True Damage Vision Healing Reduction

Mark only brings two of those, and in lesser quality than Ignite because Mark's power budget is in the movement. Ignite Hurts more and prevents healing- it's a dueling tool where Mark is not. Mark has a short-ish CD because it has to in order to fulfill its niche-purpose, letting tanks get through the massive advantage poke comps have on ARAM.

It's an unfair Summoner Spell for an unfair game-type in an unfair-map. ARAM is never going to be "fair" and so a Spell specifically made to balance it out is also never going to be "fair".

Honestly I've always thought bushes not allowing you to see animations is kind of BS. The idea that I can suddenly take damage from something that I should be able to see and can't because "LOL I'm in a bush" makes no sense to me.

Bârd1 votes

Well, look at what aram was BEFORE snowballs were added.

If you got a melee champion, you sat under the tower trying not to get poked until your freindly neighborhood Fiddlesticks pulls off an engage.

Saixos1 votes

True, though most melees have either a gapcloser or will be building defenses anyway, making them useful in late game. Generally I found that most of the champions that benefited the most from the snowballs were the ones whose power is partially limited by the fact that they need to get in close range/danger to use their abilities, letting the enemy team avoid them and counter them. Galio instant 5 man ult is the biggest offender.

Besides that, not saying they should be removed, just saying that they should do less. Rift equivalent would be removing LB's silence, for example.

RIP stealth champions in aram it makes them untargetable but doesn't let them avoid any damage. its better if they dont pop spellshields because they can just use a snowball to pop a spellshield and use a skill to kill them.

its pretty easy to dodge if you pay attention to it, because it is a slow moving long range summoner, you can just side step and it will easily miss.

The snowball allows close range champions to have a chance against the long ranged champions that dominated aram, otherwise a full melee team can't do anything against a full ranged team without getting below half before reaching them.

I for one actually like the snowballs on aram, since it's never been much of a competitive environment and having an op spell that is basically a bit of troll and has a tone similar to URF really brings out the best in aram because there is so much humorous ways you can use it to dick around and make funny plays.

They should be removed

Saixos3 votes

Honestly, I think there's an argument on both sides. I personally am no longer sure if I preferred aram with or without the snowballs, I disliked them on release but it's been so long. Regardless of whether or not they should stay, I'm 100% certain riot will keep snowballs (at least for a long time) so this change should happen.

I don't think they need to be removed, just need a longer CD

They should be removed

Yes, because making melee champions legitimately viable on ARAM is a horrible idea! We should remove snowballs and make it impossible to retaliate against ranged champions! Remove snowball and this reform will make sure Galio will be completely useless at all points of the game!

VIVA LA BALANCE

Or just make them sparkle. Random colored "snow" balls doesn't feel aesthetically right.

or just give us Butcher's Bridge back and throw oranges

While we are at it, we should disable Underworld Twisted Fate or revert his card textures to default

Saixos2 votes

That's not that difficult to fix, his cards need a minor size increase and more edginess to the borders. Default is a bit extreme :P

Starfish H2 votes

I agree that snowballs need to be colored. Ekko and Lucian do get lonely.

ninjaIRL 2 votes

I think the snowballs are just stupid. If Riot wanted to have more balance in ARAM they should make the random champions actually form a decent generic composition. i.e. Two players are randomly rolled a tank and/or fighter classified champion. Two players are randomly rolled an Marksman/Mage and/or Assassin classified champion. One player is randomly rolled a support classified champion.

It will still be random, and they will still be all mid. All Random All Mid

It would fix the balance issues of the game so much better than adding a stupid offensive teleport as a summoner spell. I'm not saying it's going to COMPLETELY fix the balance issue of ARAM, it should always have randomness and it should always have one lane but salvaging the crappy snowball summoners is a crappy long term fix IMO.

Or just get rid of a summoner spell .

It was supposes to be a gap closers (period)

INSTEAD:

  1. It scouts bushes.
  2. Makes you immune to globals like (Karthus's Ult)
  3. Its an epic escape for ranged if you mark a creep behind you before you engage the enemy team in front of you (*poof escaped).
  4. Its a distance closer to get to YOUR tower faster.
  5. It helps grieving player to feed that much faster to end a game.
  6. Hell, in a game I was in champs like Vlad used it to jump to the group Tides of Battle and Hemoplague and Troll pooled away scott free (no damage to him). I did similar with Talon.

The problem is Mark and Dash is being used for something other than it was meant for.

Sooooooo many players have told Riot balancing team this. But they don't get it. It is absolutely amazing how much they don't understand their own game.
