Why are Leblanc, Ahri, Twisted Fate and Lissandra classified as burst mage?

Leblanc Burst Mage => Assassin She has a really high burst but unlike other burst mages she is also mobile. She can get in, one shot someone and get out so she is more like an assassin like Fizz, Zed etc.

Ahri TwistedFate Burst Mage => Catcher They mostly picked for their utility because their damage output is really low compared to other mages. Ahri has the worst AP ratios out of all AP assassins/mages and Twisted Fate's abilities aren't that damaging either so they can't one shot someone unless they are fed. But their catch potential is really high. They hit their cc and let their other teammates do the damage, they more like a second support of the team. They can also catch the target with their ults. So I think they should be classified as catcher like Morgana and Zyra.

Lissandra Burst mage => Battle Mage Her burst is weak compared to other burst mages (except for Ahri and Twisted Fate) and her abilities have really low range. Her low ranges and low cooldown on her Q makes her more like a battle mage than a burst mage.

Edit: Janna with item 3089 item 3285 item 3020 item 3100 item 3165 item 3907 + electrocute can also one shot someone when 'fed'. That doesn't make Janna a burst mage. Same thing goes for Ahri and TwistedFate . I am not saying they are supports but they have to be 'fed' to one shot someone unlike other burst mages.

LeBlanc got reclassified when she got her rework.

Ahri is most definitely a burst mage lol, specially if she hits her Charm.

TF becomes a burst mage after Lich and another item.

Liss I agree.

Burst also doesn't equate to one shot, it means taking large chunks of HP in 1 rotation.

If a champion needs an item with its own AP scaling to match half the AP scaling of an actual burst champion, they're not burst.

Also, burst does not mean taking chunks of HP in one rotation. Anyone who requires more than one rotation to kill (when ahead/even) is a sustain damage champion. Chunks of HP would be the definition of a sustain damage caster.

Actually burst means that. Sustained is ryze. Burst is annie

Sustained is azir(for the sake of conversation) Burst is ahri.

Burst is long cd Sustain is short

The only time a burst champ's damage can't kill is when you're behind or attacking someone who's building defense.

Ryze and Azir deal "chunks" of damage at a time. Ahri and Annie are able to kill in a single rotation unless they're behind. But even then, 60-90% of the target's hp isn't small enough to call a "chunk".

Which is what u do to counter bursters. U zone them Udeny them U make them waste the burst.

She wasnt an assassin after her rework. Which is why they classified her as a burst mage, they just havent changed it yet.

Assassins deal burst damage, as do burst mages. It's just that there's a single word for burst-melee characters.

Uh, no?

Burst is large chunks and are champions generally gated by CDs.

Sustained are someone who do damage at all times so their not gated by CDs

Champions like Azir, Cassio, Ryze have reletivily short CDs but don't generally deal huge chunks of damage. While once they hit their late game potentials they can deal "bursty sustained damage", they generally don't hit as hard as Ahri, LB, Annie, Veigar who literally can 100-0 you in a quarter second.

While Ryze is kind of the exception to that rule and has burst and sustained damage.

But Ahri for the sake of this conversation isn't a sustained damage dealer, her CDs are far to long and like most other burst champions if she hits her 3 spell combo she'll kill you real real fast. In the old classification she was considered a Mage/Assassin while LB was considered a Assassin/Mage. Kinda like how Vayne and Twitch where Marksman/Assassins and Quinn was a Assassin/Marksman.

Most Mages at their core are burst mages, including Artilery mages like Ziggs, Lux, and Xerath. They do a lil less damage but from afar but are capable of bursting someone out if they catch you mispositioned.

Twisted Fate's damage is low? Have you ever seen a fed TF 1 shot someone with a stun card followed by a Q?

Similarly, if you get Ahri and successfully land a E and lets her do a rotation, the opponent is basically out of commission, or else she has to back due to CD. She also has only 1 CC in her kit, and her job is about getting that 1 shot combo. It's a classic case of burst mage.

And Liss is more of a "catcher" more than anything else, because of her extreme CC.

Leblanc, Ahri, and TF rely on combos for their bursts, which typically include skillshots and limited CC. Assassins don't need much CC and have better mobility.

Lissandra...may be a battle mage, actually. Food for thought.

There is not a single ranged champion who is assassin

Burst mage is pretty much just ranged assassin

Le blanc has always been assassin it doesnt matter how riot identifies her. She is more assassany and has always been more assassany then entire roster quadrupled

The Ecdysiast6 votes

There is not a single ranged assassin

Leblanc, who is ranged, has always been an assassin

Oh I ll clarify

There is not a single ranged assassin according to Riot

Le blanc has always been a ranged assassin in reallity despite them trying to classify her as a burst mage

Catcher is a term used to mainly refer to supports, and while both Ahri and TF do take a backseat in the carry category, both need gold income to do their job properly because they're bringing both damage AND CC. You technically can win off a lucky Charm or Gold Card if your entire team is ahead but that could be said of almost any good CC, you're mostly a damage champion and need in the income to function. Also, while their burst isn't that strong in the early game, they both do considerable burst damage in the late-game.

Also, Liss is not a battle mage. She has always functioned in pro play as a one shot mage that needs to blow up one target or she's basically not pickable because they'll eventually get QSS and if she can't blow them up before then she's worthless. Roughly the same applies to solo queue.

TF is a Burst Mage because his main purpose is damage, since he only has one CC/teamfight utility option. His damage is low because he tends to reliably land all of it every time he uses his gold card in one go, then leave, hence burst. He's not much of a catcher because that card is tied to his autoattack range, and he has no immediate mobility or speed to get in range with, limiting it to followup outside of flashing or ambushes.

Lissandra is listed as Burst because, to this day, they still can't get her kit working properly. They want her to be in the middle of everything, and keep changing things to make it work, but it never does.

For Ahri and Leblanc, just ignore what Rito calls them. Seriously, Riot doesn't know what they are, Riot doesn't know what they want them to be, and if they're calling them burst mages now, wait a month and they'll be assassins or kite mages again. I don't know what a Kite Mage is supposed to be in terms of League, but every time they call them that, it means the balance team is about to make people cry.

I'd wish there was a new category of mages. TF seems to be a utility mage with his strong waveclear, reliable CC, and of course the vision/tp that his ult provides. Orianna is also classified as a burst mage too, but she seems more utility oriented than burst.

Twisted fate with passive attack speed.

Considered completely Burst

Call them all whatever you want. Everyone will have a different opinion. They are all mages and they all deal burst damage while lacking sustained damage. Burst mage is good enough for me.

Lissandra is absolutely a burst mage. An AoE burst mage to be exact.

I have on MANY occasions bursted 2+ people at the same time in .5 thanks to all of her AoE.
