Ohmwrecker [Idea]

I will make this quick: Change Ohmwrecker's build recipe to Seeker's Armguard and Kindlegem - the stats will be health, AP, armour and CDR and same active it has now. This will grant more AP and armour choices for mages, as well as have an armour item that supports can purchase since supports lack armour choices if they need to buy armour. And having more options for your Seeker's Armguard if you need the early armour from a seekers and don't want to buy Hourglass it be a nice alternative.

I always like Seekers but im not a person who like hourglass despite knowing the item is insanely overpowered and needs nerfs (hourglass nerfs, not seeker's armguard) so more options seekers be nice and have our first health and armour ap item- the ap will be low like 50ap like how it is now but still--- Ohmwrecker's active made sense as a tower dive item so health and armour make sense for that and with AP for mages can pick it up- and since it is a support esq item supports have an armour item for them as well. kindlegem is also most bought on support or support types so everything makes sense for build paths and build paths where the roles that would buy ohmwrecker would buy the pre-items as well

I always thought that the purpose on Ohmwrecker was to make tower diving more feasible in games where Armor wasn't really an ideal stat to build lots of. In this very ADC centric meta where triple AD comps are common that doesn't make a lot of sense, so Ohmwrecker doesn't get built. It may not be a very good item even for its intended purpose. I think making it stronger at whats its for makes more sense then adding armor to it. I'd rather see it have MR than armor..

Its supposed to be something you can buy against a double/triple AP comp and not feel bad about while still being able to towerdive.

I agree, if u face an ad.heavy comp and have an tank running around with 200+armor, towers are no big issue anymore, but if u can't built that much armor u would want the active for towerdives. Makeing ohmwrecker an mr item would make sense.

I like the idea of giving more options for Seeker's Armguard though- plus more armour options for a support is not a horrendous idea- i was thinking more of the lines that the stats help against physical damage and the active against turrets

AhhShucks3 votes

I don't mind more options for seekers, I just don't think that is the niche that Ohmwrecker is trying to fill.

Stats that help against physical damage are already armor and health. If you are building those then you don't need an active agaisnt towers because armor/health is also the best way to mitigate turret damage.

The only time I would conside Ohmwrecker would be to enable me to tower dive against a team where I wanted to build mostly MR. MR doesn't help against tower damage, so an active that turns off turrets would be a nice thing to have. IMO MR makes a lot more sense on Ohmwrecker than armor would.

Stacona1 votes

health and armour helps yourself- the active is a support item dont forget so it helps your team to tower dive plus it is not like the item will give insane defense on its own - but it may help out support tank junglers to come back since all the stats will help them out quite a bit since they can maximize the stats

Sire Hippington2 votes

if the item is for supports that don'T take the tower agro the selfs, then there is no good reason why it should give armor+health iguess. I realy wouldn't mind more items building from seekers(or catalyst, or phage), but AhhShucks is right, The ohmwrecker active is way better suited for an mr item, to allow towerdives vs MR-heavy comps without building an ineffective stat in that situation.

Stacona1 votes

I was thinking more on the lines of the stats match what the active does rather than the opposite- like an mr item disabling turrets- ap health armour cdr is fine- but ap health mr cdr will be too strong- if you remove health you might as well get grail- remove ap you might as well get banshee or visage or locket- ap health armour cdr just seems more of a unique mixture, opens up more defensive customization that have some offense (hexdrinker/maw have defense and offense, they give health through their shields)

anyways- i was going for more the stats match the active, rather than give everything when the active is used- if you item had mr instead of armour it would continue to not get bought because of the alternatives you can purchase that would be around the same price range even if the alternatives are slightly more expensive

AhhShucks2 votes

In this case you don't want the stats to match the active. If I'm building armor I don't need to turn a turret off, armor already makes it do less damage. If I'm building MR I probably do want to turn a turret off, because that shit hurts.

If you are an initiator against a multiple AP team you probably need MR, but you also need to be able to turret dive so that the massive waveclear AP teams bring doesn't stall the game out forever. Ohmwrecker should be your go to item in this case. I see it as a pretty clear niche to be filled.

Armor itemization is already pretty good, there are only 3 decent MR items, and none of them do a damn thing about towers. ALL armor items already do something about towers.

one could combine that idea with old Ohmwrecker(Catalyst the Protector and Chain Vest), replacing the kindle gem with catalyst, so ir also get's another item to built besides RoA.

I don't think it will be a great choice for mages though, it won't give enough stats they want to justify an item slot, and the acktive isn'T to apealing for mages. For supports and tanky junglers it would be great though.

Stacona1 votes

Supports don't buy catalyst- and as a defensive option with offense with health and armour mages will buy it

Sire Hippington2 votes

i figure the main reason why supports don't built catalyst is that it only builts into RoA, which isn't what a support would want. Supports also don't built seakers, as they don't lasthit to get the stacks.

And i doubt that any mage would prefer Ohmwrecker over Zhonyas. maybe both vs a full ad-team, but full ad team is a very risky idea anyway.

Stacona1 votes

but the parts to seekers are affordable- and last hitting doesnt matter once you upgrade the item you can buy cloth armours and kindlegem and upgrade to Ohmwrecker

Ohm wrecker will be 1k cheaper than hourglass at least plus it has other stats - hourglass is an item that should get nerf'd and focused on more of the item being defense with armour and the active like why they separated Zhonya's Ring into offense and defense with deathcap and hourglass, but Riot forgot that and created hourglass with offense and defense- Hourglass should have the recipe changed to seekers, chain vest, blasting wand, same gold cost- and grant 100 armour, 80AP and the active

Sire Hippington2 votes

100 amor on hourglass...even with 40ap less, that would remove ad-mids from the game...

Stacona1 votes

3200 gold is expensive, so no, it is not like you will rush the item anymore because it gives less offense- getting a bunch of armour as a mage wont help your team win the game because you are suppose to deal damage, you will need your grail and deathcap and void staff for damage and then hourglass if you need the defense, not hourglass for the defense and offense like how it is currently--- AD assassins are overpowered right now, so things that nerf the ad assassins to bring back mages is not necessary a bad thing- a defensive shift will not kill ad assassins, because of the less offense you wont be dealing the damage you need to be doing as a mage- just less prone to getting one shot, even with combination of an alternative AP armour item

Lneacx1 votes

How much of each stat were you thinking? Is the emphasis on offense or defense?

Stacona1 votes

The stars would probably be like: +350 Health +50 Armour +50 Ability Power +10% Cooldown Reduction +Ohmwrecker UNIQUE Active

Possibly: +UNIQUE Passive: Friendly non-champion units within range [1000 units] take 25% less physical damage. (aka works with ally minions, plus champion pets like voidlings, heimer turrets, tibbers, etc.) This passive does not affect a mages' waveclear, but could make champions not getting played like malz and heimer to get played with tankier voidlings and pets against turrets and physical damage dealers.

Cost will be around 2000g-2500g - but no greater than 2500g to keep it affordable

Lneacx2 votes

...I think I asked the wrong question. oops. Stats are important, but I should first get to know Ohmwrecker's intended role before judging.

So what I actually want to know is: What's new-Ohmwrecker's niche? You mention AP and Armor choices for mages. Why is this niche what's best for Ohmwrecker?

Stacona1 votes

Physical damage defense for mages and supports - and Ohmwrecker's goal is essentially tower diving by disabling the turret --- there is a PBE testing going on with Ohmwrecker can possibly buff an ally turret as well as disable an enemy one- but the turret buff portion is just testing and nothing official yet--- health, armour, and ap i just think can go well with a mage and support for that physical defense since turrets deal physical damage, plus more options for seekers,

Lneacx1 votes

What does 25% physical DR for non-champions do for this niche?

Is AP/Armor a good complement for tower diving? Mages don't dive, tower or no tower.

Stacona1 votes

Minions and Pets/Pet-likes last longer under turrets (and champion autos and physical damage spells)

Mages and Supports - will support in a dive - even though they do not dive themselves

Lneacx1 votes

When you dive, the number of minions you have are pretty irrelevant since the divers will take tower aggro - or, in Ohmwrecker's case, no-one will take aggro at all.

Could Ohmwrecker be a better item for those who dive themselves, such as tanks or bruisers?

Stacona1 votes

Sorry, stronger minions is for pushing not diving- Ohmwrecker is for no one takes turret damage- even with heavy armour turrets still deal damage- just another target dealing damage can lose your the fight

SerBlaise1 votes

An item that is designed to be a pushing item would benefit well from armor (as towers do physical damage). I like this idea.

Stacona1 votes

i figured a tower dive item makes sense with health and armour

Avious1 votes

My AP support builds would joyfully embrace this item. Riot, you know what to do.

Oh my lord finally someone else who remembers that Ohmwrecker has STATS.

For posterity's sake, an old thread of mine: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4400273

I think this is a great idea.. and I think they should drop the active on it and just let it do it passively.. and probably a lot more frequent than 120 seconds.. I always thought this active was really underwhelming

kanacho1 votes

You could simply change the active to give immunity to turret damage to the wielder while increasing the gold required to make it (it only costs like 2k gold right now), therefor justifying lowering it's cooldown to something reasonable like 60-90 seconds, and buffing its stats across the board. It would make it so it's not just a waste of a slot.

Although I feel if it becomes too powerful in terms of stats, then people might rush it while laning to simply get an unstoppable snowball in-lane. Without a turret, there is very minimal counter-play against the enemy champion, and you would have to HEAVILY rely on your jungler to take back the lane at all more than likely.
