Ahh, then let me explain exactly what makes Darius stupid, at least from my perspective. Mind me, I'm going to be using his whole kit in this explanation.
The problem with Darius is that his laning patterns too perfectly synergize with his ultimate, and unlike certain other ultimates in the game, it makes Darius close to hazardous levels of overwhelming in many scenarios.
See, Darius is designed like a straight lane bully; strong engage, good combo, good DPS, veeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrry awkward team fight utility. Normally, this is perfectly fine. We have many champions that fill a similar niche, like Renekton or Pantheon, and they are perfectly balanced from what I've seen of the reds discussing the two champs (Pantheon's ability to fight dragon at level 2 unrelated to this discussion). So, the question comes, why does Darius apparently have so many people complaining about laning against him compared to these two champs?
Because Darius is too good at finishing the job. Pantheon comes very close, but 15% hp is arguably very low and you probably were going to die anyway. Darius on the other hand is a completely different monster. If a lane bully's job is to keep you below 50% health at essentially all stages during laning to keep you on edge, Darius can do this then immediately dunk someone to 0 with one more rotation of his abilities. Renekton has a nice and long combo using a lot of auto attacks to do correctly, meaning proper itemization, sitting in your own minions, or any cleanse/tenacity effects gives you a way to at least fight back against Renekton. Pantheon relies largely on his Q for his bullying presence, once again meaning proper itemization, or any good sustain effects, can keep you up against Pantheon. Darius though, it's significantly harder to counter him at all when you factor his ultimate with the rest of his kit. Built in Armor Pen and because his ultimate is true damage means that working around him through itemization is a non option, as health is hard to make an abundance of when on a low budget. He pulls people, rather than jumping on them, meaning minion manipulation is a non option. Because his bleed stacks up and does more damage with more stacks, not to mention unlocking the full strength of his ultimate, straight up fighting him is usually a non option. To top it off, because of the significant burst potential of his ultimate, sustain is a non option against him.
This is a huge part of why people complain about Darius' ultimate, in my opinion. It just rounds off the rest his lane bullying kit waaaaaaaaay too well. Out of context, if you look at his ultimate in isolation, you're right, it's not that insane. But when you look at in in context, when you see how it does waaaaaayyy too much for his kit, you'll notice why people complain about him.
