Can we add/strengthen support items and make them support only please.

The first time I feel like I actually had an impact on games as support, and I'm not totally useless when my adc is bad, mid laners have to abuse spellthief and have it nerfed to the ground. Supports are always so behind in experience and money. If you fall just a tiny bit behind as a support you're basically useless unless your team cooperates, which is rare in solo queue. Even if you get ahead as a support, you're weak. You've got to spend your first 800g on a sightstone, and after that your best buys are aura and siege items like Zz'rot. That's one reason Karma support is so terrible even after being buffed a million times. You can't take an AP carry as a support with 0 CS and expect to have a big impact on the game.

Give these items extremely harsh penalties for being used on anyone other than support and make them effective again. Maybe something like a 60 second penalty to the effects of the item and a freeze on the active if you kill 3 or more minions in a minute.

Additionally, the sightstone hybrid items item 2302 are pathetic. They're meant to be slot efficient but there are very few games where a support reaches full build. They have plenty of room for buffs, I think they should be re-evaluated.

Thoughts?

supports have, and always will be, on the backburner. Look at all the updates; past, present, and future. Mages, Assassins, bruisers, tanks, juggernauts. Supports aren't even appreciated in their own game. Something that you have to suck up and deal with if you're a support main.

I feel like anything that DID come out for supports would just get abused by a mage or something. "But only people with exhaust can buy the item, like the JGler needs smite to buy hunter's machete." Yes, but some people do take exhaust; Karthus. I've seen some Luxs with it as well, and even Morgana mids. If they did that, people might abuse it as soon as it comes out.

"They need to have support in their champion description, like Support/Mage, etc" Then Riot would need to update their champion roles/description because.. Ashe is considered a Marksman/Support; seems like too much effort on Riot's end for an under appreciated, but most needed role.

Easy solution that Riot will never implement: make gold generated from support items unlock special items like with Gangplank special coins. This way solo laners can't purchase them at all and you can have a meaningful power curve/itemization for supports.

But in the past, it didn't feel like supports were nearly as much weaker than the other champions as they are now. The last season, at least you'd probably be like level 9 when everyone else was level 10. Now you're like level 8 or even 7 if you've roamed much when everyone else is around level 10. That alone makes them significantly weaker as they have much lower stats and their abilities are on lower levels. They should be brought up closer to par IMO.

And yes, those hybrid items feel like they barely do anything. It's like 550 gold just for like 10% cdr and some other effects that are barely noticeable at all. Oh, and you gain 1 more item slot. Really though, they don't do much and do not seem to be worth getting very often. And they do not seem to be abused by anyone. They could easily cost around 200 less gold each and not be OP on anyone, they'd just be brought up into being viable.

How do you define "Support only"? tagged to support role?
