Last season for Ohmwrecker?

This item has been with us since season 3 and manages to avoid getting deleted. A rioter posted during preseason that they will rework the item one last time but never ended up doing anything with it. Is this the end for Ohmwrecker?

Is Ohmwrecker some incoming champion?

SkyBlade797/15/2016, 11:23:27 PM9 votes

It's obviously going to be Yorick's main weapon when he is reworked.

Would Riot be willing to simply remove an item that has an origin like Ohmwrecker? I wouldn't mind if they completely repurposed it to do something a bit more standard, but I'd be a little surprised if one patch there was nothing to honor Ohmwrecker's achievement.

They had an idea where you would channel a beam towards a tower or epic monster for extra damage but it got scrapped. The item needs another unique passive or active

BloodyTompon7/16/2016, 5:32:30 AM4 votes

The problem is the passive being tied to turrets. With each turret removed the item devalues, so it goes backwards in efficiency. Which half links into another problem: By the time it's bought turrets are mostly gone. The way to 'solve' this is to incentivise Ohmwrecker as an early item. That, however, brings much worse gameplay and many more problems than the one it intends to solve. i.e., the tradeoff is not a good one.

If Ohmwrecker is a good early buy, it fast becomes a mandatory buy and overshadows other itemisation. It encourages increased snowballing (which could enter the vicious cycle of buff towers => increased dependence on Ohmwrecker). It makes towers less safe and reduces the tension of sieges. It reduces the efficacy of other team comps. E.g., Split pushers rely on the safety of the team under turret to enable them to be absent.

In short it's basically impossible to make Ohm a good buy without making it bat shit OP and having a detrimental effect on the game. It will be removed as we know it and reforged into an entirely new item.

Well you can laugh all you want but Ohmwrecker is still the only armor and cdr item that also offers health.

The stats on this item are great, the active is situational but when in the situation that it is usable its awesome.

The main reason I don't use it more is because I feel the crit damage reduction and the attack speed slow on Randuins is a staple when there are adc's on the map and potentially a Yasuo, and I usually only build 1 of these armor items unless I'm vs a full ad team.

Now now, Ohmwrecker is a great CDR option if you- pffffthahahaha.

Meanwhile atma's impaler & zephyr were removed despite being picked up more often than ohmwrcker, without even being reworked.

Now I'm no professional, but I have the enthusiasm to make a new version of this item. The goal to provide both defensive and offensive viability in scenarios involving a turret. Either that be an enemy or an ally turret, it should be usable all the same to provide the most versatility. This item is also aimed towards mages.

item 3056 :

+250 Health +35 Armor +20 Magic Resist +45 Ability Power

Unique Active: Target a nearby turret, giving it a ring of blue runes around it that circle it and spark with magic. Each half second, a blue pulse is sent around the turret, dealing 20-56 [+30% of ability power] damage to all enemies that are still in it's radius for 3 seconds. Goes on a 30 second cooldown once it expires.

Cost: 2900 gold

So basically, use it on your turret to defend against a siege or a turret dive. Use it on an enemy turret to zone them out of their own turret during a gank or a siege. It works offensively and defensively. Only thing I'm not sure about is the cost... But yeah. This can do a base damage of 336 damage for all ticks at max rank and it scales extremely well -- however another issue is what if all the turrets are gone? I guess that's an issue current Ohmwrecker has as well.

It's still the only armor+CDR+health item in the game right now, so I don't see it being removed until they fill that slot. Also, it's not inherently BAD, per-se, it's just outclassed by zz'rot which both share the same base item.

Also, as it was suggested months ago, if its active gained a different effect on allied towers, that would be a huge boost as a niche item for countering siege-heavy team comps.

Evewynn7/16/2016, 12:55:23 AM2 votes

I hope it's not removed. Totally change everything about it, I don't care, but the name "ohmwrecker" deserves to stay in the game.

Ohmwrecker needs to be either deleted, or overhauled entirely.

Personally, I would go with the latter as Riot, because as well all know - Mages need a solid item similar to Hexdrinker to counter AD Champs. Why not make Ohmwrecker that item? Make it give you a Physical Damage shield when you reach a health threshold.

invisiblecat17/16/2016, 4:16:11 PM2 votes

It is too expensive for the stats it gives and the active only works in metas where turrets are really powerful

BigfootNamedYeti7/16/2016, 6:29:17 PM1 votes

I'm honestly thinking about building it in, it actually is a good item for what you get.

rtbf221479707/16/2016, 2:23:07 AM1 votes

I use it on Lee sometimes. It's a niche pickup but surprisingly strong.

Nyanza7/16/2016, 5:31:40 AM1 votes

Ohmwrecker's active should be on an assassin's item rather than a tank item.

morris17/16/2016, 5:46:15 AM1 votes

Let's not forget they even nerfed it in the preseason for god knows what reason.

WTBeGirl100EUhr7/16/2016, 6:08:31 AM1 votes

Aren't they buying it in LCK?

IS3E531E3F9643917/16/2016, 6:42:40 AM1 votes

from past experience riot would sooner remove items used more and more usefull then ohmwrecker

Scramrail7/16/2016, 7:19:41 AM1 votes

I think it could be repurposed quite easily into an active support-centric item that increases allied damage done to major objectives like towers and epic monsters via a debuff. That would actually potentially increase the kill priority of the support in the event an enemy team wanted to try to do an early baron or something.

Having said that however, such an item might make it simply ridiculous for teams with multiple earth drakes or elder buff to push down objectives, so that's prolly not a good idea.

SlashStriker7/16/2016, 10:04:06 AM1 votes

a reason why Ohmwrecker wont be deleted most of you don't do this or don't know how to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Inz0eniOMmA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuKUauIeyuA

xxxDogmanxxx7/16/2016, 10:43:38 AM1 votes

How to make people buy Ohmwrecker:

  1. Give it +500 Health instead of +300 Health.
  2. Make it cost 2900 gold.
Elikain7/16/2016, 12:10:22 PM1 votes

The item will not be deleted. Because the item is named after a player (i think it was someone with a lot of referrals in the old system), it will most likely be looked at and adapted in the future.

A Doorknob7/16/2016, 12:26:10 PM1 votes

I hope it isn't removed. It's got great potential. I don't see it being bad I used to get it a lot when I used to main support. It would grant my team the ability to tower dive mid game without penalty for 3 seconds. The issue isn't the item. The issue is the abundance of dmg that exist in the game. Almost any champ can get over 250 AD and even amumu or singed having 100+ AP somehow allows AP off-tanks to deal tons of damage. The game is broken, not item itself.

i like ohmwreckers active its stats just arent the best i have brought this item multiple times though when i have a dive heavy team and the enemy is like wtf why is the turret not firing i believe we should keep this item in the game just for those rare cases and the Yorick effect. yorick effect is when noones seen it and has no idea what it doeslol
