Why does Karthus' ultimate now hit no matter what

I've been observing from a bunch of streamer clips where the ultimate indicator would always hit the champion even if they are invulnerable during ability cast. Before you could dodge it with MasterYi's Q or Zed 's R, but now it seems like the damage goes through anyway. Was this a secret buff that no one knew about? It wouldn't be a surprise if it was a compensation change for the sake of him losing 50 magic damage at rank 1 Requiem.

Not gonna lie, this was the only counter play to his ultimate to where you can completely negate the damage (excluding spell shields and zhonyas); literally not being on the map or just being flat out untargetable. Now his ultimate will even try to hit dead champions.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but if it isn't then it is a pretty shabby buff for those Karthus mains out there.

According to the wiki, it did indeed receive that change two patches ago.

i think hes talking about karthus ult always locking on to you, even if youre untargetable during the lock on.

for example, if you were in your untargetability frames as yi while karthus presses the button (not when the damage hits), it will now lock on to you where before you would have dodged the ult.

did i read that correctly?
