According to psychology, verbal abuse in a game results in BOTH sides playing poorly.

As you are informed many times in a match, verbal abuse is heavily frowned upon league of legends, and you have probably seen that if you flame your teammates, will make them perform poorly than before. Generally it is proven that the person directly flamed will have their problem proccesing abilities cut by a whopping 61%, and their creativity by 58%. Also to note, a person belonging to that party or team will also have their proccesing abilities cut by 33%, and their creativity by 39%

What you might have NOT known, is that according to psychology the term goes, "If a person sights another being verbally assaulted, their thought proccesing abilities will be cut by 25%, and their creativity by 45%. Which in terms, if you flame or actually provoke your enemy and your ally bore witness to that action, you are actually bringing a negative effect about the SAME than flaming your ally indirectly. AND will make them more unlikely to cooperate. So yes, if you are clever enough you will notice from the above sentence this includes** mastery flashing**.

(Ever thought that the yasuo on your team constantly flashing emotes everytime he uses E looks stupid? Yeah thats basically this)

There is a reason why showmanship is highly valued in many competitive games and sports. You might have heard on the internet, provoking your enemy will make them agitated and make them less focused. BUT you must know that typically those terms come from** 1V1 PVP** and League of Legends is a team game which many parties are involved. Flaming and exssesive BM basically brings the game of both sides in poor quality and that is why it penalised.

I will still flash my mastery after every kill. I didn't earn that for nothing.

That would make your mastery boring to take notice of. It's better if you do it after at least a triple kill, or enemy jg invades in and gets a lead on you but you still get 2 kills (jg and person in lane).

Always better to be your teams court jester than than a jerk. I love to use my mastery emote in comical situations.

I forget to flash my mastery. But I enjoy killing people who don't forget to.

I let the announcer show my mastery score.

See, that just goes to show how much you're missing out on using mastery. I have my mastery binded to all of my skills, that way im constantly showing it off. It not only tilts the enemy, it also makes them scared. Seriously, low elo players gotta learn how to play the mind game, maybe then you'll get out of bronze lol

I don't have desire to really be a dick. And I also don't really play ranked.

Leafri1 votes

lmao who's being a dick, you're just showing you're better than the enemy. It's not being a dick, riot gave you the ability to do that for a reason, you need to abuse it.

Ralanr1 votes

That's called being a sore winner. Victory is enough. Salty players make themselves salty with losing anyway.

Leafri1 votes

it's not being a sore winner, it's taking advantage of the enemies weak mind to tilt them even more. It's to maintain your place on top. seriously, do you want me to give you some tips on psychology?

Ralanr1 votes

No, I understand the premise just fine. I just don't like it and choose not to do it.

Leafri1 votes

do you also not like winning? That's an interesting idea, but im pretty sure if you dont intend to win that that goes against the summoners code, which is a bannable offense.

Ralanr1 votes

I like winning. Just through defeating the opponent. Not by making them defeat themselves.

I don't see the need to resort to such tactics if I want to make myself better. This isn't war where any mistake costs me my life.

sigh, listen kid, just let me help you. I can make you good, if you are just willing to learn

Saw a MR 6 Riven constantly flashing their mastery emote. Slayed that mofo 3 times but in the end their team picked better timing for fights and we ended up losing. Made Riven look like an idiot, though.

Some people legit macro their emote to certain spells, like TF card pick. Its makes the champ seriously predictable and displays traits of a degree of...stupidity. In these cases it makes a larger distraction to the allied team rather than the enemy since the team goes like "wtf is this person doing".

Could you provide sources for these statistics, please?

Seconded.

I want to see if the researchers actually have a firm grasp on the real world but that is a huge problem in psychology atm when looking at behavior.

And if they do, I want to see if there is evidence that these results can be applied to League.

On gut reaction:

  1. No
  2. No
