Same shit, different champs

What I've noticed about the jungle, particularly in competitive, is that there is 0 variation in jungle picks. While 5.3 had a group of 4 that were played constantly, this patch has had a similar 3-4 junglers that do far better than the other picks. Sejuani, Gragas, and Amumu are exceptionally strong, especially in solo queue. If Sej or Gragas are banned, pro teams kind of "default" to picking Nunu.

What would it take to make bruisers equal to tanks, especially in solo queue? I feel like tanks are kind of the best in competitive, because games stall and they give gold to the AD carries. Will the new black cleaver do it, or would it take some more drastic changes to make it so that a team could pick a bruiser, tank, or even assassin whenever?

They bring more to the team than bruisers (esp. in 5v5 competetive) and are useful even when behind. You pick bruisers for early ganks and dmg, but the junglers in comp. are just a second support, building sightstone, aegis, frozen heart.

I think that CInderhulk is the best thing that could happen to this game. It maybe needs a few tweaks tho like removing of a challenging smite from the top lane because it's plain stupid and I am not sure Riot expected that to happen. Also, since Cinderhulk changed the meta towards tank oriented picks which is imo healthier than assassins and all those Lee Sins, Riot should buff Devourer so we could play AA farm oriented junglers like Warvick, Nocturne, Master Yi, etc more often.

Don't you think it would be fun if 1 team has a beefy CC machine with Cinder in their team while the other team is having a nasty Devourer stacked Nocturne? Both picks could be really scarry and usefull and I think that jungle diversity would be even at the better spot if that happens.

It is always boring if meta evolves around certain role eg. tanks atm or assassins few patches ago....with that slight buff to devourer we could get the reall jungle diversity :)

P.S. DO - NOT - BUFF - DEVOURER - TO - THE - LEVEL - OF - RELEASE - FERAL - FLARE - OR - FF 20.

Challenging smite needs to be seriously redone if they want that to be a thing... the problem with cinderhulk is that you can literally give it to ANY tank, including taric, and past 30 minutes it'll outscale a bruiser. They need to do some work on giving bruisers a competitive identity and giving junglers the ability to flat out carry. This is what set season 4's jungle apart from others.

The jungle was in the best spot it's ever been in toward the end of season 4. Ancient golem had the percent health and the clear that was looked for in cinderhulk, but it didnt have the obnoxious sunfire bonus that wins 1v1s in the early game. The power spike is too smooth for cinderhulk junglers and their spikes are even spikier because of it. Cinderhulk and skirmishers MORE than makes up for any deficiency in damage that those champs have, and combined with innate CC and tankiness, they become too good. EDIT: I'll agree with you on the basis that it reintroduced a lot of lost champs back into the meta, but i think that skirmishers and cinderhulk makes them TOO good tbh

Bruisers have lane dominance going for them in a way tanks don't.

I think they will nerf cinderhulk to take away power from tanks (that item is broken). But the real issue with the jungle is that there is only one play style that works. Farming every camp while being healthy enough to gank often and have strong ganks. The only champions that fit this play style right now are tanks and bruisers (3 in specific: Vi, Rek'sai, and Lee sin). You can only kill x camps/minute not due to clear speed, but due to respawn timers, so a farming oriented play style is inferior. Assassins (except master yi/farm based assassins) are supposed to farm champions but have a disadvantage in clear speeds and sustain (kha'zix and rengar both get beat up by the jungle really hard and have ganks that aren't really superior to tanks or bruisers ganks in most scenarios) , so that play style is inferior too.
