I'm really tired of Lux
You wanna talk generalist mage? She wave clears amazingly, has a double sided shield, long range ultimate
You wanna talk generalist mage? She wave clears amazingly, has a double sided shield, long range ultimate
Amazing wave clear?
Which champ is that?
Am I missing a joke or something?
I think the joke is that Lux's E won't even clear caster minions on its own and would require an AA and the passive proc to actually do so.
This does get mitigated if you get Luden's though.
I mean her ult has a shorter cooldown then some champions main abilities..
That is just 100% inaccurate. Is it a low CD? Yes, but not any lower than some assassin ults like Zed. Guess what? Both of them get to ult 1 time in a team fight.
with lux you can ult at very beginning or before a team fight/ group thing and ult again to clean up if the fight drags on long enough.
not really with 25 percent cdr her rank 3 ult is on a 37 seconds thats a really long fight with 35 she has it on a 32 second cd she will only get to use it once per fight
guess what i mean is you can use it as poke before a fight and still manage to have it up by the time the fight ends.
32 seconds you'd have to poke really far before a fight most tanks wouldn't be too affected and could mostly regen back up before that time adcs could lifesteal sure mages or supports would be at a disadvantage but most supports are either tanky or have heals or a shield. so really the only role which would be put at a major disadvantage from this would be the enemy mid laner.

Lmao 32 seconds for a massive teamwide nuke. Jesus christ thats short. Should be like 60 seconds +
Lux ult Cooldown 80/65/50 Zed ult cooldown 120/100/80 Lux's highest win% item build and masteries gives her 25% CDR, meaning her ult cooldown at level 16 with just morellos will be a 40 second cooldown. There is plenty of extended teamfights where she may actually be able to use this ability twice. Also her ult is VERY versatile. It can be used like a Jinx rocket to snipe people who ran away from a fight, your bind makes it very easy to 100-0 people at level 6 with it, and also it can be used for quick and easy wave clear with so much range you could clear bot or top lane with it from the river. Zeds ult hits one person, Lux can hit all of the peoples.
If you're letting her get two ults off and no one has either gone in and engaged after the first one or just left the fight entirely, that is always your fault. If you cant play around the CD's and windows of opportunity, you don't deserve to win the game.

Her range is nuts, shes super hard to get to without putting yourself massively out of position.
Katarina ult CD = 90/60/45. Blitzcrank ult CD = 30 at all levels.
She's freaking annoying. On the other hand, having to deal with all the Lux players led me to learn LeBlanc, who is suddenly one of my favorite champs ever. Just remember that Lux has counters. Play someone with a blink spell (Zed/Talon/LeBlanc/Kassadin), get good at using that champion, and all your Lux problems will go away.

Long le bl main here
Sorry but you dont really want to pick le bl Into 800 range mage with 3 shields
But why learn to counter when we can just ban her and ask for nerfs? /s
Her AoE CC, safety, range, scaling, and snowballyness makes her annoying af. Her ult deserves a CD nerf or slight scaling nerf imo
Who the hell plays xerath when u can play lux. No need to try and land ur spells with lux. Safer lane. Equally long range . Much better ulti.

thats an issue of xerath, not lux. his ult is extremely unreliable which is the only reason hes not played along side her with the same winrates and playrates right now. from a perspective of poke and burst, his base kit is actually very strong, if not stronger than that of lux.
Maybe xerath is undertuned or weak when compared to lux? But I remember a time when xerath was obnoxious , hence his nerfs , and his current state. So what do we buff him to make him like lux ? He will be obnoxious again? But he will be on par with lux. That means only one thing. Lux is obnoxious in her current state . Period. Maybe if u tone her down a bit xerath a popularity might go up a bit, because people won't be like I wanna play a safe long range Mage : who do I play lux or xerath ? Why on earth would I pick xerath over lux ?

any champ is obnoxious to someone. mostly when theyre strong and youre not playing him.
In his defense Xerath and Ziggs at their prime were wayyyyy worse than Lux is now. Lux at least has to ult to clear waves now, but Xerath/Ziggs got all 6-7 minions before they even got CLOSE to the tower.
Fun fact: neither Ziggs nor Xerath got their waveclear nerfed. Ziggs' big nerf was to his Q hitbox and Xerath hardly got nerfed at all (stun duration at max rank reduced by half a second). I would know, the latter is my main.

still, the fact remains that there's no reason to play either of them if lux is on the board. she brings waaaaay too much and has no specialized purpose at all. her immobility is mitigated by her double sided shield and her 4 second snare, and you can be bursted into oblivion if you get hit by the snare.
these lux mains are also the same people that complain when early pressure junglers are in meta, which i find hilarious
"how dare you play something that exploits my champions' immobility! this is ridiculous!"
thats an issue of xerath, not lux.
I disagree entirely. And so does Riot.
If there are multiple champions that fulfill the same strategic niche, often times there will be the case where one is simply just better, for one reason or more (better matchups against meta champs, better item meta, kit numbers, etc.). This has happened for years; a really good example of this was late last season, where Graves was picked every time over "Lose-cian," or Xerath was picked every time over Ziggs. Even now, it happens in top lane with Naut and Malph over Maokai.
This is exactly his point: why pick Xerath, when you have Lux? Yeah, Xerath might do more damage than her at the thing he is specifically supposed to do. That's good. The problem is, that that's all he's got over her. On top of doing almost as much long-range damage, she also has a shield for teammates, a better ult, better zoning potential, she's safer in and out of lane, she has greater catch potential and greater burst potential...Like, on a scale of 1-10, why pick the guy who is all 6s except for one 9 instead of the girl who is nothing but 8.5s.
Even without that argument, it is a fact (according to op.gg) that Lux has the highest win rate mid, and has the highest pick rate. She is clearly crowding the space around other champs in the same class, so she is very much a problem.
"We removed the damage boost from charm on Ahri because we don't want to encourage "fishing"."
Allows Lux to fish with her Q.
Difference? Lux's kit will kill you at any stage in the game (seriously, getting 100-0'd by double Dorans is embarassing) while Ahri's need build up. Lux "fishing" hits two targets, Ahri hits one. But you know rito games....says one thing, means another...

ahris abilites are easier to land because of her ult.
she can ult in your face for a point blank charm, hit you with q and w and ult back out before the cc runs out. skillshots dont mean a lot if you have a reposition tool that almost guarantees you to hit them.
lux at her strongest was never as strong as ahri when she was op. ahri had actually one of the highest winrates in the game at some point.
lux numbers are pretty high right now, but her kit itself is balanced.

If she could cast charm while ulting ... That would be true. But you can use it once she fully dashes. Which makes it easly to telegraph. Same thing is with Le bl W into chain... No sorry but just because you dash near target doesnt make a thin skillshot easy to land
Lux q has way better range and I am pretty sure its wider to. + it hits 2 targets . Also Ahri charm is useless if you dont have few levels in it
Damage wise lux is really strong. For gods sake she can take out a target in a second from 1100 range

wait for the 1 ability your opponent has, that can stop you from landing your chain. then dash in with a point blank charm.
its still incredibly easy. ive played the champ, and ive played lux. both are easy to pick up, but ahris skillshots are basically meaningless when she has her ult available. the problem with lux is, that she has reliable poke with her e, but shes a sitting duck if she ever uses her binding.
you have almost a 10 second opening to all in her.

To be fair landing abilities with xerath is EZY to. To the point where I got pissed of last time I played against him because he seems like a blshit version of ziggs
Seriously xerath w range is insane Xerath q width is stupid as fk..
Only thing fair is his ultimate
Xerath doesnt need buffs. He is insane and snowally as fk in high elo His playrate is kinda low . But thats because there are so many zeds and talons in mid
How is his ulti fair? for the xerath player? might as well remove it would make no difference.
Well, Xerath ulti is trash right now because everyone's running high base MS builds. Normally it's mildly good in the hands of a good player. In fact, "fair" is a perfect word to describe that spell outside of this meta: there's plenty of outplay potential on both sides.
She literally does everything mages excel at.
Wave clear? Burst? Zone Control? Utility? Long range? You name it she has it.

why play ziggs, if you can play lux why play syndra, if you can play lux what's the point in cassiopeia, if you can play lux xerath? lux does his job, but with a more reliable long range ulti AND a shield viktor? lux does the same thing and controls zones better and has pick potential that viktor doesn't have i can keep going
You might have had me... until you brought up Cass, who has a completely different niche entirely so I don't even know why she was an example. "Long-ranged burst mage vs. short ranged sustained-damage AP Carry? Yeah, I can get away with that comparison."
Ziggs was overnerfed.
Syndra has better CC and more reliable burst
Cassio is clunky as hell
Xerath needs a rework he's basically a rip off of ziggs
Viktor is better MUCH better at zone control and sieging than lux ever will be, riot just didn't compensate him for the nerf recently but even then in a team viktor is no joke. Not to mention viktor has more burst than lux.
the only thing ziggs has is the ulty across the map stacked creepwave clear. god it feels good thoe
why play ziggs, if you can play lux
ziggs has been bad for while
why play syndra, if you can play lux
cause syndra has an actual stun and one orb does a third of your health. Lux can snare you. Syndra can stun stun>snare. I'd actually rather play syndra.
what's the point in cassiopeia, if you can play lux
She's being worked on
xerath? lux does his job, but with a more reliable long range ulti AND a shield
Xerath's poke range is higher and also has a stun. Again, stun>snare.
viktor? lux does the same thing and controls zones better and has pick potential that viktor doesn't have
Why pick lux then if viktor does the same thing? His waveclear is way better and again, he has a stun thats also a slow.
i can keep going
lmao go ahead. Lux is actually pretty squishy. Avoid her snare and you'll be fine. There are reasons to pick her but there are reasons to pick other mages as well. Just different comps. But I prefer stun over snare on a mage ;)
Oddly enough, Syndra has the lowest winrate in all of mid lane last i checked, while Lux owns the highest win AND play rate. Clearly Syndra isnt favoured at the moment. You also forget that Lux has far better poke, and provides a shield for her ENTIRE team. Also Lux's damage is basically entirely AOE with her ult and E and even her Q hits two targets. So while Syndra can burst one target, theres nothing stopping Lux from hitting 2 people with a bind, into her E, into her ult, with maybe even an auto or two for her passive.
She literally does everything mages excel at.
Wave clear? Burst? Zone Control? Utility? Long range? You name it she has it.
This is not unusual. Most mages excel at all of those things - the only unique tool she has in terms of mid laners is a shield and that takes up an ability slot that on most mages is more CC and more damage. Lux is not generalistic to the point of being a balance issue (she's a balance issue because of too high numbers) - Ahri and Azir are the only mages with that kind of design.

And the high numbers give her way too much burst which is something she should not excel at.
Also not all mages excel at all those things. Ziggs lacks utility when compared to Lux, so does Xerath. Viktor lacks range and utility when compared to Lux, Ahri lacks wave clear and utility when compared to Lux.
So don't feed me that BS. Most mages don't have more CC and more damage that is bullshit.
Mfw Ahri has just as much waveclear as Lux since neither of them can clear waves w/o Luden's.

Everytime ive mentioned Lux being overloaded, I get downvoted to hell.
I just hate how hard she is to punish. i can see her make a dumbass positioning mistake and cant get anywhere close to get to punish her for it. Way too safe, allows bad players to win games purely with her safe kit.
All I ever see these days is
and scores like 9/0/5. I'm legit surprised when I see a Lux with more than 2 deaths in a 60 minute game tbh. She's like Janna. If she's died more than twice you should report her for intentionally feeding.

again. the problem here is mejais. its a snowball item that in concept can already not be balanced, as these items are only useful on champions who can use them without risk or minimal risk of dying.
but when theyre effective theyre automatically overpowered. the concept simply doesnt work if you want to create a balanced game.
leviathan, mejais, and sword of the occult were relics that should have been removed in season 1 already. 2 of those items are already gone. its time for mejais to go aswell.
I don't think there's a problem with Mejai's (MS).
Dying with a MS is extremely costly for the user. With low stacks, it's a very bad item. This means the item is risky to build in the first place (very important to note), and therefore provides incentive for the opposing team that person down. Whereas if the MS builder had gone a more "standard" build, there's really not much the other team can do to that.
There is meaningful choice in every facet of that item. It's there when you're deciding whether or not to build it, it's there in playing consistently while you have it it, and it's there for your enemies who are playing against it.
Just my opinion. Your opinion certainly isn't without reason.

on paper this all sounds very nice, but in reality the concept of this item only works in abuse cases.
as the one purchasing mejais, you make a decision based on cost effectiveness of the item - nothign else - as its power is based on raw stats.
if the item is not cost effective upon purchase, the only way its not overpowered, youre taking a risk by buying it. if youre already snowballing, that means youre consciously putting yourself behind in gold again and give your opponent, who does buy a more cost efficient item like dcap instead the opportunity to catch up and shut you down, prevent you from further gaining stacks, and making the item worthless. in case of most champions this makes majais far inferior to picking up a big ticket item like deathcap instead and keep snowballing on this item. thats why you never really see anyone actually buying the mejais on a regular basis, even when ahead.
if the item is cost effective upon purchase it would automatically be overpowered, as it outshines any other option. you would get the potential of stacking the item further, while not taking a risk by picking it up. youre already ahead in kills and gold, which makes it more likely for you to contiue snowballing on your weaker opponent, than to get shut down. this is the same reason people right now buy deathcrap instead of mejais when snowballing. but if it is just as cost effective upon purchase, the mejais snowballing is even worse.
and then there are those cases like lux, who can play safe enough to reliably stack the item without putting themselves into too much danger. of course this still depends on the performance of your team to some degree. if you cant at least get some assists, the item will still be useless.
either way, there was never a way for these snowball items to reach a point of balance. right now, mejais is actually a really shitty item except for abuse cases (champions that dont take much risk by picking it up because theyre effective at long range). you can look at how lux snowballs with a mejais and see how the item would turn out if it was halfway decent on anyone else.
mejais is an item that creates two extremes, and thats why its never going to be balanced and should better be removed.
