You know what tilts me the most about laning against Cait?

It's not the fact that she posesses a high range and a relativel high safety due to that and her defensive tools.

It's the fact that she has to trade absolutely nothing for it and also doesn't have to work for it.

Sure, Jinx's rockets have a massive range, but if she only uses them she's going to run out of mana pretty quick, and unless Muramana Jinx becomes a thing... yeah, not gonna be a problem.

Kog'Maw can unleash devastating long range, but his longest move, his ult, can be dodged, and he also only has a teeny tiny slow as a defense in his kit, making him dangerous, but also possible to deal with.

Jhin has to play around his ammo system, and also his long range moves dont exactly do much unless you have already brought your enemy low by trading them normally (and even then his ult can be dodged), or if you plan to get close to them (speak Trap->W-> walk up to them).

But Cait? Massive range, extreme safety and all for... nothing. She lacks engaging mechanics as well as an incentive to actually WORK for her bonuses, she just gets it for free. Every champion has to work to display their strenghts, except Caitlyn who just gets a fancy rifle from her rich parents... now that I think about her lore, this unfair privilege makes some sense. It still feels horrid to play against tho...

Jinx's alternative to her long range rockets is a free huge attack speed boost. Her traps do less damage but can instantly cut off a whole choke point, her ult can't as easily be blocked and is a huge execution move.

Point is that Caitlyn's tradeoff for her huge range is not having the steroids+stacking passive that Jinx has, not having the execution power that jhin has, not having the tank melting burst damage that kog has, etc.

LoL champs aren't designed to have big glaring flaws, but instead each one is designed to have unique strengths that others don't.

Yeah but for these steroiods to come to play Jinx has to get quite close -> meaning she has to put herself at risk if she wants that. Cait is just too safe with too little effort behind it.

And for their unique strenghts most champions also have unique weaknesses, the more dominant the strenght, the stronger the weakess has to be to balance it out. However, Cait's only weakness is a relaitve lack of versatility, as she cant do much. However, that barely matters as the thing she does is enough to win the game for her.

i would be totally fine with that if it was the old Caitlyn, who was a strong lane bully but fell off mid game unless fed, and had an average late game

now she's an even bigger lane bully in addition to being stronger late because her headshot now has some 4-way scaling on it between AD, crit chance, crit damage and attack speed
