They dont even check the Dev Corner page. Meddler among others post and respond here quite frequently. Its literally an entire section dedicated to keeping people up to date with potential changes and feedback. Go check it out before saying Riot ignores us.

Yeah I think that's where the devs are mostly active at; they've mentioned this many many times. If you are upset and you highly want to get some insightful answers, your best bet is coming over there to reason in a respectable environment, not in this ghetto gameplay.

It's gotten to a point where I strongly believe that the people who are being rude/nasty with making ranting, insulting threads here aren't entirely upset with the current gameplay. They just are lazy and/or using the excuse of balance gameplay to vent their soul out. I could care less about what those people do, except I feel sorry for newcomers who have to put up with that amount of negativity and if they're not being careful they might go down that road as well.

I also suspect many people who claim Riot never communicates are the same people who get mad that Riot communicates through Reddit and other platforms too often too. They think that just because it's the LoL forum boards that it's the official place Riot must do all discussions, but Riot i think it pretty good about communicating on their platforms - with these boards just being another platform. Riot actually communicates a lot through these forums compared to their other platforms too, so I don't get the hate.

Yeah, even just seeing the headlines of those threads bums me out and makes me want to play less.

its more of the fact they (for the most part) ignore big issues, let things go through even when they have virtually no positive feedback and even when they dont work out they continue to try to balance the changes instead of getting rid of them like they should and it creates more and more problems, or they once again dont listen and give us a half assed non solution like the janna "nerfs" and the tower buff that pretty much beame a nerf because of the minion changes with it

He ignores questions about unpopular champs and answers all the questions about adcs/lux, ahri/etc

Elewd20 votes

thats just flatout incorrect, he mostly comments on what he talked about in the post he made, changes taht are currently on the PBE, and changes they have mentioned workign on in the past and how they are doing, he will sometimes mention those "unpopular" champs when people ask and he has an actual answer for it. He can't just sit there and answer every question, it could spoil some things or hype up things that arn't even in the works.

AMYS GRAVE3 votes

Exactly. That isn't a conversation though, that's a speech. There's no back and forth. There's no expanding the developers understanding of the community opinion. There is no attempt to understand whats being complained about. It is this approach to communication that led to them not understanding the problems with dynamic queue for 6 months. They were talking about all the great features without listening to the problems. They reply to the things they want to talk about, instead of what needs to be talked about. They used to have conversations about gameplay on the old forums, really going back and forth with the community, but that doesn't happen anymore.

They talk about the direction of the game without listening to concerns.

I unironically am glad that the developers don't communicate with this cesspool of a board.

I still haven't seen a single thread of substance. Every thread is literally "WAAAAAAAH, WHY DID A 9/0 ADC MELT ME WHEN I'M A 0/4 MAGE". It's absolute cringe

Because the vast majority of people on boards don’t actually give a shit about “balance”. They just want their role/champion to be buffed.

I don't want to be buffed, i just want my play to mean something, right now it doesn't.

Your play does mean something.

The meta is only slightly worse for solo carrying than it was a couple seasons ago - people just blow it way out of proportion. The fact is that people have claimed that "my team drags me down" from the start of the game in season 1 - so it's not like theyll suddenly stop complaining about it.

Huge misconception: Having a high KDA/CS/Damage does not mean carrying the game. It's what you do with that damage/extra gold that matters.

You could go 11/0 every game, and then die 3 times in a row at 25 minutes. Guess what? Your score will be 11/3 but you solo lost the game for your team. Or you could be 11/0 and not be grouped (not read the map properly to realize that the enemy team is collapsing on your team) and solo lose the game.

Look at most Challenger/high elo players, they have bad KDAs - but thats because having a good KDA doesn't indicate you being good, but being good will result in a high KDA.

PS: I wasn't even specifically talking about you, just boards in general.

My play only matters if i do exceedingly bad(like say go 0/13). if i go 0/5 or 10/0 it doesn't matter because i cannot push objectives as AP, i need the ADC to both A. do well and B. know how to play ADC and take objectives.

That isn't communication with us, that's communication at us. They are telling me what they are doing not discussing with about what should be done.

See the difference between an announcement and a conversation?

This is my exact issue with the Dev Corner. At the end of the day, the reason most design talk takes place there, rather than on Gameplay, is because the Dev Corner is a designated spot for perfectly packaged announcements that does not need to relate in any way to what the community's been discussing elsewhere. Some devs do respond to the comments, but their responses frequently either repeat what they've already said before, or simply tackle softball questions, while ignoring more serious complaints or giving them complete non-answers. There is no real two-way communication, and the disconnect between the devs and the players is palpable on there.

I think a good example of proper two-way communication was when Jinxylord asked for feedback on the Rengar revert: throughout the entire process, he asked players for ideas and input, which he implemented directly into his changes, and generally took the time to try to understand what it is players wanted out of Rengar, instead of just sharing his thoughts and following his own direction exclusively the entire time. It is because of this healthy communication that the Rengar revert turned out so successful, and it surprises me that more devs do not try to do the same thing in view of this success, especially since so many clunkers have been the direct result of poor communication with players.

Malix Farwin7 votes

The problem is they choose what they respond to if you go to the Dev Tracker you see they respond to things they agree with and not to things they do not. For example, a discussion about the Mage changes turned into Ziggs needs buffs. That gives the illusion of communicating without actually communicating.

I apologize, your Highness. I haven't realized that Riot's only allowed to speak when someone asks them a question and when they do, it better be precisely what was talked about and answered within a few minutes. Otherwise, Riot will be portrayed as not giving a flying duck about the community, not caring about feedback or just balancing League for pro play (or how reddit tells them to).

If i had a kek every time i heard that, i'd be the TOP KEK around here.

GigglesO5 votes

Its not even that. Its that we say.

Damage is too high on X

So they buff Y to counter X...

Now Z is all alone and can't fight either, so they buff him too, but now A can't fight Z so they buff A, but now X can't fight A so circle continues.

Instead they could have just handled X.

And Marksmen changes were already announced for the midseason, we knew this even before Riot Axes outlined the plan a couple of days ago. So Riot's dealing with the X factor. What can possibly be the issue with this argument, given that the entire class of champions and their itemization is being looked at, according to what the community actually wants?

GigglesO2 votes

But how long did it take, it took half a season of us bitching and moaning for them to finally do something. We aren't even sure they are doing what we asked them to do at this point.

The huge community outlash at runes didn't just "go away" like it did with the sightstone/gold gen changes. IDK, 8 seasons of this, and this is the longest they have just left us in the cold.

Tomoe Gozen1 votes

But how long did it take, it took half a season of us bitching and moaning for them to finally do something.

If the whole point of you (the community) was to bitch at them for the longest time for a Marksmen focused update (bot lane) to tone them down, now you're getting what you want. You don't get to backpedal into a different argument of "it's too late now". If it was too late, you wouldn't be bitching about this much, even if the problem slowly crept up and has gotten worse after a few seasons.

We aren't even sure they are doing what we asked them to do at this point.

Riot Axes replied to a thread about the mid season changes. An official Rioter that's likely working on them. You were probably not going to get this information by someone from the skins team. What about the things he mentioned wasn't aligning with what "we" wanted?

People want Marksmen nerfed. That's fine. But if they are the DPS class, they're likely not going to lose this capability. What would've been the point of a Marksman in a game if they weren't able to do their job properly? This isn't about gutting a class, this is about fixing the issues they have. The issue is too easy (cheap) itemization, too soon damage boost (1.5+ items) and crit getting out of hand, almost competing for burst in terms of Assassins and Mages alike.

What this means? We'll see on the PBE in the following weeks for the next few patches.

I honestly get tired whenever I come to gameplay, and see the same type of threads come up.

For once, I just want gameplay to not be infested with complaints or unfounded hate towards x champion just because they lost against them. Maybe if there was better advertisement towards the Dev Corner or even Meddler's gameplay thoughts then this board sub-section may improve in quality.

KaiSá3 votes

posting generic vague PR response on the boards and ignoring any criticism like a plague is not communicating with the community. they literally only ever post super vague info and then they only respond to the thread for a day before no longer responding and they only respond to the people who are praising the changes or post none of the ones bring up valid criticism.

Tomoe Gozen1 votes

Yea, how fucking dare they respond only for a day in a thread before not responding anymore? It's not like they have something better to do, like their jobs, right? Instead, they should babysit us and, like Riot Support, be here 24/7 answering questions that were already answered because lazy people don't want to read through the thread with their responses.

Get your shit together Riot.

Well if i go to the Dev Corner knowing the ""Hot topics" and see none of them addressed then yea they still aren't communicating, they are just talking. No one still know the reasoning behind the changes and they have not created a sound argument for them except (LCS this and that).

Changes for what? Mages? Mages have been a predominant class of champions played mid for a long time. In order to support Assassins on mid a bit better, mages do need worry about their mana usage when it comes to their poke and clearing waves. Assassins don't have such control and they're oriented towards killing a target first and getting a lead that way.

Second order of business in having such mana changes is to make sure mages don't become the leading class on bot lane, when Riot opens up bot for more classes than just Marksmen.

Wild Geese2 votes

I've given voicing some concerns about the mana changes a go, but I really wish other people would. I'm just a baddie. Give it a try you got nothing to lose as long as you aren't mean...

Communication means they care and take into their plans players suggestions and that is not the case since they ruin the game actively for veterans to cather to noobs and casuals, actively flipping off anyone who want she game to be balanced.

The issue with Dec Corner is they read/reply to the first couple of pages of posts, then ignore the rest. There were 16 pages of questions from the 20th of april thread this morning, I didn't see a response past the 6th page, and doubt the ones past the 10th page have even been read. When should I expect a response if mine is on the 14th page? Where as if you post it here you know there's zero chance of a response, but there is a CHANCE they'll read it if enough people upvote/comment on it. That having been said the spam "riot burn in hell" etc posts are a little tiring.
