Aren't champions like ASol and Azir the ideal champions for Riot?

Both require a lot of learning to get down and make effective. Both, in experienced hands can be quite devastating. So if it actually takes time and attentiveness to fully understand champions like that, how come they are nerfed so much? Doesn't Riot want its players base to take time to learn the champions they design?

Pro Plays mate.

If Champs like Azir, Kalista or every other Champion with really unique or/and overload abilities are strong they are just Pick/Ban in LCS and/or really dominant.

EDIT: Also DPS on Mages is unhealthy. Normally Mages are reliant on some kind of CD before they can deal a lot of Damage again. But what if they deal lower Dmg but in a really short Time Period without CD ? That just kinda breaks the System. Its more complicated to play against them. That's basicly the Reason why Cassio and Vlad instanly jumped into Meta when Azir and Taliyah were gone. But thats just my personal Theory. Also Rylais . Fck Rylais

Let's not forget that kalista was actual cancer

Thats understandable

I think Sol is the only healthy DPS mage because of how his star orbit works.

Well, no.

Sustained AP damage has never been all that balanced in league...

AstroFerrari 2 votes

Well i did mean it more in way of a champion being designed in such a way where the players needs to put a solid amount time into learning it to actually get results, but the sustain ap damage is a whole other discussion haha

And the reason for that is that MR itemization is not designed to counter that kind of damage.

MR itemization is designed to counter burst damage, since that was originally the main source of high magic damage. Sustained magic damage effects were not effect that did really high damage - merely a good amount of damage over time as a threat factor. Meanwhile, Armor items are designed to counter sustained damage in more ways that simply providing damage reduction: Frozen Heart and Randuin's lower DPS output by reducing attack speed. Thornmail negates Lifesteal.

Examples of that magic damage as a threat factor from early champions are Amumu's/Mundo's W, Sunfire Cape, old Madred's Bloodrazor, Cho's E...

Those champs are versatile, yet incredibly hard to play. Pro-tier players (aka Master/Challenger/LCS) can play said champions well. Said versatility makes them broken in Pro-Play Events (Worlds/LCS/etc). Thus they get nerfed to balance around said pro-stage tier of play. Except they're so versatile they have to be essentially nerfed into complete shit, numbers-wise, to stop being a problem.

specter4242 votes

? Neither of those champions are hard to play or learn. Both were overpowered.

pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.

specter4242 votes

Just because you aren't competent enough to play them doesn't mean others can't

Astôlfo3 votes

And just because you know nothing doesn't mean others don't as well. shrug

"Aurelion Sol was the most broken champion in the game, after the nerf, he's still strong but manageable. "Here comes some hard cold facts" Any player that raised their elo significantly with Sol are boosted trash. The reason being is that when a good player and a bad player meets in lane, you can clearly see the bad player lose xp/cs and lose level over time, resulting in snowballing. But with Sol, a Bronze player can play the lane out easy against a CHALLENGER player."

Astôlfo3 votes

Uh. No. Not even close.

First of all, Aurelion Sol gets completely fucked over by any champion with a gapcloser or some form of CC which disables his stars. AKA, almost every single fucking midlaner. Second of all, learning to actually play and manage said passive stars for CSing/poking/anything else took a fairly large bit of skill.

Cry more.

specter4242 votes

That was a quote from the number 1 korean player on Aurelion Sol.

Astôlfo3 votes

Source? And that still doesn't change the fact he has no escape and is completely screwed by anyone that gets within said star-range or just CCs him.

Astôlfo2 votes

Sure, he's good at League. He's also an arrogant little shit, which is probably the reason why he got the same kind of ban that Tyler1 did. He also thinks everyone else except Faker and a few are garbage. Sure, he's probably miles ahead of just about every other player. But I really don't think he's just a separate god on his own, nor does it warrant that behavior.

specter4241 votes

He got banned for elo boosting not for toxicity.

Astôlfo2 votes

Well okay. Point still stands. He's incredibly, overwhelmingly arrogant. Sure, Aurelion is/was on the stronger side for those who actually learned to play him. Doesn't mean he's freelo/OP/whatever else you want to call it. So of course someone with a personality like him would go around belittling just about anything else besides him and like I said, a handful of other players. It's not limited to Aurelion, he was talking down to just about every single thing he talked about.

Do dodges appear in a match history thing? Because if not, just dodging any game with an unfavorable matchup wouldn't show up in "overall winrates" sort of data. Aurelion is ruined by certain unfavorable matchups and quite strong in others, provided the other player actually knows how to play him.

Well can't argue that. A Korean said it so it must be true. /s

The problem with Azir is not just that he provides sustain dps but he does it in a manner that does not put himself at risk. Now that's all fine and dandy to have range wave clear from safety since champions like anivia have range wave clear. The problem is that they also combine it with the shurima shuffle where he can gap open by large amounts and has the ultimate which knocks players into your team. It is a horrible combination and something out of the kit has to go. He can't have that sustain dps without putting himself at risk. When he gets jumped on he shouldn't have huge gap open to get away. Basically hard counters melee worse than heimer. And that's not a good thing. Perhaps if they halved the auto attack range of the soldiers they could get away with putting more damage in the kit but not how it is now.

There is a reason he was still dominant in pro play even though he sported a 44% win rate among the general population before nerfs. Too much tools in the kit when you know how to use him. Riot is too afraid to remove excess tools from a champions kit and like to do just number changes. That doesn't work in a lot of champions. All you do is leave them with every tool but too weak for any of them to do anything. But if you buff them, they become overbearing because they can do everything well. irelia is the perfect example. She needs a tool or two removed from the kit and buff other parts. Any numbers change puts her as unviable or too overpowered.

it is because riot can not reward complexity of play style or skill required, with winning.

otherwise you will only have 2 types of champions in the game: winning OP champions that you need to invest in learning, and trash.

As seen in mid Soraka, mid Janna, mid lulu, and even yasuo the ability to AFK-push at low levels with minimal mana investment is OP. Therefore every champion that has this ability gets the nerf.
