Game knowledge ALONE is enough to get you to Gold.

I've been smurfing with my low elo friends recently (playing primarily support and occasionally other roles) and merely coaching them in Ranked games. Since we started doing this roughly a fortnight ago, a majority of us have climbed from ~Bronze III to Gold V+.

Knowledge and Communication is 75% of LoL. The other 25% is mechanics.

Currently in the new "dynamic que" if you can duo or even do 3-4's you will win on communication alone. One of the reasons why I'm ONLY playing ranked on my smurfs until Rito implements Solo que again.

If you're consistently queuing in their games technically you're elo boosting them just by being there.

Communication in a trio / quad queue also has a noticeable affect on gameplay. Match making isn't so good at not matching 3's or 4's against pure solo teams.

All games are mostly knowledge. It's just some have more simplistic or easily executed mechanics than others. (Physical requirements for playing Chess Vs Starcraft is a good example of this)

Luckily league mechanically (Physical requirements) is relatively simple for a good portion of the champions. It's not as demanding to be competitive as other games like Starcraft(Continuous rapid timed actions) or fighting games (Long combos that must be executed absurdly fast and sometimes frame perfect reactionary actions are required to compete).

Technically if you duo/trio/dynamic your going to also have partners that aren't your homies that are much weaker/lower than you and enemy team will have much higher. Duoing or trios have been all bad experiences from what I've seen unless you do have a friend that actually is a smurf.

Because of the fact that this game's rating system rates you purely based on win or loss, it is impossible to get the rank you deserve unless you play enough games and are lucky enough to be able to carry a high enough percentage OF those games in order to get to the rank you deserve.

And that's why I don't play ranked. I don't want to endorse such a shitty rating system.

you can know what a combo is for the best chance to get a kill with Leblanc but unless you can consistently repeat it then that information is not that important.

Knowledge and being able to apply it is what is needed to improve in rank.

50% Knowledge 50% Mechanics. Mechanics execute what you gotta do to win.
