He is not. Shen is almost certainly up next, with a primarily gameplay update. He'll probably be followed by Taric, who we're planning a full visual/gameplay/sound etc update for. Warwick's a possible candidate after that, and a champion we've talked about, there are some other really strong candidates too though (Yorick especially could really use the work).

Shen is perfectly fine and is a good top laner with current keystones. Why not fix yorick mori? He will be all alone now that poppy is back into rotation. Bring yorick mori waifu back to the non-rotation zone! item 3070 Yorick item 3070

Shen doesn't really seem to have much playstyle in his kit, as his Q doesn't offer too much in teamfights, and his W is literally useless due to its outrageously low base shield. So yea, he still deserved a small rework regarding replacing his Q & W with something.

Shen should be maybe number 10 on the champs that need any sort of rework right now. He is in a perfectly fine spot, as there are much more basic champ kits. Like...WW for example. Hell Galio could use a rework more than shen could right now. At least shen is playable and being played in solo queue and professional games. Galio is like a running joke compared to Yorick who is at least just meme level and played some.

Narasimha4 votes

Just to jump in, I think it's more for the Riot team's sake than ours. They JUST got finished with a super high level rework. I doubt they want to plunge right into another one. They're probably doing someone like Shen as a break, just something to take it easy before they dive into another mess of a champion

Lovely Pants1 votes

Riot doesn't really schedule all reworks around who is individually the most in need of one, though. I think they like to go for what they would consider to be high-impact easier work for the majority of their projects. Champions like Urgot, Warwick, Yorick, or Galio thus are probably only going to get attention when the stars align the right way and it is convenient to do so. They don't have a very large dedicated playerbase and only have any bearing on the game when they can hold egregious power.

Can we have some small teaser of what's Shen's new Q & W going to be?

Do you guys have any current plans for yorick? I had a crap ton of ideas for a kit update on him but wasn't sure how open you guys would be to reading another one of my 3,000+ word posts.

Would Yorick be considered full visual/gameplay/sound like Taric?

In my opinion Shen's Passive, E and R are fine. Q could be changed I guess and W is useless after 20 minutes.

Who's Yorick?

What about Urgot or Fiddlesticks?

What about Urgot or Fiddlesticks?

Fiddle is okay just needs a bit of buffing, and Urgot is actually pretty good, and if item 3043 got just a slight buff, he'd be right back to played status again.

Shonjl2 votes

Say what is fiddlesticks in ARAM or Snowdown and he will more than happily show you who he is. Fiddle is godtier in howling abyss.

Solidair32 votes

Yorick is getting a Sion level update though, right? Does that mean you plan to give Warwick a Sion level update, as well? You guys usually claim that lower tier updates can be worked on concurrently with these very large ones.

I guess: what is the deal with ww's eventual update?

PaffWasTaken1 votes

I think they'll give him a different play style. actually, Warwick is only a simpler version of Rengar, with a chase/go in/kill and flee, just with some sustain. Some people now are talking about to make a jungler oriented for detection and strategy kills, and I think that would be a great role for WW, as he already have some of a similar playstyle already.

lmao How is Shen slated before WW and Yorick? Shen is being played a lot in solo queue, and even competitive. In what world does he need to be up next over WW or Yorick? He has no broken mechanics for good or bad, unlike what you guys Felt Sona had (when she didn't need a rework) or Olaf (when he didn't need a rework either) or Skarner (who you guys keep making worse and worse somehow, poor guy).

Seriously, what is the reasoning behind Shen over so many actually deserving (and in the case of WW right now, actual need) champs.

Shen requires minimal effort. Fewer guys working on him, and for a shorter time (probably only since World's).

Shen is getting reworked for the same reason he got nerfed: his Q makes it very difficult to bully and trade with him, and he relies heavily on teleport being good to stay relevant. With TP nerfed into the ground Riot is looking to add more out play potential to Shen's kit, making it easier for him to lane and encourage junglers to actually gank for him instead of islanding him.

First, Shen's update isn't as big as Yorick's (Or Sion, Poppy, Taric, Urgot, Warwick...). So it just happens to be that Shen will be done before Yorick (they started working on Shen some time after Yorick). Remember that designers are divided to pods- There are different teams working on different new champs, champ updates and other projects.

Second, play rate plays a small (and sometimes irrelevant) part when it comes to choosing the next Champion Updates- But then again, it depends on how healthy or not said champ is to the game. :P

PaffWasTaken1 votes

If play rate was actuallly an argument to make reworks, trust me, shen would be far from needing a rework

WhiskerWow1 votes

Honestly, it goes both ways.

If a champion is being played a lot, they should be fixed so less ugly/broken champions in each game

But, if a champion is not being played a lot, they should be fixed so they are more fun/good/pretty/not broken, so they will appear more often in games!

What about Talon? He's been untouched for months, years now.

Meep Man1 votes

I think they are planning an Assassin update later in 2016 for those that need help. Namely Akali and Talon.

3TWarrior2 votes

So was Swain until the masteries change

it actually increased his damage to what it should be, but then, his W gets nerfed

Shonjl1 votes

Whats wrong with Talon? He is godly still, probably the best assassin, on par with Zed even now.

ZLbSwAR23I1 votes

Terrible sustain and early game made even worse by the removal of Crystalline Flask. Many high level players and streamers sharing this view now. He can certainly 100-0 your ADC if he gets to six items but it's becoming very difficult to do that with him and games are rarely reaching that stage anyway.

Shonjl1 votes

Huh...I guess Crystalline Flash and Ravenous Hydra(and Tiamat at that as well) getting nerfed hard also had an effect.

Since only time I could ever see him dying is before he got his Tiamat, then you had to 100-0 him else he would get fully healed next minion wave.

DwarvenGiant1 votes

Meddler, please, I'm dying to know- Is Urgot's update still in the works? Last we heard about it was when the Ekko: Seconds teaser was released and Vesh confirmed that the Zaunite thug isn't Urgot and that he [Vesh] is the main (or one of the main) designer(s) of Urgot's update. I've asked this a few times already but got no answer. ;n;

Yours sincerely, a long-time Urgot fan

Nagoh Shan1 votes

Yorick's been the poster child for unhealthy gameplay and not allowed to function as a strong pick, hasn't recieved a skin for the entirety of his existence, and has been removed from the free rotation because he's so terribly unfun to play against and bad for the game.

You just said he's a strong candidate, and not a priority. This, reworks like Cass and Morde's, and frequent overnerfs/buffs is why people really question Riot's decision making and priorities.

It's just getting so bad lately.

Shahamut1 votes

Do we have any guess as to the progress of Shen's update? Like, will we hear more about it in the next 2 weeks or 2 months? Even something like, "we are really close to nailing his kit, but probably won't have any info on it till end of January or later..." would be cool.

Im excited for this update, so I'm always looking for more info! :)

Please, Please put Yorick as a top priority, it feels disgusting that riot pays so little attention to him because they said he is 'anti fun' and left him in a pile of overnerf like that. I thought by saying he was the most anti fun pattern character in league he'd get reworked so everyone can have fun with and against him, not super nerfed for years now. Its like when you guys were going to rework Evelynn.

Also, whenever I play/see warwick it hurts me to see that the fantasy behind a werewolf character is reduced to a slap fight rather than a violent force of magical nature but from what little faith I have left in you guys I at least hope both Yorick and Warwick get their rework next year (or at least work started).... Rather than giving people like Garen, Darius and Mordekaiser (specially morde) who no one asked to be reworked got reworked over Yorick and Warwick who need the most work.

Why is it okay for you guys to just icebox these two who you have to nerf whenever they're good?

(I understand people like poppy taric and sion getting work before them though)

EDIT: I am starting to wonder if you guys don't just rework the popular champions because you KNOW you can make money off of their skins.

May I ask why he is so low in terms of priority? As it stands he is older than both Taric and yorick. is it a combination of effectiveness or a lack of direction?

I ask primarily because of the teaser kit for him 2 years ago that was halted on the issue of visual update requirements.

Don't you think Cassiopeia should be made a priority since her rework was so bad? It seems like you guys should make sure you've done something right before moving on to a new project.

First Riot talked about the Warwick rework was April 2014. Didnt you keep anything of the ideas you had back then? Reminder: Passive - AAs deal 2% of targets max hp magic damage and heals WW for 5 +0,9-1,8% bonus hp, every hit gives a stack up to 10, each stack increases self heal by 11%, stacks fall off after 1,8 sec Q - Double Attack that procs onhit effects twice and increases ur passive healing W - Terrifies away from the center of the effect for 0,75sec E - Your standing at point A, click B, Warwick dashes A->B->A damaging all enemies in his path (+95% slow for 0,25sec) and you can use W or Smite while dashing R - Works like Sejuani Q but stuns first target hit for 2,5sec attacking 6 times (180/240/300 + 90% AP dmg), procs ur passive 6 times +18% of targets max hp as magic dmg

I never understood why they did not utilize this, if i remember correctly, they stated that internal testing suggested the kit was pretty good and they needed only animation changes.

Taric is next on the major relaunchs, with Shen having a kit rework and assassins in general getting smaller reworks (specifically Akali, Diana, and Talon for closer to medium sized reworks).

Warwick could use an update, but I imagine that Riot is a bit concerned, seems how he's a recommended starting champ for a lot of newer players. How would a rework affect his accessibility? I like the idea that he's a tankier, simpler version of rengar, where his job is to spot low champs and help clear them. It would be tough to keep the essentials of his gameplay while giving younger players an accessible, realistic experience of higher tiers.

Rengar is very different in terms of design from Warwick. Rengar is ability oriented, much more mobile, with much more damage.

Warwick is the simplest character in the game, and there is absolutely no need to make him so simple when it also means he has no effectiveness and horrible balancing issues.

New on hit item? Warwick breaks it.
