@meddler: please dont go through with the split stat system off secondary rune pathes

do what you initially wanted to do and go with a rework and addition of starting items instead, so each champion can customize his stat gains at lvl 1 for himself.

right now, no matter which primary rune path we chose, every single rune path is a viable option as secondary choice on every champion. but if you go through with the split stat system, youre going to limit our choices even more.

sure, Jax Irelia and other attack speed scaling fighters might like the combination of health and attack speed gained from resolve/precision.

but at the same time, it becomes a garbage combination for fighters that dont scale well with attack speed like Garen Illaoi whod rather want the flat 130 health. it basically limits our options to combinations of resolve/sorcery now, since health + ad is just a more efficient stat combination on these champions.

i bet other people will find similar examples, of how this ends up being a bad deal due to some secondary rune pathes being a lot more efficient than others with the split stat gains.

i can see a lot of mages would hate going into precision as secondary pathes when the path forces attack speed on them now.

same for resolve as secondary path when it grants extra health. a lot of mages and assassins migh absolutely have to combine sorcery and domination now, since both pathes grant flat ad/ap bonuses, and thats just going to be more efficient on them.

dont go through with the changes and go with your original plan of adding more starting items please. the problems youre trying to "fix" with the split stat system could instead be fixed by giving attack speed scaling fighters item 1055 equivalents that grant health/attack speed, and similar solutions.

don´t worry I´m confident that riot will come to a reasonable conclusion and then completely ignore it.

Ok, but how many of the fighters/bruisers/skirmishers etc. WOULDN'T like the stat split compared to the ones that do?

Regarding your examples, Illaoi right now isn't even going into resolve, while with Garen I don't think the split stats would really hurt him that much.

The problem is, if you don't do the split stat, several of the fighter/bruiser types are getting axed out of the meta because of how they can't find any runes to fit with them.

What this does may limit the flexibility of other classes(the classes you mentioned still rarely take resolve secondary, but it disincentives that option nonetheless), it balances out by giving the fighters a lot more options

but it would still hurt. that 65 hp loss at lvl 1 is going to hurt against a lot of lane bullying champions with heavy early game poke.

adding more lvl 1 starting items and giving those fighters better options to customize their early game stats would help them without hitting other fighters in the process.

theyre trying to help a handful of champions and in return theyre locking a dozen other champions out of certain secondary rune pathes, or even worse force many more champions into certain rune path combinations just for the early game stats.

if they do this shit, then how many mages and assassins will run domination+sorcery every single game, just to get the flat bonus ad/ap from both pathes early game over the less useful attack speed or health off precision or resolve as secondary pathes?

this is completely the wrong direction to go. theyre "fixing" the stat problem for a handful of champions and either force inefficient stats or fixed secondary rune pathes on even more champions. when instead they could help those fighters with better starting item options.

but it would still hurt. that 65 hp loss at lvl 1 is going to hurt against a lot of lane bullying champions with heavy early game poke. Against the other resolve tree users, both would lose 65 hp. This would only be especially painful for ranged champs, which need to be addressed as a much larger issue. Otherwise, the loss of hp "should" be counterbalanced by the extra dmg/dps dealt onto the other champ. Only the one-sided poke styles of ranged champs, Pantheon, and certain meta tanks are a problem to this because you don't get a chance to use the extra offensive stats.

I would say fighters have the most starting options out of any class. Cloth+4 pots, Doran's Shield, Doran's Blade, and longsword + 3 pots is a pretty large variety. Early stats can be customized somewhat through rune pages(but that's universal). The problem with starting items isn't just an issue with fighters, and is shared with every champ. But fighters generally still have more flexibility in starting items than other classes.

Again, I'm going to have to ask for a list.

They're going to balance the power of the minor runes with the stats. They will most likely avoid precision/resolve post-change, but the difference is that they were much more viable before than fighters. It's better to bring both assassins and fighters to a generally even playing field than to have assassins being strong and fighters being weak (hyperbole).

this is completely the wrong direction to go. theyre "fixing" the stat problem for a handful of champions and either force inefficient stats or fixed secondary rune pathes on even more champions. when instead they could help those fighters with better starting item options.

I still really don't think inefficient stats are being forced onto anyone. They either have a good, if not better already existing alternate option, or won't really be affected THAT negatively.

Secondary rune paths aren't going to be more constrained than they already are. Sure, assassins may take resolve less often, but were they really taking it beforehand? Precision is more understandable due to usage of coup de grace, but sorcery was already a great option for many assasins that some were even taking before the split stat changes.

Resolve/Sorcery, Resolve/Domination, and Resolve/Inspiration. All three of these combinations will not feature AS. Literally the only combination in which you get a less usable stat from your secondary path is if you go Resolve/Precision.

and right now, none of the rune pathes feature as when you pick them up as secondary. it only depends on your main path choice. theyre ALL situational viable choices depending on the playstile you chose. over the course of the preseason ive found myself skipping through all the rune pathes as secondary choices from game to game on the same champions, dependent on what id need for a particular game.

so yea. this change just limits options because it will make certain secondary pathes just always more optimal than others. a rework and addition of more starting items is much more suited to what theyre trying to do.
