Can anyone ACTUALLY explain all the hate for Akali?

Paroe··3 votes·2,553 views

Because compared to her peers Ahri Ekko Leblanc Zed Talon Khazix she is most definitely the more balanced of the bunch.

Is it just because people see CT, see her shroud, and scream "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"? Because there is no other assassin in the game who has her level of reliance on skill shots from far away, who has her level of unsafety when engaging, or who has her level of counterplay due to said skill shots?

Go watch T1 video of him tower diving alt tabbing typing out akali multiple times and still killing his Target.

I love not being able to see the burst assassin that can end my life in 0.1258 seconds.

Wait... Why didnt their target leave? Also, old Akali could do that too. People didnt seem to have a problem then.

FrozenFrostFyre1 votes

old aka had a much smaller shroud, and it could be revealed by pinks/towers. new akali? NOPE.

Old akali did must less damage over more spells/autos(even when fed). new akali uses 2 spells to kill a squishy target in 0.1258 seconds.

lets say both of them can one shot you with 1 rotation of their kit, old aka had to q r e auto you. new aka has to q r you everything else exists just to give her more mobility.

maybe people having a problem with her is a by product of the assassin meta, but she has unhealthy mechanics built into her kit intentionally (same as zoe) meaning she will one day end up in the fucking trash waiting to be reworked again.

Yeah, her shroud is a pain in the ass to play against.

It's not a matter of strong or weak, it's a matter of "Ugh, god damnit, I don't have the patience for this shit."

Isnt that a problem with the player that they refuse to play around it then?

If the champion is significantly more trouble to deal with than other champions in the game, then that champion is a design flaw with the game regardless of how often they win. There should be some amount of consistency in the frustration that champions cause their opponents.

BobaFlautist3 votes

I didn't say they refuse to play around it, I said they hate playing around it. It sucks. It feels shitty.

You asked me why people hate Akali, and I told you. I don't think whose fault it is that Akali is hated is really relevant tbh.

Stephenizgod3 votes

When a champion is universally not fun to play against, it is a problem with the champion itself. Whether she is strong or not, the fact is she isn't fun to play against. This is something that spans all Tiers and I'd have to say that people who don't have an issue with her are in the minority. In fact, the better the Akali player the more trouble she is and the less fun it is to play against her.

Similar champions: Ahri Evelynn Camille Chogath Fiora Darius Fizz Zed Jax Irelia Kassadin Kaisa Khazix Leblanc Pyke Rakan Shaco TahmKench Talon Tryndamere Yasuo Zoe

again not saying they are OP or need nerfs, they just generally are not fun to play against due to built in mechanics that allow them to "break the rules" of the game so to speak. Some of them are only not fun to play against because they are overtuned right now, so they can easily be made fun just with a few tweaks.

That is exactly it to a tee.

She's literally a free win until you get close to Diamond and people still complain. It's laughable. Like...why don't people like lp?

But statistics say you're lying? But she has a 41% (FORTY-ONE PERCENT) winrate in bronze? But she has a 43% (FORTY-THREE PERCENT) winrate in silver? Where the vast majority of the gameplay board plays? But her winrate only goes UP with rank? But her only winrate at above 50% is in MASTER? But she has a 48% (FORTY-EIGHT PERCENT) or lower winrate in every single Elo that isn't master?

What about numbers? Do numbers mean anything? Do statistics mean anything? Why are you talking out your ass? Why are people upvoting you? You are wrong. You couldn't be more wrong.

She has a high lane kill rate. An extremely high lane kill rate. Yes. That's what she's supposed to do. But what does she do with those kills? Not much. Get some more 1v1 or 1v2 kills. She does no damage to objectives. She can't use her empowered autos on turrets anymore. She's more of a killing machine than before while simultaneously being less of a useful machine.

chipndip11 votes

You're looking at it the wrong way. She's a free win if the enemy picks them until you get close to Diamond. The enemy picking Akali is a free win for you.

PhearBunny4 votes

She deals too much damage for how safe she is(Shes safe in literally every situation, even under enemy towers). She has the lowest average death of any champion in the game, by a notable margin. Mechanically there is no counterplay, she can only counterplay you. Her stealths uptime, especially with Zhonyas is too long and allows for her entire team to collapse on her mistakes, ultimately making her mistakes irrelevant. On top of that, her wave clear is too good for what she is. And her sustain is ridiculous. She is cancerous

it is disgusting how CT champs are becoming the standard of balance. YES she is balanced when you compare her to Jax, Camille, Zed, Yasuo, Kaisa, etc etc.(The pick or bans) That doesn't mean she is balanced overall.

I play against Akali in top fairly often. Her shroud is only frustrating in that its an effective anti-all in.
And shes not immune to vision, you can see her move in the shroud you just cant target her.

2Charmnot2Charm2 votes

Not being able to target her means you can't hit her with auto attacks (even if you're a mage auto attacks are important), can't hit her with target spells, AND the tower doesn't have a chance of hitting her with tower shots so yes she is basically immune to vision.

Sure you can hit her with skillshots but I doubt 1 skillshot is enough to discourage akali from continuing to fight you.

It also doesn't matter if you land CC on her ether, because she will still remain obscured by her shroud so you have no chance of retaliating whenever she decides to tower dive you.

Akali also has easier access to sustain than any of the others listed. Akali is also energy based and arguably the most mobile champ in the game atm. Hmmm I'm not sure what the complaints are about.

Alzon2 votes

The shroud isn’t the problem. It’s her sheer damage, both as waveclear and against champions in all types of trading patterns, along with her sustain. Her Q needs to be gutted. She gets more from her kit by mashing buttons over the enemy champion than Yasuo or Irelia who play around a minion wave perfectly.

ApollyonBainer2 votes

I think her sustain is stupid. She gets to heal off of her energy fully stacked when she uses her q. Thats like too easy and free. You dont have to worry about trades cuz wait like 30 seconds q 2 or 3 times and youre full health. Its like to lane against her you have to stack up 3 pots every time you back

chipndip12 votes

That isn't how that works.

Only her first Q from max energy heals her because the other Q's are gonna be at less than the healing threshold. And if you're waiting 30 seconds for a bit of sustain and somehow you're being "oppressive" in the laning phase then who the hell are you going against? A guy with one hand?

ApollyonBainer1 votes

Nah you only have to wait 30 seconds before you can fight again. Thats what I find oppressive

chipndip12 votes

How much do you think she heals off Q?

Like, let's put this into perspective, shall we?

Akali needs almost max energy to heal off Q. Let's say she's going into some ranged mage, right? Q heals for 40% of the damage dealt when you have enough energy. The move does 125 base + .65 AD + .5 AP. The most AP you're going to have from items, while building Gunblade first, is 40, so +20, and the AD you'd have at level 9 would be about 110 (base AD + Cutlass), so +71. This means your Q does about 200 damage at rank 5, assuming she just has the parts for Gunblade without the entire thing at level 9. You heal 40% of this in one high energy Q.

...that's like 80 healing. At rank 5.

Literally ANYTHING can negate that healing. Sure, you get ap from runes, but you're not going to get enough to significantly alter the numbers. She can easily be poked down through this amount of sustain unless she goes for minutes on end without receiving further damage.

ApollyonBainer1 votes

Ok you are right thats not a lot man. But its just kind of the icing on the cake for me. Like I just dont like laning v akali and thats what Ive focused my blind rage into. Imagine if ekko was an energy based champion with the same passive on his q. I would hate that just as much if not more. Just blind hate for that akali. I dont know what to tell you

chipndip11 votes

Isn't that kind of...off?

Like, where's the justification for that stance? The fact that she uses energy and not mana? I don't get what your issue is.

ApollyonBainer1 votes

I cant justify that stance. Just dont like that champion

I have yet to see Akali even surviving laning phase in my games... Everytime I see her, I also see why her winrate is so low. I assume the games she wins are against the same people who feed Zed by towerdiving him when his ult is up

Or people like me who tunnel vision and try to fight her in her shroud...

She hardly ever uses it to dive, its more an escape tool. The mistake people make about it is the same as trundle; Dont fight him in his zone. The shroud gets smaller over time and you can see her after image in it.

If anything nerf-wise for it, Akali shouldnt be able to weave in and out so fast. But... thats a minor thing.

Because games never change and its cool to hate CT, amirite? CT makes fun champions who the balance team generally keeps broken due to how flashy and cool they are.

You wouldnt blame a chef for the expediter over-salting your meal, would you?

Chalizard1 votes

I hate CT, most of his projects should be deleted from the game imho. However, I like new Akali, this time he did a nice job. This is by far the hardest assasin to play with and the most ballanced I guess.

I mean... Zoe needs some changes and Yasuos wind wall needs a rework, but a lot CT champions are purposefully kept overtuned by the balance team because theyre flashy and fun. Dont hate the chef, hate the line cook who purposefully over salts things.

Chalizard1 votes

Zoe is actually ballanced right now too but right after she showed up she was a nightmare. My problem with his champions is that they have lot of mechanics that they don't even need to use to be good. Also they often more require skill from their enemy than from their own player.

one defense against assassins has always been safely running under turrets. Akali doesn't provide that.. she can just shroud and turret dive you..

Inkling Commando1 votes

two word: smoke shroud.

when she is in her shroud she cannot be targeted (but still be hit with aoe) and if the smoke is near a turret the turret won't do jack shit against her letting her tower dive easily. and one thing i personally hate is her shurkin. she throws it and if it sticks in a target she can haul ass up to it and kill it before it can blink.

But Akali doesnt use her shroud for that unless shes very ahead. Even if she DOES use her shroud under tower, you just walk away because shes melee and needs her E to engage...

Also, every AD assassin is capable of diving effectively. Its not just Akali, further, Akali is STILL more like a diver than a true assassin.
