ashe becomes popular in competitive play right before her rework

It's so all her "mains" (read: played her for 1 week) can complain how she's underpowered or OP (take your pick, it will probably be about equal) when the rework is released on ≈ Thursday. Me personally, as someone who plays Ashe as my second ADC, I think the rework will make her a tad bit OP, but fun as hell to play. I like the new passive and Q a lot better than the old ones, but I am sad to see the bonus gold go (helped with my already crapy CSing)
I've played a good amount of Ashe on Live and I have to say, I can't play her on Live till the rework comes out. It's super fun, I feel similar to the Live version past laning but in laning I actually feel like I can trade and come out ahead of the enemy laner instead of focusing on farming. Volley is hard to hit if minions are in the way but it still hits hard and I feel like I'm capitalizing on bad positioning instead of getting a lucky freebie when I hit it. And they barely touched the ult which is my favorite part (slow is weaker, but most champs hit by arrow are either dead before the stun wears off or using their mobility spell immediately to get away so it doesn't really matter).
Mathematically, even if you get 350 CS (which is a high amount in a lengthy game) you are losing only 1050 raw gold. Her new Q (without the focus stack effect, just the raw AS) is worth 1800 gold while active at rank 5. Factor in the fact that she also can gain bonus AD steroid with the flurry effect and that she doesn't need to be uber late game to access that power, and in the end it is a major buff to Ashe, especially since you can still hit full build on her, meaning her maximum potential is actually a lot higher than before.
She hasn't been considered "trash". "Not as strong" maybe, but not "trash" tier. There was also a moment with I think C9 who used to spam Ashe/Zyra bot.
I think that was in season 3 when Zyra was super strong. Their ults also synergise really well.
That was C9, yeah. The Ashe/Zyra bot lane worked really well (IIRC) because ECA and Stranglethorn meant they could decide if a fight happened or not and a combination of Hawkshot and Zyra's plants worked to give them vision without needing so many wards. I'm pretty sure there were other reasons, but those were the only two big ones that I remember being talked about.
I've seen her in the LCS before so she was never truly terrible. Her issue isn't that she's been weak, her issue is that as a utility ADC she doesn't work out like a lot of people expect her to. She's always been a great champ for players who can think outside of the box and play her like she needs to be played.
Years? Season 3 had ashe zyra bot lane as one of the best bot lanes.
She's never been trash and I really hate when people say that. She just hasn't always been what they needed or been able to compete with blatantly OP bottom laners (Lucian, way back when).
You pick Ashe if you can kite and if you need her ult to initiate. She's a support carry, and if your team really needs damage and already has initiate, then you certainly don't want Ashe.
Simply put, on paper her kit always seemed lackluster and outdated. I think people considered Ashe trash simply because of that. With the hype around her rework, her pick rate has skyrocketed, and even I have to say I never thought she was that powerful.
Less mobility with "tank meta" so she can thrive in her role as utility carry.

shes so underrated. if she ults passive aa w aa it 100 all other adc with no extra hp
she's always been a good carry. easy to start with coz nice AA animation so easy to CS.
she's not trash, just as said, not top tier and easy to be caught if not positioned well. yo really need a team comp that works well with her to optimize her utility. a bit like miss fortune. she just doesn't work with everybody
Never actually considered Trash, the only thing holding her back is that her ult is useless against a coordinated 5 man team when multiple champions have cleanse and/or QSS/Michael's
I feel like ashe does well in the tank meta. She lacks the escapes of the corkis the ezreals the lucians the graveses the caitlins and so on, but when its 1 (if that) assassin diving past 2 tanks, instead of 2 assassins diving past 1, things get a bit easier for ashe.
I've played her on pbe and let me just say that her q is actually pretty overtuned right now. Unless you can outright burst her down she will shred your entire team alive while still having the same if not more utility. (Global double birds, ult is still good for picks/peel, hurrican is a valid buy on her = Aoe passive slow, Stronger slow with q)
That's been pretty common honestly. AP Nid came back in mid lane before her rework, Soraka mid was a thing before her rework, PoE played Cassio right before her rework, Veigar support came up right before his change, and so on. I didn't include Ryze or Trist since their reworks took long enough that it was probably in response to their domination for so long.
Wait... what competitive play? Honestly asking.

just repeatedly seing her pop up in diamond and master tier. not in LCS, but still in solo que high ranked games.
she was practically nonexistent a couple of weeks ago.

To be fair...Cloud 9 used her as their main ADC along with Zyra support and they were by far and away the best NA team that season.
Ashe has been quite good this entire season and yet there is this lingering perception that she's an awful adc. The only thing more wrong about the idea that
is a bad adc is the idea that
is a good adc.
