Yet Darius who is similar in the aspect of being a lane bully has to build tanky and maybe 1 damage item to stay relevant while riven has a 4 second CD shield dash and more CC than Darius along with damage.
Sir ArmaMalum2 votesWith a Darius Riven comparison I'd argue it's mostly a matter of skill floor. yes Riven can deal more damage, but you have to work more for it. Timing her E, weaving passive autos and overall jumping around. Whereas Darius is Q-->E-->W....Ult? Ult.
Riven is the result, in my non-professional opinion, of something called over-countering. She's actually really vulnerable to silences and counter picks, and because of that she's able to get away with such an overloaded kit but at the same time when she's played in something like Blind pick, where those aren't nearly as much of an issue, she can usually dominate.
redniwediS2 votesRiven isn't tanky when she builds full AD, she simply has a shield that can block damage. Bait out her shield before you try to burst her, or play someone who can actually absorb her damage.
Darius, however, is a bruiser, not a fighter. His great base damage allows him to coast through the early game with no damage items, while being tanky enough to out trade many other top laners simply due to damage absorption. On top of that he has built in armor pen, a magic damage DoT, and a true damage execute if you use it correctly.
Are you trying to say Riven is stronger than Darius? Are you really comparing a fighter/assassin to a fighter/tank when their play styles are not even remotely similar?

soliznoel1 votesRivens play style is only rewarding is you play aggressive, She only has a specific build path compared to most top laners, you can't(shouldn't)build triforce on her, You cant really build her tanky since she scales only with ad. None of her abilities can crit either, which is why it;s important to know how to AA cancel on her. Last thing, she has escapes because you can only go into the enemy team or out because they double as engagement tools also.
Darius on the other hand, is also a lane bully, because anyone dumb enough to stand next to him will be q'ed in the face. He doesen't need to move because he has enough tankiness and damage already to just stand there imo.
coming from a guy who has 130+ games on riven compared to jax who i have 19 on
