Why don't ranged champions have reduced effectiveness from lifesteal?

This would be an easy way to balance range vs melee lanes, allowing melee carries to go bot if tuned properly.

No, I'm not suggesting 50% reduced effectiveness on ranged champions or anything. Something minor like 20-33% reduced effectiveness.

Range is a huge advantage for auto attacks, just like AoE and DoT can be huge advantages for spells.

Why do ranged champions never pay for the huge advantage that being ranged offers?

Hell, this alone would make it easier to balance Graves, Quinn, etc. as well as be a step towards making melee ADCs viable without being completely over-tuned themselves.

Before anyone says it, "Because that's how its always been" is not a proper answer.

Melee people don't do well in bot Lane because a good supports peel. In other lanes, melee champs have advantages when they all in or have good skirmish abilities. In bot Lane, if you try to skirmish, the support locks you up in a vulnerable position.

Any why does this not happen with ranged?

Because ranged do not pay for the advantages range provides.

What you've said isn't an argument. You're only saying "Because that's the way its been" effectively.

Ranged champs do have tradeoffs inherant in their kits on an individual level. These tradeoffs are often mitigated by effective peel.
