Well the stats are out.
op.gg; champion.gg; and lolalytics.com all have their stats out now. By my personal thoughts.....
It can be seen that the current most complained about champ on the boards vayne is doing basically just as well as everyone is complaining she is. Ball is in your court now riot.
Akali has had a performance drop that may be going into the history books for falling off so hard in a patch. It can be seen that attempts are being made to make things better, but from the look of things that is looking to be a very long road ahead with the amount of power that was taken out of the kit from the assassin rework.
Shaco isn't doing as bad as people are complaining about. I really doubt riot is going to be touching him at all looking at things so far unless there is a gamebreaking bug that gets discovered. Mains need to stop complaining about his performance and take some doses of git gud if they want to continue to complain.
Dark horse assassins kha and rengar aren't doing as well as people are complaining about stat wise. These 2 could very will be being shut down by the tanks empowered by CoC and the supports empowered by the improved locket and new redemption.
Kat isn't looking as good either. In my opinion the skill floor and cap both got raised with her so maybe there would be changes as people learn to take best advantage of her mechanics. I've seen games with her go to extremes, either can really take advantage of the extreme mobility and is a threat, yolo's into their death often.
Considering the performance of everyone that can reliably make use of it, CoC is really strong. If your champ builds like a tank or AP/AD+hp juggernaut and has reliable hard CC use this mastery as soon as it is off cool down you should really consider it. Many are saying that the mastery is looking like it will be in need of nerfs in the future at some point, I don't, for the most part it is doing it's job very well.
Some champs are stand out users of the mastery. Naut was one of the most called out champs that would benefit highly from it, coupled with assassins roaming rampant of course he should be doing well this patch. Singed is the top laner I am most concerned about with this since anyone who has some experience on him can tell you even before singed could first blood most top lane opponents simply from being so strong on a base level if he decided to be more aggressive in the very early levels of the game. CoC not only brought up that ability to be a bully with strong trades in lane, it made his proxy playstyle much stronger and even easier to pull off.
In the jungle the change has been received very well for for many of the top options too since they can reliably tower dive in their ganks now, the combination of their mobility and/or tankiness already allowed that possibility before but this has made that a completely safe option on top of them already having pretty dangerous ganks for the enemy. Ivern took the preseason changes as a 2 hit buff, having a mastery that works very well with him and the jungle changes perfect for a champ that was built to counter jungle since that will have an even harsher effect on the enemy jungler.
I think it is more the champions that use CoC and are showing to be a problem that will need to be toned down before the mastery takes any hits if any related nerfs are wanted to be done. I don't think utility should at all be touched for these champs of course. Considering that most of the champs lean more into the tank class it would be best not to target hitting their defensive stats either, best targets in my opinion opinion are the damage and offensive fronts, most specifically for the scaling values (base AD scaling, ability damage per rank scaling).
Skarner is apparently immune to meta changes for many patches.
Almost every fervor on hit jungler except for jax have seen a very distinct drop in performance. Many of their lane counterparts also saw dips in stat performance. ADC's seem to be in a split of Runaan's crit build = fervor, More single target high auto damage = warlords, casters = dft, for the most part at least, some may choose to migrate back to tld like in early season 6, overall ADC's seem to have adapted relatively okay with the change.
The on hit champs will really need something to bring them back unless you plan on putting the similar work into all of them that you are currently putting into shyvana. The changes to rageblade and botrk wont make as much of a difference I think. Melee on hits (the bruisers) generally build trinity into tank and may really only build one other form of damage item, common factor that works with basically all of them being titanic hydra if they want a second damage item. The range on hit champs both have runaans as their core items but from there fall into 2 general damage type groups. AP/magic being on hit teemo and kayle. The other being the AD/physical champs kindred and kalista.
The bruisers will generally want to avoid unsafe damage options which rageblade will fall completely under, nixing that option. Blade of the ruined king will remain more of an anti tank option for bruisers even with the pbe buff, if they weren't building it before in general the change wont make them build it more. For those in the jungle they simply will not have room for another pure damage item in their builds forcing out both rageblade and blade of the ruined king as viable options for them. If riot wants these champs to come out healthy by means of items these guys would need either another more bruiser on hit item or you will have to put in the same resources to them as you are putting into shyvana. Although giving them the power upgrades you are giving to shyvana could end up with the same issue that came along with tanksassins, too much damage without the need for damage items.
The range AP/magic on hits kayle and teemo will have generally matching builds of runaans+nashor's+rageblade. Kayle was probably the only on hit champ that was a real problem case in terms of balance and health frankly. Both of them took hits from the fervor change but less so on the other on hit champs. They will both really enjoy the rageblade change and as the only ones that would be more likely to cap out their on hit damage it is possible that they will be the ones most likely to be profiting from the blade of the ruined king buff.
Lastly are the range AD/physical on hit champs being kalista and kindred, kalista of course having a whole host of known issues before the fervor change even came through. Both of these champs have been on the receiving end of having power continuously removed from their kits there may be debates about reversing any of the nerfs they have ever received. Kalista's build hasn't really changed much throughout the repeated nerfs but it was already admited that kalista will need to be looked at as a champ. Kindreds has on the other hand changed quite a bit in their little over year life on the rift. Hitting both kindreds offensive and defensive components of their kit has forced them to build generally more like bruisers to try to survive throughout the season after their latest direct nerfs. The preseason hit kindred in an inversely parallel way to ivern, mastery change hurt kindred as a primarily on hit champ, and the jungle change hurt kindreds passive strength. Looking at how kindred currently builds it may be better to compare them to bruisers in terms of the needs that the champ, so either a shyvana level attention/work or add another defensive on hit item into the game (almost definitely work on a champ level even if there is work on an item level like kalista but less so).
Another way to go about it without having to change many champion kits I think the better way to go about it is to have a more bruiser on hit+defensive item. I know unfortunately saying that gives people ptsd about atma's, but I feel that it will be the better option than trying to heavily tune over half a dozen primarily on hit champs (the community has learned to not trust riot on that after most of the have still been left in the dust after the removal of devourer). Lesson should be learned by now that riot wouldn't need to make the mistake of an on hit that scales with defense especially with titanic hydra in existence that isn't needed, but learn from it by having it scale with a stat that they may often be building or have more of in their kits, common denominator in this is attack speed. Inspiration can be taken from wits end as a pretty universally viable on the on hit champs of all types, could even give it a counterpart of an attack speed on hit item, with a passive that can scale up the per hit on hit damage by attack speed, and given armor instead of the more universal health to stop any double dipping scaling with hydra.
