I like this game and I'd rather not quit.
It's a great game, with great content and talent pooled together. The problem isn't the game itself. It's all of you.
I'm getting to the point where being a support main is finally wearing on me. We're egregiously underresourced, understaffed, and overworked with teams full of people who refuse to do anything except try to 1v5 the enemy team so they can get all the pentakills, or farm endlessly, even when they have a 8000+ gold surplus and full build with boot augments and a potion because they believe that late game will really turn things around. Nobody wants to pick champions or build or adapt in response to the environment around them. They expect the environment to adapt to them, and only in their favor and when it benefits them the most. In the thousands of games that I've played, I've yet to once ever see anyone build any form of armor shred even when the enemy team is largely composed of tanks, even when we are literally nothing but pure attack damage, even when I point it out, even if I were to carve it into people's eyes so it's the only thing they will ever see for the rest of eternity. It's stressing me like you could not imagine that people seem to go out of their way to refuse to adapt and change their behavior or tactics, even when it's to their absolute detriment.
There is no more legit discussion that I've seen. People just complain that things are different or changing or that someone is getting a rework or some other feature of the game that they've never touched. You never played Dominion, why are you complaining that it got removed? Just because the Institute of War and the eponymous League of Legends got removed, suddenly you can't get into the story because you're afraid it might get changed in the future, even though you never really cared about the story to begin with and the story is actually better than it ever has been. I look through the forums now and nearly every thread is downvoted into the negatives with zero comments. I don't know who to attribute this to, but this is ridiculous. I had a thread some weeks ago that was upvoted in the thirties, and then I woke up the next morning and it was downvoted into the negatives. More than likely this thread will get downvoted as well, with no one responding to it other than to sling profanity at me before they even read past the first paragraph, much less this sentence.
In the long run, this game from a community standpoint is unsustainable in both the short and long term. You continue to treat the support as an infinite and expendable resource, even after I've met people who have been waiting for a single game for over three hours because they needed a support, only to treat them like shit and attempt to rally everyone to report them for "being a fucking shit". Once again, even when you are paying a grave price for it, that price being THE EXISTENCE OF THE ENTIRE GAME ITSELF, you refuse to change your ways. In fact, you doubled, tripled, quadrupled, and quintupled down on it, built a giant fucking monument to your resolve to never change your ways, and then you come on here to complain once your actions have started to affect you.
I lost all sympathy and empathy for other players years ago because of the dedicated maltreatment and blinding stupidity. I went through the shit as a support main so you can play out whatever deluded power fantasies you have whenever you get a multikill. I almost never get kudos for saving your ass or setting you up for your kills, but I sure as shit take the fall for all of your fuck ups. And I'm not just referring to the ADC. This applies to EVERY role.
This is what the community has become. A bunch of maniacally depressed power fantasy junkies that hate everything. The few rational people get screamed out of the room, and the awe-inspiring talents Riot has gathered end up being squandered. I've seen many "I quit" threads that talk about how Riot ruined the game and their lives, but I've never once seen it the other way around. I like what Riot has made, but god dammit all if you, the community, haven't tried to destroy it. This isn't the end for me yet, though. I refuse to let you drive me off.
