What is being done to fix Diamond V?

I've been Diamond I in every season, Diamond before there were divisions, and Platinum before there was Diamond. This season, I can not get past Diamond V without an absurd amount of luck. Skill is completely removed as a factor in the outcome of the game.

It's like a brick wall. After having just decayed to Plat V, I came back and went 16-3, back to Diamond V rating. As soon as I reached that point, I started consistently getting hit in the face by players who are raging and have ridiculous scores like 1-10-2.

One-champion wonders. If they don't get that one champion, they play at a Silver level and AFK feed.

People who rely on cheese to function. They try to snowball off of an early all-in. If they get ganked before it happens or their all-in fails, they can't function and just AFK feed, because they need the gold advantage to compensate for their lack of skill and bad decision making.

People who were boosted. I get someone who is being boosted to Diamond V in probably 1/10 games right now. God knows how many were already boosted.

People who give up if they're down a kill. They don't know how to play safely, so they start spamming 'gg' and dying more.

People who have a small champion pool. They pick their champion with zero regard for whether or not their champion is hard countered or has any synergy with the team, which doesn't work here, no matter how good you are with a champion.

People who are 'on tilt.' As they walk directly into the entire enemy team and then type 'xd im on tilt.' They shouldn't be in ranked, period. If they've realized they're playing poorly and won't be defensive to prevent feeding, there's a problem.

People who didn't learn how to make good decisions. Particularly people who main champions with resets. Similar to the ones who rely on cheese to function, but slightly worse. They can be 10-0 and still throw games.

All of these types of players need to be addressed. They shouldn't be rewarded for playing like this, and Diamond V shouldn't have been allowed to become the clusterfuck it is right now, with the outcome of the game coming down almost exclusively to the worst player(s).

I just had a last pick adamantly refuse to support, so I was forced to do it, even though I had already picked mid.

He locked in Malzahar vs. Fizz, Diana, Annie, and Soraka. He didn't get a single ult off for more than half a second, and was the sole reason we lost the game, because he counter-picked himself.

This really isn't okay.

Just got four players who 'absolutely cannot play bottom.' Two of them only play one champion (600+ games as it this season), and one of them was banned out of it. I'm forced to either take a loss or dodge and be penalized. That's not okay.

Our Zed was 3-4-1 at 20 minutes. He decided he wasn't fed enough and didn't want to play.

We refused to surrender, because the game was 21-26. He started intentionally feeding.

This is a fucking joke. -20 LP for this.

Bonus match history. Looks legit.

My favorite is when I get someone who only plays one champion and has absolutely no decision making skill or awareness.

Lost again because top lane didn't ward at all and went 2-7-1, and mid lane was playing Azir for the first time. He couldn't even land his ult. He demanded mid lane and refused to play anything else. Again, this isn't acceptable.

It's a result of the "pick one champion to climb" mentality players have been trying to force on new players learning the game. It's all about making that next division at any cost even if it means focusing on that one champion. The result has apparently been a creep towards the top of players with this mentality.

Once they're at D5 most probably don't care, they made D5 they got their bragging rights, they think they're amazing and better than everyone else. They have no goals left but to show off the diamond with no ambitions of trying to compete at levels required for master+.

"People who have a small champion pool" can confirm i am that exact person. I got to diamond 5 but cant play any champion at diamond level thats not riven, rengar, or kha'zix

I was just jungling and fed our Katarina four kills. She then started jumping on literally anything that got into her range, whether it be three enemy champions or a tank. After having fed her, she basically died four consecutive times within a minute of respawning.

I told her to stop going all-in on anything that gets in range of her, and wait for them to engage. She started raging. Then our bottom lane decided the game was over, and the ADC stopped attacking and spent the rest of the game just walking back and forth.

Again, this should not be happening, and I should not have lost 20 LP for this.

I am diamond 5 right now and i have played velkoz main mid to get to where i'm at but can still fill other spots and hold my own. I completely agree and am disgusted every other game i have people that play a champion they have never played before (and feed) or just refuse to communicate and rage anytime somone makes 1 mistake. its diamond not god bracket i have heard alot of complaints i think its the strangest division i have ever been in. i honestly got in wondering if i deserved diamond but there are so many bad players somehow i no longer question myself and will continue to climb. the mute button will be strong in my future

Biggest issue with D5 is LP gain/lose ratio.

You can carry few games, be carried by another, but you will lose all LP you earned in few loses cause you where unlucky enough to get streak of afkers.

Another player who has hundreds of games as Pantheon, but zero decision making skill. He kept trying to 1v1 my Udyr when he obviously couldn't win and didn't clue in at any point.

I actually made a post to another Diamond V player with the same problem last night but I'll throw it here too

Every division V is the worst elo to play at, and being at 0 LP which matches you with the worst people.

Elo hell is the very top of the Division I prior and Divison V at every elo (I.e. PlatI-DiamondV, GoldI-PlatV)... This is because of LP clamps (which is why the game feels so grindy if you don't get to your real ELO from placements) and it makes people feel like they're stuck and makes people rage alot. Thats why you always see so many bitchy people in promos and 0 LP Divison V

There was a really interesting thread about this on reddit, had like 2k upvotes on the league subreddit, if I find it i'll link it

You can thank the league system... it's been like that for awhile

edit: found it http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/22lq70/my_honest_opinion_about_season_4_solo_queue/

http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1ofp95/platinum_1_the_real_elo_hell_is_this_real_life/

this one too, a Diamond I player LP clamped at Plat I

So more or less:

League solo queue is a gambling game. You can only control your own actions and you can't solo carry in high elo like in low elo season 5 because the players don't completely suck and Riot reduced the snowballing mechanics + games are longer. You can eventually gain elo but you have to grind out hundreds of games

That or duo queue with someone else high elo

Just lost a game where I was jungling, got three dragons, four towers, and was 4-1-4. And then realized that our ADC literally wasn't autoing anything in team fights and lost the game.

our ADC literally wasn't autoing anything in team fights

ikr! This is just so f***ing frustrating! I hate when my ADC runs away from a teamfight because Aatrox jumped toward them but is still 450 range away. Yet, Caitlyn runs 500 tiles away before realizing that Aatrox used his only gapcloser and isn't able to get to her... I'm a shitty ADC, I rarely win my lane and I'm often behind in CS because I get zoned early, but my lategame is 10x better than some those self-declared ADC mains I met at plat1/dia V. People need to learn that with an ADC, you're supposed to AA as much as possible, even if it's on a tank that takes 20 hits to kill, if you never start hitting, you'll never kill them. If you get 6 hits already while they're focussing on your tanks, then they're too low to continue tanking you for a longer time and will be forced to back off or die.

You're just getting shitty teams atm. It will go over. When I played ranked in season 3, I started at silver 1 and had quite some trouble getting to gold V. After this, however, I went on a winningspree right towards platinum V without losing once. It's indeed a lot about luck, but you just need to play enough games to overcome the luck factor.

Something really needs to be done to address this problem. I shouldn't have to spam 200 games to get out of Diamond V; the players in my normal games are better than 1/4 of these players in ranked.
