Riot has made this game into gambling to exploit gambling addiction

Its so clear to see now. All the choices made have been toward taking away as much ability to move as possible.

To keep you stuck in the same place for as long as possible while giving you the hope that you can actually accomplish something.

They realized that they can manipulate players into playing as long as possible by making the games as random as they can. That way you never win too much, you never lose too much, but most importantly you become addicted to LP.

Losing streaks -> You keep playing because you want to get yourself out of the hole Win streaks -> You keep playing because you feel like you are finally getting better to move up (aka "the high")

But in the end, it's not up to the average player.

What are the purpose of the pros? To fufill a very important part of gambling addiction: the proof that its possible to win.

Professional players that do these amazing climbs are essentially the guys that climb up those unstable ladders at amusement parks. Is it possible? Obviously yes, I mean that guy is doing it right there. Is it fair/balanced/likely that a normal person could ever do it? Absolutely not.

All of Riot's decisions are geared toward nothing but keeping you around. Keeping you playing. Spending more LP. Watching more LCS. The problem? They don't want you to keep playing because you enjoy it, they want you to keep playing because you're addicted.

You missed the point of the post but I'll help you out.

The point is that Riot wants the games to be as random as possible while maintaining the illusion that they are not

So they want to alienate their playerbase and attempt to appeal to the mobile crowd who will jump to another game in a few weeks?

How is that anything like gambling? Its a free to play game and spending isn't going to increase your chances of winning games. Sounds like you're just hardstuck.

You gamble with LP every match you play

Just because something doesn't cost dollars does not mean that it's not gambling

Isn't that... the point? Like, isn't it supposed to be challenging and require a tremendous amount of skill to be at the very top? It's entirely possible for Joe Everyman to climb that amusement park ladder if he puts in the time and dedication to learn how to do it, even if he falls off on the first rung when he tries it for the first time. If he keeps approaching it the same way and never learns what he needs to do to climb it, he'll always fall at the same point. It's not until he looks at it critically and analyzes his mistakes that are making him fall that he'll climb further on it.

Those also aren't at all a gamble, so I don't understand how that plays into the gambling comparison you tried to make.

Just to be clear you should know that the time to climb by definition for the average player in MMR is literally forever? It takes an infinite number of games if your the average player.

How can riot add on more time? What's randomizing match quality, teammates, or what ever do to make the climb last longer then eternity?
