Can Rek'Sai get a real passive?

PopcornBunni··21 votes·9,661 views

"Rek'Sai generates fury with her basic attacks and spells while unburrowed

While burrowed, Rek'Sai consumes fury to regenerate health"

That is the description of her passive. It literally just describes how her W works.

I mean shit, if that can be a passive here's a few more passives for the characters in the game.

Leona "While Eclipse is active, gain bonus armor and magic resist. This effect is extended if Eclipse deals damage to an enemy.

Gain bonus range and magic damage on your next three attacks after casting Solar Flare."

Corki "Enemies hit by Phosphorus Bomb are briefly revealed. Enemies hit by Gatling Gun receive a penalty to their amor and magic resist."

Ryze "Enemies marked by Spell Flux receive additional effects when hit by Ryze's subsequent spells.

Overload can be ranked up an additional time, for a total of six ranks, while Realm Warp can only be ranked up twice."

RekSai 's passive is far more of a joke than Lissandra's. At the very least hers is an actual effect in the game and not just a literal description of a spell in her kit.

Isn't Renekton 's passive also this?

Renekton has a few things going on with his passive

-Each basic ability gets empowered by 50/100 fury, draining 50 fury when using them -He gets doubled fury regen at low health

It's really the second of those that is a fully unique passive, but it's still more than Rek'Sai has going on.

The same goes for other fury/rage users

Rengar gets to cast spells off cooldown (in addition to them having enhanced effects) Gnar has a transformation tied to his rage Tryndamere gets doubled fury generation on critical strikes and gains passive critical strike chance from his fury Shyvana's passive is a completely separate effect from her fury bar

Rek'Sai's passive wording could just be added to the description of W. Her E already has a standalone note about it dealing true damage at max fury. Add the same to her W and her passive literally becomes "Rek'Sai generates fury."

Renekton's Fury gives him extra effects on his abilities though.

While Rek'Sai Passive only heals her and transforms her E damage to True Damage. Every other ability of her's is unaffected by Fury.

Rek'sai shouldn't even use fury if you ask me. It has no purpose for her.

Edit: I am gonna assume that the downvotes mean people want her to have fury, but I don't see anyone putting a reason why.

We do NOT need more resourceless champions.

Implying that Rek'sai isn't rescourceless already? That heal she spends it on is practically non-existant, and gating her E behind a different barrier to reach max damage isn't that difficult.

they didn't say "she shouldn't have a resource" it just doesn't have to be fury

I'm pretty sure he wasn't implying to give her mana, especially considering his response.

You could remove it, but it’s the easiest way to indicate how much you will heal when you burrow, even if the amount is negligible. What would be a better way to communicate to the player how much healing you have saved up other than the resource bar? On the topic of her E’s true damage, I could see it being changed to something like volibears bite (after basic attacking a set amount of times, it will be ready). Don’t necessarily need the fury for that, but it’s easier to just put the heal and the indicator of when you can bite on the same bar. I don’t think it should be removed, but they should make it have a more meaningful effect on the rest of her kit.

Grey health would be a better and more direct way of showing how much she can get back, but I feel she should still be a fury user regardless.

The champions that use the grey health indicator (Pyke Rengar TahmKench) gain it from TAKING damage. I don't think it would be appropriate for rek'sai to have that indicator if it didn't follow the same rule. Having a red resource bar is more associated towards health regen from inflicting damage, e.g. Renekton Tryndamere. Her regen being tied to the fury bar, which we both agree she should keep, makes more sense/wouldn't be thematically inconsistent with the rest of the game. [sg-lulu]

I agree; give RekSai old Poppy's passive.

That would be broken af. Something similar that could work would be to give her percent damage reduction while underground.

The heal part,is shit also,i had 4.2k hp on her,and i received like 130 hp for each fury consumed...come on...

It's a decently strong passive, just not in her primary role and not in the late game.

If you play her top, you can get two full passive heals per wave. Even as early as level 3, that's 80 health back every wave. It's a lot of healing as long as you can hit the creeps, but it falls off once you start stacking HP.

It's one of those spells like Morgana W. You can definitely play the champion in a way that makes the ability work, but their primary role/build doesn't support that.

Zilean needs a new passive too. That dinky "fill their EXP bar" thing is next to irrelevant.

Herlgar1 votes

The early advantage you can get really is significant. Allows your lane to hit power spikes earlier than the opponents and overwhelm them.

Karma too.

Why isn't this Ezreal's passive instead of his Q's effect?: "If Mystic Shot successfully hits an enemy, all of Ezreal's ability cooldowns are reduced by 1.5 seconds."

PopcornBunni1 votes

Karma's passive has an effect from level 1 no matter what. Even though it imparts an effect on just one skill, having her ult at level 1 and passively having a way to reduce it's cooldown is a real effect.

A closer example is Zyra, who has her W as the passive itself, just random. Previously she had an on-death passive separate from her plant creation.

Greystag1 votes

Damn, I remember the Zyra death skillshot.

I was obviously being hyperbolic in my reply. However, an argument to be made about Karma is how her passive is completely unexistent while her R is ready, forcing you to use it as soon as possible, and then forcing you to play aggressively while it's on cooldown to get it's worth.

I dont see why letting her see right where people are while underground is so "OP"

If this is a legit question, the answer is unlimited vision. In organized play this is invaluable and as a jungler pretty much means you'll never get caught and you can catch enemies from far away and coordinate it with your team for picks.
