First impressions of Sol

He's just a bad champ. This is nothing against Sol, but if he turns like 15 degrees you lose your MS. If he gets hit with almost any CC he loses about 1/4 of your damage (he is the only champ to have his passive shut off by CC and technically one of his abilities). His ult has a really awkward delay and is less useful than your Q (it does like 50 damage more). Your moving over walls can only go in straight lines and you have no way to change your direction after it. And to top it all off his Q response time is really buggy in about the first .25-.75s when it spawns. His AA animation has really weird wind up for no reason. His ult CD really should be like a 100/80/60s ult not a 120/90/60s. It should also have like 50 more base damage per rank. (quite literally the only damage buff I see him needing)

He's fun to play, but there is so much wrong with his kit that there is almost no way he will ever be seen in competitive play in his current state. He has no way to keep himself protected in a fight, he has to keep going in a straight line, and the most important of all he can't fucking hide in bushes. You practically are playing Azir that requires people to be stupid to lose to you. Sure you can kind of zone, but your damage is really eh for how projected his kit is. This isn't oh buff his damage kind of thread. No he needs an overhaul of his mechanics. His Q needs to be able to be popped within .25s of launching 100% of the time. His ult needs to not have a really weird delay (it's like a half a second delay). He needs to be able to turn while traveling. And he needs to not have his passive shut off when he is CC'd if it so the sole reason bushs don't hide him. Seriously even Karthus can sit in a bush and nuke you for your HP while you can't see him but Sol hitting you for 100s invisibly every 1s is a problem?

I feel like Riot went and made an awesome champion then decided that the entire viability of the champ is based on how bad the enemy team is.

right, because when I'm silenced, stunned, knocked up, charmed, or feared, I could have used my abilities as every other champion

You keep it as Yasuo MasterYi Draven Gangplank Swain Katarina Jinx Nasus Shaco Trundle Veigar Volibear Aatrox Sion . You don't just magically lose your passive for being CC'd. Every single champs passive is immune to CC. Why would this be any different? It is passive meaning its always up. If anything he should be stuck in whatever state that he was in. If it was expanded then it's stuck out. If its normal then it stays that way. You can already see the damn thing while he is hidden in a bush. That's already a huge drawback to it.

Because none of those champions have a passive that is a major source of their damage and requires no input from them to do it

I hate to tell you but no passive requires an input. It just happens automatically when conditions are met. So let's say you silence a Yi should he still be using his passive? According to your logic no because it is a major source of damage. But according to everything else in the game it should stay on except for Sol. Sol is the only exception to this rule and he is already punished by losing the ability to hide in bushes. And to top it off he has no control over it and people could easily just go around it or eat the one tick of damage and kill him. So I want to ask you. What is more consistent. Having it be the only passive to shut off during CC or to have it stay on during CC but he has no control over it.

I'd also like to point a finger at Veigar (AP from his passive on Q) who can use it to still hit towers while silenced. Teemo Thresh Zed Yasuo Vayne Lulu all have decent damage passives that can't be silenced. This isn't even just about silences. No body else in the game loses their passive while CC'd. And to add insult to injury Sol is the only champ in the game that can't hide in a bush. But don't worry he can go over a wall if you go in a perfectly straight line.

In order for Yi to use his passive he has to be auto attacking. In order for Yasuo to use his passive he has to be attacking and moving. In order for Draven, he has to catch axes. Gangplank, AA Katarina, getting kills Jinx, kills Nasus, attacking etc, etc, you get the point.

In order for Sol to use his passive? He doesn't have to do a thing.

It doesn't make you right though. There are other passives very similar to his that just happen on their own. Look at Quinn Fiora Volibear Lissandra Gnar . They don't have any real conditions that the player can control almost at all. They happen on their own. Even if you are stunned. It doesn't matter if the benefit is always going or not it still is something that the player has no control over.

So you are saying that because I stun or silence Volibear his passive should not proc? No that wouldn't be fair to Voli. Same goes for DrMundo that CCing him would stop his HP regen bonus. It doesn't make any sense when you look at every other champ then look at Sol who already has 1 major drawback for the same ability.

Those passives that take place on their own that you mentioned don't do anything unless you take a further action on them. Harrier or vital marks don't do anything unles you attack the person. Mundo' bonus regen isn't going to do anything unless you are participating in fights.

Sol doesn't have to do anything to get the major part of his damage off

He does actually considering he relies on his passive for about 1/3 of his damage. He has 2 actual damaging abilities. One of which is 100 mana 200-400 damage 120/100/80s CD. The other is an ability that has to be used within his passive. And his only other ability is a damage amp on his passive that costs mana over time and on cast.

His damage is less than Velkoz but has less CC overall and his mobility has high limitations.

No his weakness is being dove. Like any other cast reliant mage but for some reason he is also forced to run in a straight line which penalizes him for trying to juke. He isn't that strong besides the ability to run to lane with a massive star which is more of a cheesy thing that should be addressed. He doesn't have a point where you go "Man Sol is a real threat" you just kind of acknowledge he exists all game and that you have to dodge 1 ability before you can kill him.

When a champs theme is stars he shouldn't be running into lane like Sion.

I'm sure you have opinions, but do t assume they are actual fact.

He has been out only a few hours. He is nice and unique so its going to take longer to learn his nuances and to play by Instinct.

You may feel he is weak, but you don't really know yet, regardless of how sure you are.
