Riot lacks long term vision. Recent adc, scuttle and tower changes are the proof in the pudding

What will happen when:

  • You increase the cost of crit items so their powerspike kicks in later
  • You rework scuttle and put a ton of exp/gold in it so it becomes a highly contested objective
  • You even further nerf towers to shit / indirect buff to Herald
  • You buff Ignite, nerf TP and Heal
  • Buff the domination tree

Literally everyone can come up with that answer. The game will focus more on early game, especially the jungle hence making the game more snowball. What is Riots answer: Lets revert the increase of crit items so they can become part of the snowball and with that we are back were we started in 8.12 but with a more snowballing jungle, more damage creep in mid and toplane and towers being shittier. I have no words to describe how the Live Design Team can come up with this kind of bullshit. Their reasoning is beyond comprehension. There is no long term logic to anything they are doing. One patch they buff critbased carries and next patch they revert half the prior changes while at the same time half the champ roster has been unviable for ages and it only become worse.

JUNGLE

Go to any site and the first 20 junglers are all AD champs. The only AP jungler is Eve and that is because she is an assasin. Picking anyting other than a handful of champs will mean that you can't contest scuttle leading to:

  • Will get camped at all your buffs while stealing the other half of your jungle
  • You can't invade because you are underleveled and every laner will kill you
  • You can't contest drake
  • You can't take Herald
  • And when you gank a lane and the enemy jungler shows up you are at disadvantage

So basically you are always screwed hence we don't see anything being picked but Graves, Kindred, Shaco, Kha, Lee, Trundle and others who can 1 vs 1 eachother leading to a status quo were both parts are risk averse and just farm their side, ward and try to make safe ganks or just don't. This is exactly what we see in pro play. Farm until 20 minutes and 1 teamfight of 5 seconds decides the outcome of the game.

And because the jungle is screwed other lanes are also screwed when the higher level junglers shows up, or just took drake or soloed Herald.

BOTLANE

Honestly I think the adc crit changes were good but Riot lacks the long term commitment and vision to actually make it work. Adc's are still the most played champs in botlane and have the highest winrate along with Swain, Yasuo and Heimerdinger. Other than that its just adc's. But they rather cater towards some adc mains and adc pro's complaining that their champ is bad and make short term decision based of that opinion and LC$ and twitch views. ADC's are not bad champs, some just might be bad in the meta like what happenes to every class whcih has champs who are viable and others not or some classes like tanks who aren't viable in any role any more. Yet adc's are getting pushed again. It feels entitled and unfair.

The problem of crit based adc's is that the game ends before they hit their powerspike/get player agency over the outcome of the game because the game is too snowball and at 15 minutes 33% of the games the outcome has been determined by 90%. That means its a gamestate problem not a champ problem. What needs to be fixed is the snowball. The moment they hit their powerspike they crowd out all other classes in terms of damage and relevance so what you DON'T want is them to hit their powerspike sooner again bringing us back to square one patch 8.12. What you do want is to:

  • Buff towers and revert nexus tower changes
  • Revert jungle changes so the jungler doesn't snowball the game out of hand
  • Replace conqueror with something that doesn't deal true damage so tanks become viable again
  • Nerf Infernal drake
  • Nerf Rift Herald

Everyone in the game will benefit from these changes so games are not decided in champ select or by the 10 minute mark. The upcoming changes to crit based items is just another proof of Riot's live design team to have a complete lack of understanding of the current state of the game and they seem clueless. There is no clear direction on where the game is going.

have they even reverted the buffs that yasuo and the adcs got in compensation for crit being changed?

on topic though, riot has a history of going the easy route to fix a complicated issue which ends up causing more problems in the medium to long term. Best example is the thornmail change to counter sustain from the ADCs early/middle of last season, it fucked over bruisers/fighters for the next few months. Instead as was pointed out numerous times on these boards they should have removed the onhit hp steal from Aedent Censor and take a serious look at lifesteal, would have helped assasins who weren't in a great spot at the time and would have spared the bruisers from dealing with item 3076 item 3047 . Now we have conqueror, added for god knows what reason. Sion was the true tank doing well at the time and that was because of his E comet combo.

Riot is really going to start hating that they gave us that data.

I'd actually consider 55% to be done by the 15 minute mark. 25% or less is not enough of a chance of winning.
