I thought Kled was meant to be incapable of instantly gaining courage after dismounting?

LoL wiki says:

Skaarl the Cowardly Lizard COOLDOWN: 30 (On-Mount)

If reuniting outside of base Skaarl gains Frayed Nerves, and a Skaarl the Cowardly Lizard dismounted Kled will not be able to restore Skaarl's Courage for a brief period of time.

Yet this just happened to me: https://webmshare.com/omZqo

Can someone explain? Am I misunderstanding something?

Honestly, you lost that fight the second you started to back away. All of his damage is from his W passive, which is on like, a 30 second cool down early game. He NEEDS to fight you to get back skarl, if you can get him unmounted, and are ranged, just poke him. If melee, back out, wait for his passive to go off on minions, dive and insta kill.

It's 14 seconds, lower than my hiten style. I needed to back out or he would've kited me into the minion wave and lul, creep block. If Skarl hadn't come back when he did, worst case scenario it would've been a 1-1, but chances are that he dies and I live.

All-in-all, for a champion that does so much damage and is so good at hard-engaging, he sure gets a massive amount of survivability from Skarl. Remounting aside, his dismount mitigated massive amounts of damage from my Q, and every encounter I have with Kled I walk away feeling that he's just ridiculous.

Same happened to me recently. Knocked him off skaarl, and he got back on him, during the same fight.

Passive means he can't do it twice

Passive means he can't do it twice

I'm sorry but this is so bullshit. I really didn't want to think that this was the case, and I'm appalled to find out that it is.... What meaningful window of opportunity is there when he works like this, really? And please don't say call for ganks, lanes should be winnable 1v1 and if he can get ganked, I can get counter-ganked, which puts us back in the same situation... For a champion that does an absurd amount of damage and is extremely good at going ham and sticking to targets, he sure gets a shit-load of life-lines, doesn't he? I mean the rest I can deal with, but knowing that his passive works like this is the last straw for me...Kled is legitimately overturned. There's literally nothing his players need to think about or manage in this case, just attack and attack and shit will work out...You can even see in the clip that this Kled missed key abilities, but thanks to how overloaded he is he still won...that's just infuriating.

He won because you didn't understand his kit. Play around his passive. If you can't win the trade, then don't do it. Look at how much creep damage you took there, too.

Good lord, he won from your lack of knowledge and that is literally it.

Sounds like a massive burden of knowledge to me, and from what I can see he doesn't have much to bear. And okay then, Mr.Genius, how exactly should I have played that? Since you know so much you should be able to break down exactly how this match-up should be played, and exactly how Kled's kit can be exploited. Go on hotshot.

Because from what I can see, if there was a meaningful gait on his ridiculously strong passive, I would have walked out alive and with a kill - which from my perspective, is how it should be since he wasted an extremely core ability yet still stayed within my effective attack range.

Of course there's a burden of knowledge. If you don't know the abilities of your opponent then you're able to get picked off by them.

I don't complain that Zed disappears and then nails me from distance or that Kayle is a melee champion who can turn ranged with her E. That's all burden of knowledge and if you don't know what your opponent can do don't whine and cry here and berate people for pointing it out.

Operative word; massive, and he seems to bear very little of it. You can literally figure out what Kayle does and how to exploit her by fighting her a single time, so that's a bad example. Zed is capped by how well the player knows his kit, and even then, he's not particularly hard to figure out; he does damage - watch his shadows.

Kled? His passives have passives, man. Dismounting mitigates damage, courage...remounting...cooldown only under set, very hard to achieve conditions, I still don't know what his ulti does and the list goes on. Put your hand on your heart and tell me that Kled isn't overloaded.

And no, I'm pointing out that what my opponent can do is BS. :)

Kled's not overloaded, however, in the hands of a very skilled player he can be downright oppressive. Combine that with someone who doesn't even know what his ulti does and it amounts to a Kled lane stomp.

I believe it's that the second time he's dismounting in a short period, he won't be getting courage.

I dismounted Kled when I had a jungler coming to help me. He got back on, we CC'd him and got him back off. He couldn't gain courage the second time, so we just finished him off.

He gets a 30 second cooldown when he mounts (after having been dismounted).... so if you knock him off his mount of once every 30 seconds then he can gain courage immediately each time

Though if you dismount him twice over 10 seconds then he can't gain courage/mount for another 20 seconds

After he gets knocked off, he can regain courage right away. It's after the gets back on that he no longer can gain courage. If he were to be knocked off again, he would not be able to get back of Skaarl for a bit.
