If urf isn't meant to be taken seriously, why do we have things perma banned there?
Serious question. This is supposed to be a fun mode, but stuff like Ryze and lethal tempo are perma banned.

Because it makes the mode so very unbalanced and unfun for whoever is on the opposing side. I think it's to make sure no one gets absolutely steamrolled by a champion that would be really overpowered. Just my guess.

Then why is it only Ryze who's banned? We have sh*t like Wukong with perma stealth and I don't see him banned.
Because it would literally break the game. I don't know if you were around when URF was first released, but Ryze would literally permasnare you, and I mean that in the most literal sense as possible, I actually think the cooldown would be back up before the initial snare was over.
Because to have fun, you don't deserve to be completely and utterly destroyed by another player without any chance of retaliation. Granted, more champions should have been permabanned (Like Master Fucking Yi), but that's the general idea.
Tempo is banned because a single AS item lets you hit the AS cap.
Certain champions are banned so that people can have fun.

How can people have fun when
ruin the fun in any game they happen to be in?

Oh yea I forgot about Sona. Sona really has no reason being banned here. She's annoying for sure, but she definitely has counterplay.

These have no counterplay.
Least Sona's squishy enough that she can actually be bursted.

true fear
I actually think Sona wouldn't be as annoying nowadays in URF.
We have a lot more champions that can straight-up kill her, plus more readily-accessible sources of grievous wounds on top of URF's healing debuff.
She's basically free kills before she hits level 3, and even then she can only dodge so much with just E's movement speed boost and still has no real self-peel until level 6.
I find it funny how much science is put into a game mode that is meant to be unbalanced and one-sided as possible (you don't even get to choose who you play). When it comes to regulation games, they are absolutely clueless. They get more balance patches wrong than they do right. I mean if this were a fledgling company with little money or experience, it would be easily forgivable. But it's been like this for so many years. 8 years of mistakes that they refuse to learn from. And I don't buy the "League needs to change to grow" argument. I mean you have champions being released every few months for one, you have events that you hold bi-yearly, and so many rotating game modes that you barely use. You have so much variety in your hands, you don't throw it out and make things unbalanced as hell. Using the "change" argument is an insult to my intelligence.
Side note: Nerfing Teemo so he can only have so many mushrooms on the map at any given time prevents unit lag. I mean having a thousand traps would be a lot of units. If you add that to every other entity on the map, it could really slow the game down. This is one nerf that I think is acceptable. Everything else, not so much.
to be honest get
out of urf
