What is the point of the Challenger Smite DoT True Damage?

This is coming from a person who usually plays Top lane. As much as it is hard trying to fight a person who gets a slight exp and gold start at the start of the match, it's annoying having to deal with a person who rushes Cinderhulk toplane. I mean the person gets a free 6 second exhaust on-top of True damage every minute! I know that the item is being nerfed to 4 seconds on PBE but it's still the same regardless. You can barely damage the user and you have to decide whether to buy damage to try to keep up in farm or health to ease the trifecta of physical, magic, and true damage.... That's not to mention that with the other team having double smite, they have stronger jungle control too.

So I want to ask... Does challenger smite really need to do True damage? For junglers, they only have it for the defensive part of it, not the offensive. Say if the** DoT was changed to physical**, then it could have more counterplay than having to buy increasingly more health early-mid game since people usually buy cloth armor.

Okay lets start with the fact that the DOT true damage is actually a nerfed version of what challenging smite was when it started off; it used to be a flat amount of true damage on hit. This was even MORE broken, however, because high attack speed champions were doing immense amounts of damage in very short periods of time. Hence the introduction of the dot. The idea of the damage being true damage is so a tank that might want to build it, for example, can actually get some damage to deal with counterjunglers/securing kills. If the damage was made into physical, it would be useless on most tanks.

That being said, it has created an annoying playstyle top lane. While the playstyle is annoying, I don't think its overpowered. Generally the top laner doesn't have an escape when playing this playstyle outside of their ultimate. This leaves them vulnerable to ganks. In addition, they are considerably weaker in the early stages of the game before acquiring their smite upgrade. Even after acquiring it, they have absolutely no items that help them in a fight against champions. The 20% damage reduction that they are buying with the smite isn't really all that different than spending that gold on armor/mres; and it isn't active all the time.

While I think that learning how to play against the TP smite lanes is necessary, I'm not opposed to the 2 second nerf. While I don't think it will change the play patter significantly, I think it will help reduce the window where the combo works.

jungle item are way too efficient. it's really problematic. Same for support item. Basically tank don't buy tank item, they buy support and jungle item, there is something wrong. The team at riot that balance items are totally noobs.

Challenger Smite SHOULD increase the damage inflicted on the enemy (like Vlad's ULT) for next X second, NOT FCKING TRUE DAMAGE.

But then it would only be effective on people who already do high damage.

Skirmisher was made for people who like to fight (aka skirmish)

its not meant to be a burst smite

I think they should see how it does this (upcoming) patch and then decide whether to nerf it again.
