Xayah's damage output is currently too high for what she has.

Rock MD··58 votes·4,226 views

No bad anecdotes. No bullshit. Her damage output is just too high right now and with a little peel she easily solos games due to her untargetability+snare combo.

It's mostly how high her damage with E is.

Ya know if you actually built a Zeal item in most of your games you'll find landing her E is a lot easier than you make it sound.

Ralanr3 votes

That makes no sense. Landing it doesn't really depend on your items. Items only determine the damage.

It's almost as if having more attack speed means she puts out feathers faster.

On top of that her damage on E scales with crit chance so even when you're not building raw damage your burst still goes up.

Fair enough.

Building crit doesn't make it easier to land, just more rewarding to do so.

Crit is on all attack speed items except BotRK, so what I'm saying is that the double dipped scaling is what makes her damage so extreme, even for an ADC.

Ralanr2 votes

Though it does force her to actually build like an adc and would make her considerably weaker whenever something like lethality becomes meta.

Crit scaling abilities or passive might become more common on ADCs (Jhin for example) to better encourage them for building crit.

Combined with lower costing crit items, it allows them to scale faster.

Now personally I do think she hits too hard, but I'd rather the crit scaling just be reduced not removed. And not reduced to the point where it's better to build flat AD than the crit she was intended to build (like how lethality Jhin happened).

Tell me how easy it is to dodge the feathers from her R>E

ModAcademy Kayn18 votes

Use the delay time to position yourself in front of only one the feathers, by being near the absolute edge of her Ult's range. If she uses Q, switch feather. The farther away from her you are, the less likely you are to be at the juncture of 3 feathers. Move right or left if you see her using Q.

Salron3 votes

And what stops her from adjusting her ult so that you're still dead center after moving....?

ModAcademy Kayn18 votes

The only way you're going to be confirmed hit at the juncture of three feathers is if you're in the middle of her ult when all the feathers land. If you just keep walking away, even when the feathers land from her ult, it takes a while for her to land which is plenty enough time for you to get out of juncture range.

No distance is actually gained

Her feathers don't follow you, and her descent from her invulnerability isn't instant. I've seen people do it, it's not hard, you just keep moving.

But.. what if you're melee?

Joxcab1 votes

The only melee that should be even getting close to her are tanks that don't give a shit about her damage or assassins who'd have burst-deleted her or jumped on her before the teamfight started to force her to waste ultimate prior to the teamfight and thus make her next to useless in the teamfight itself.

So she should be untouchable by skirmishers and bruisers?

She's not untouchable.

Play anyone that can get on her quickly or CC her and she's toast. Just make sure to do so once she's burned her ult, which at rank 1 is on a 140 second cooldown. If she has no ult she is incredibly easy to single out and CC.

There's this magical thing called don't stand in front of the fucking feathers, who knew?

You forgot to include "No proof. No back up." with your first two sentence blurbs.

She is one of the most balanced ADCs in the entire game, as well as one of the easiest to crush. Stop QQ.

  1. Short AA range.
  2. Passive relies on using abilities to trigger it.
  3. Abilities have extremely high mana costs early.
  4. All-in relies entirely on E. No root = no possible all-in.
  5. E cooldown is extremely long early.
  6. E is avoidable by simply not standing in front of 3+ feathers.
  7. Feathers literally staying on the field shows you the dangerous zones.
  8. Ultimate is on an extremely long cooldown.
  9. Ultimate is her only strong all-in.
  10. Ultimate is her only safety/mobility/escape tool.
  11. She is extremely immobile.
  12. Poor waveclear early.

I think people are complaining because she scales extremely well into late-game, like, jinx levels of late-game. Since it is a newer champion, they don't understand that, and when they die to the full build Xayah when they didn't build any armor, they start crying.

Janna mìd3 votes

Abilities have extremely high mana costs early.

Uh do you actually play other champions that have mana costs ? Cuz her mana costs are actually low.

E cooldown is extremely long early

Same, 12s is far from long, let's take for example taliyah, she got 2 spells with a 16s cd (and 70 and 90 mana level 1), so 12s and no spell above 60 mana is actually low

Ultimate is on an extremely long cooldown.

140 to 110 is not extremely long it's almost average

Ultimate is her only safety/mobility/escape tool.

Her W offers mobility aswell

Poor waveclear early.

Even early her waveclear is really good for an adc

12.Poor wave clear early

I'd like to debate this, while not great proper feather aim can significantly help with that. Although i guess i will have to submit it is still on the lower end

Danjeng5 votes

The word extremely is thrown out a lot. She does not have extremely high mana costs. Her ultimate's cooldown is on the longer side, but appropriate for what it does.

Listing out a champion's weaknesses to show how weak they are, isn't any better than listing out strengths to show broken-ness.

Joxcab2 votes

Her mana costs are undeniably extremely high. Her cooldown on ultimate is one of the longest in the game outside of like Karthus ultimate. It's her only safety or escape or mobility tool. It's easy as hell to punish her without it.

The weaknesses show all the ways to beat her lmao. They literally include all the way to play around or avoid her strengths altogether.

Sozan56 votes

Her mana costs are undeniably extremely high.

50, 60 and 40 isn't extremely high. It's average, at worst. But it's always important to look at the whole picture - Xayah base mana is on the high end and her mana regen is 16th best in the game. In other words - as long as you don't mindlessly spam abilities for no reason - you will not run out of mana.

Anyways, I mostly wanted to cover this part:

Poor waveclear early.

Because this is simply false. With her Q and passive she has a decent waveclear since level 1, and it gets significantly better the moment she got E - I believe she might have one the best, if not THE best, waveclear from all ADCs early.

Also, her cooldowns outside of her ultimate are on the short side, so no idea where did you get that "Extremely long CD on E" from. 12 seconds for an ability that can snare isn't long - it's normal, if not short (mind you, this is rank 1).

As it is right now - Xayah kit certainly has weaknesses, and it's a working one (unlike some other designs coughKalistacough), but I fear it is overtuned as far as numbers go. You'll see in a week or so, with more Xayah players getting hang of her (and her winrate is increasing fast, especially in higher ranks), that she needs some nerfs. What kind of nerfs - I'm not sure (I have some idea, but there's no need for me to post them, Rito will figure something out). I just hope they will just straight up nerf her damage output rather than unique strengths.

Her wave-clear isn't bad though? It's about on par with a lot of other marksman due to the pierce/feather mechanic. If anything her wave-clear is great.

AmazoX13 votes

Given how immobile and fragile she is, If you turn the pressure up on her, She'll pop off like a bug.

P.S: I never played her, Only against her, I find her perfectly balanced.

Blåbæret5 votes

Fragile? She has untargetability rofl. She's more difficult to kill than pretty much everyy other ADC out there.

AmazoX6 votes

That's just your opinion, IMO Vayne, Sivir, Ezreal & Caitlyn are harder to kill than Xayah.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku3 votes

I agree... except Sivir.

Legacy Hydralpha13 votes

Her ultimate is the only thing that gives her untargetability, and that doesn't make her any less fragile. Just wait out the ultimate and burst her when she gets out of it.

TwitchInMyPants6 votes

Try Ezreal or Varus vs her, its really fucking easy when you outrange the feathers. She's also immobile without W and incredibly ult dependant to not get rekt in fights.

Yeah you can also just slap her shit before the feathers. I don't think you should always play Xayah with Rakan, he gives some bonuses but he's mainly a shielder with one cc. Not very good at stopping a diver in the early game pre6. She has to press q and auto to get a 1 player root off and if she uses it its on cd for 12-8s with no ER.

She has good trading but theres punish windows all over, if you walk to the side of her feathers after a q or something you split them up and force her to move closer to pull them all into a root or chase to attempt to plant feathers as her earlier ones become irrelevant. Really they're strongest in defensive zones.

Joxcab2 votes

Yep exactly. Hard CC supports are far better. She needs someone tanky to frontline for her in her weaker laning. Hard aggressive engage supports are also good.

Thresh, Blitzcrank, Leona, Alistar, etc.

Cosmic Warper5 votes

Sir Fuzzi4 votes

You mean she punishes low mobility?

Better pick low mobility into her.

Arcus Diabolus2 votes

Even if she's strong, the damage on her E could be easily adjusted to do less damage for each feather after the first like Azir's soldiers.

Joxcab2 votes

This is already a thing though. It has been since release.

Each successive feather after the first deals 10% less damage, down to a minimum of 10% damage of the original first feather.

AtheosisX2 votes

Her stats don't presently seem to support the notion her damage is too high.

Pater Gascoigne1 votes

Imo she has an insane power spike with just a BF sword. One E easily takes of half HP and please don't tell me to "avoid feathers". She presses Q and auto attacks you with an immediate E. The only support who can avoid those feathers is Rakan since he has 2 dashes. Other than that I think she is fairly balanced.

DarkRitual7 votes

You can still avoid feathers. And to be honest, you mostly just need to avoid places where you'll get hit by three or more.

Plenty of other supports can keep away from them too. Anyone with ranged attacks, for starters.

DuskDaUmbreon5 votes

Hell. I can even dodge them as Leona. You don't need to even be ranged to avoid autos she doesn't use on you specifically.
