How to Deal With Riven?

Hello, So last night I got brutally dumpstered by a Riven. I was playing Jax into it. As a result of that game I had a few questions I was hoping to get some help with.

1.) If I see an opponent lock in Riven, what are some good picks to play into it and some good starter items/item rushes?

2.) If three people on my team try for an invade when it makes no sense to do so, do I try and run down to the other side of the map and follow? (My team gave up two kills before minions spawned.)

3.) As Jax how would you deal with Riven? She beat me in trades early and then just denied me. After trying to last hit a few minions at the wrong times I got low from her harassing me by Q-ing in, AA, Stun, AA, Dash away. I'm not really sure what to do when she seems like she can just punish me so hard and I cannot trade back any damage before shes out.

She proceeded to tag me until I was low, then she dove me and killed me. I continue to try and be safe but probably took too much free damage while she pushed in and I got dove again by her. At this point she's got like 3 kills (She got one of the kills from my teams failed invade) and I can't really even stand under tower or she can damn near one shot me and if their jungle is there i'm for sure dead.

How do you come back from this situation? What should I have been building? How could I have done better to prevent this?

For Reference here is my OP.GG -- this game is the most recent one played as Jax where I was 0/4/1. http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=FDS%20Desperado

Riven has long cds so go in when she blows any of them. Especially her q.

^ And get early armor, lots of it if you have to. Early armor is incredibly strong. Once you scale with 1 or 2 items you completely destroy riven as jax.

Jax actually dumpsters riven. The trick is to save E for after her 3rd Q or stun. Then she is defenseless. On her 3rd Q... the slam. Trade with her with a quick Q aa W aa. Do this 2-3 times and u win lane with corupt pot

A nice trick i like to use that a lot of people don't really know about. Move away from her when she starts to Q towards you, she'll blow the rest of her Q to catch up to you, and not have the auto-attacks between them to dish out her maximum damage, then once she's near you with her Q down you can trade much better. But this only works if you're even with her and she wont burst you with a Q-W-R anyway.

Riven destroys Jax until around level 7, when Jax has his Ultimate and can pick up Jaurim's Fist and Ninja Tabis.

Before that point, focus only on farming. Buy as many health pots as you need and just work on getting items. Don't let her kill you, and you should be fine.

If you get a chance to punish her for missing a Stun or Knockback, jump on her with Leap Strike and give her an Auto + W.

After level 7, she'll still believe she's stronger than you. If she wastes her Shield or 2 Qs trying to close the gap, you automatically win the extended trade. Turn on your E, get an Auto + W on her, then use Leap Strike when she gets out of range. The damage will scare her off.

If you get a kill due to her messing up or your Jungler ganks her, then you'll rule this lane after level 6. Wack your minions twice, then jump onto her and use your empowered Auto + W. Turn on your E if she starts to fight you, because she'll lose.

Take either Doran's Shield or Cloth + 4 first. Rush Titanic Hydra after getting Tabis. Hug your turret if you fall behind.

Finally, Malphite is a really good counter-pick to Riven, especially with his new buff. Maokai is good as well. Renekton will work if you want a carry champ, but a skilled Riven can really embarrass you if you screw up. Same with Jayce.

Don't go into her tower range or minion wave to attack her early, She will punish you HARD, if she plays it correctly she will half your health with a rotation of basic abilities. Build armor, item 3076 item 1031 item 3047 Are all good, even bramble after being nerfed is great against Riven. She yells for a brief second before she throws out windslash (2nd R), You have enough time to dodge it. In Jax vs Riven, she can't really fight you if you play passive. You have tools to stop her and re-engage on her. If both of you play safe too you will outscale her.

Also final tip, if you struggle against her alot take exhaust. It's really good against tower dives and all ins against her.

really fun thing to do, play poppy, and only use your w to block her third dash. Then just beat the crap out of her.

Try it, but I can't garuntee it will work. Best you can do sometimes is just say GG because riven is hard as balls to play .

Vayne

Tumble out of combos, massive point-and-click knockback, stealth

Janna and lulu fuck riven up so hard later in the game, dont see why you cant just spend the whole game shadowing her and denying kills when she tries to fight you or your teammates

Karma top too could work, basically champions who can harass well and counter aggressive all in champions like riven

Thats a bit cheesey tho and it leaves ur team without a frontline late game, garen, darius, and renekton are super hard for riven but she can still win if shes bettee then you

If you fail ur E, prepare for Riven to engage on ur face. This is your perfect E matchup. U miss E, u lose.

Here are some of my personal pick into Riven, these are the picks I've had the most success with when Playing into Riven.

Urgot: Has a great tools to counter her engage, His W Shield can prevent a decent chunk of her damage when you feel like she is going to go in, plus a potential E and Q would force her (in most cases) To back off, Aside from this, you can use his passive and Q to poke her, Just watch out for ninja tab which can reduce the damage of your W shots.

Warwick: Levels 1 and 2 are your only worries, If she goes in at level 1, use our Q to try to stay alive and use your autos to get off a bit of damage, when you get your E at level 3, you should not be worried about her, the damage reduction will help you win most trades, plus the fear makes it so you can jump in on her with your q, then start your onslaught of basic attacks, If you ever get low during a trade, Don't be afraid to pop your ultimate to by yourself some time.

Malphite: Early on, your damage shouldn't be matching her's, but once you invest in some armour (Iceborn, Sunfire, Ninja tab), You will not only be taking little damage from her, but you should also be doing decent damage to her, just try to play passive in the early game, and wait it out until you get your armour.

For Items, Ninja tab can be somewhat beneficial since it takes away from some of her damage, also with bramble vest still being relatively strong, it can make your life somewhat easier into her.
