As someone who abuses the shit out of Darius' current overpoweredness, I love this PBE nerf.

Decimate (Q) handle hit damage lowered to 35% from 50%

First of all, instead of just being the flat out numbers nerf that it seems like at first, it's a skill-based nerf, which means that it rewards Darius players for good plays while also punishing enemy players for fucking up, which is what Darius as a Juggernaut is all about. So instead of just being a change that every Darius player feels bad about like almost every other nerf that champions usually get, it actually makes you feel better about playing your champion like you're supposed to and hitting your enemies with your Q blade.

Another thing that this change does is defining Darius' strengths and weaknesses more instead of just making him worse at all areas like some other nerfs. His counterpicks, so champions that have jumps and dashes to get away from your blade or on top of you to avoid the handle, like Fiora, Yasuo and Irelia will do better against him and honestly they should, because as a Juggernaut, mobile and bursty champions like them are supposed to counter Darius and abuse his weaknesses. On the other hand, immobile champions that don't have the tools to counter his Q as effectively and that Darius should thrive against, like Nautilus, Nasus and Cho'Gath will be punished if they just take one step too close and define what makes Darius strong and in which situations he should and shouldn't be picked. This means that you can't just blind pick him without caring as much anymore and you will have to tactically use him as a counterpick and also be worried about the counterpicks he himself has.

Overall a great change.

Nah, the problem was probably that his Q blade damage is too strong. He already loses hard to anyone who can reliably dodge his Q blade (e.g. Fiora, Riven, especially Fiora but also Fiora for other reasons), so nerfing that did next to nothing. It's good in theory, but didn't do anything.
