One of the problems with Aatrox and being a drain tank is that giving that kit a revive is absurd really.
Also, I mean if you want to say losing all that he was means he lost his fantasy of just flashing in and ulting to kill people. I guess. Yes. That one completely random very ineffective and not easy to pull off thing was lost. However, he still does have the aoe taunt. He can still do absurd damage if built AP. I'm not sure 'just another burst mage' is accurate either. Not many burst mages have a global (think TF global) ult that makes the target really tanky, and a giant AoE knock up.
You just seem so biased because your toy was changed which is fair. However, you can't just be blind to what did sort of remain. Remember, champions are reworked for a reason.

He doesnt syne 5thize with spirit visage or thornmakl anymore. He HAS to go I'm now while the other galio pressured with presence or at back, the new kne is all about going in.
The old one was the play maker while the new one is hoping your team goes in so you can actually use your ult but people expect you to be engaged and peel.
I had over 2000 hours on pre rework Galio and I know him inside and out... people just didn't give him a chance and its unfortunate. All I know is he is nothing like the old one and some people who never played galio may think he is like him but I assure you he isnt.

You keep acting like old Galio was worth keeping in the game. He was basically another Annie, and Annie is cancerous enough to play against already.
His item synergies were MR and AP, both of which he still synergizes with (In fact you have to build at least 2 AP items if you actually want to do damage). He lost team wide mediocre speed boost and gained a more consistent taunt, and two knock-ups (One that can hit multiple people). His healing was gimmicky, and was bad feedback for interacting with Galio (I throw damage at this champion, but he heals?) It was poor design overall.

His old kit incentivized him to build MR (tank items). He would get bulky off of that build, and with Athenes and Abyssal Scepter he would hurt. Galio of old and Galio of today have one job: Poke with Q until you can find a good chance to hard engage. The only difference is, new Galio has an ult that can also act as a protection tactic for allies. OLD Galio was one-dimensional, new Galio is at least 2-dimensional.

That's a non-argument. The build preferences people had for Galio does not change the fact that his kit was overall badly designed, relying on a gimmicky flash taunt to be of any use whatsoever. At least with the new Galio you can have your flash taunt, AND still be useful in other ways.

It's not new Galio's fault that Riot listened to the old Galio mains complaining that they made him a pure tank, only to turn him into an abomination that did way too much damage and was nerfed into uselessness.

Galiö1 votesWell he is just about as different as old galio to new... but atleast aatrox he looks similar. His VO is just as bad though... atleast the AA memo line is funny... If you squint real hard his new q is like his old q on the last part. He still has life steal and now has spell vamp. Ohhhhh Besides blood well ish thing that's it.
Galio has a skillshot that doesnt act like either of his old skillshots (which is for the better) and a really shitty version of his old ult on his w.
I mean with the new aatrox what u can do if u want is max you E first and be an AA champ and just forgo your passive resets with casting spells and you'll semi feel the same.... but the you're forced to play off meta yo make him feel the same.
I cant go spirit visage/thorn galio cause he doesnt scale well off of MR, he doesnt get free armor for the thornmail and he doesnt heal. Lol
LoadedXan1 votesNew Q isn't an engage, in fact, none of his new kit is. Healing is also constant vs based on missing hp, I mean really they coulda changed that back to the missing hp based. Blood Well buff which enabled a fight in your favor if you stacked and maintained it isn't a thing anymore, plus people just kite new aatrox ult, it's like if Zilean ults the Yorick, had to pick a champ without solid engage/mobility, and everyone avoids him for the duration of it. Oh ult during a fight then? Ya then your blood well doesn't fill up fast enough and you get nuked down and revive with even less hp.
Honestly if they just took off the E heal and gave him back old W, made his E something else useful like an engage. I'd be fine with the changes Hell make his new Q weaker, take off some CC, make the CD longer. Just make him more flexible so old players can play and new players. After all a rework is supposed to make the old players happy while getting new players to try him right? Just merge the new and old.

I understand your frustration I just feel like if aatrox is an 80% removal of what he was galio is an 87% removal of what he was lol. Either way we are both fucked an have to deal with it.
I've just been complaining consistently for over a year now.
Also fair warning incase you are a hardcore one trick like me, be careful of your words because you are going to be far more frustrated in games cause you dont have your champ anymore and more prone to being upset.

LoadedXan1 votesWell Galio still fills his role in a team, he does some damage and protects/CCs. New Aatrox is just "wtf". He's a "Frontliner" who is also a "Diver" yet has no engage, depends on sustaining for durability, and can actually be kited even more now. Also he's no longer a close range beast. His purpose is entirely different now. They tossed aside an entire basis of his kit, Auto attacks. It's the equivalent to if they made Galio AA based. Think about it.
