ok so this seems like the quintissential pristine game. I crafted two hypercarries out of the garen and varus, got the varus several triples and a penta, 45 goddam assists on the aram poro toss map and very few deaths, saved my teammates asses from the sona/veigar many many times (notice he only has 10 kills and he had to ult the poor bastard for each one of those if I had anything to say about it). average gold for the team varus withholding and in every teamfight. I was instrumental in taking down the first tower by keeping their entire team back and tanking a jhin ult while my team melted it down. tell me how this is not at least an s or s- or hell an s+ would even be appropriate. the varus got an s+ what's wrong with rewarding the one who got him that?

No farm. It is compared to the average Lulu on that map, since there aren't positions. AP lulus tend to get a lot more farm than that so your lack of farm lowered your grade a lot. Especially since lulu is one of the easier champs to farm on in HA.

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

true but farming is one of the last things on my mind and I thought riot fixed the stats so cs isn't important to the one class that should not be csing and especially on this map, cs made pretty worthless with the passive gold/xp gain.

Fondling Gems1 votes

It isn't... for supports, in the support role. You are playing a champion in ARAM, there aren't roles so it compares you to all lulus, not just support lulus like when you play support on 5v5 map.

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

still if that's the case it's highly unfair to everyone else who can't power farm a single lane's worth of creeps stuffed with the whole team like a yasuo stacking shivs. I'd say so anyway.

ON THIS MAP, there are no 'roles' (which is what I think you meant by 'class') because you are all mid.

There is really no such thing as a support. You can play and build like a support, but that doesn't change the way that the system will grade you.

If you were on SR, you would be right. This score on a Lulu in the bottom lane would be graded well because it would be graded as a support.

But if you were in the mid lane on SR, this would be an absolutely terrible score.

Howling Abyss does not differentiate in roles so, while this is a good score in general (A+ is still a good score) you are also being compared to Lulus who build AP and go 20/2/8 with 160 cs

I'm beginning to dislike attributing a letter grade to something as complex as a league game. I'm not even being conceited when I say I feel I was the linchpin that kept the team together. it's just disappointing that what I saw as one of my better games given a "meh, better luck next time"

What makes you think that would be worthy of an S? Assists on Poro King? Cmon now.

howsabout being one of the key players in many teamfights that allowed us to win the game and the things I described above.

Because it is an A-, moving on.

how insightful.

A- aside, why did you build 50% CDR?

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

because the items are so good overmaxing cdr is pithy compared to the heals athene/censer and the slows fcc gives. I don't worry about it these days as cdr is just slapped onto random items and it's almost impossible to not overdo it if you want some things.

You also have 6 deaths. That's a lot if you want an S.

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

the varus has 6 death's too though.

ModKnightsKemplar1 votes

The Varus has 34 kills.

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

I have 45 assists.

My point is, in ARAM, the system doesn't value good support play nearly as much. I think the idea there is that everyone has limited gold, and everyone is going to be getting some assists as they all kill each other over and over. There just isn't a decent way for the algorithm to tell a good support apart from a player getting carried real hard in ARAM.

That's not to say that you didn't play a good support. Seems like you did, by all accounts. But ARAM scoring doesn't reward that, and I would argue it would be very difficult to train it to do so.

That fact is, the system was designed for SR. The focus of the design team for LoL is SR. The game is balanced for SR. SR makes them the most money, so they focus most of their energy there. It makes good business sense. There is a consistent drip of people that complain about the other maps not meeting their expectations, but Riot has good reason not to work on them, tbh. That's just how it is.

I don't mean to demean your play. I would have loved to play on your team for that game, I'm quite sure. But there's a very logical reason why you didn't get an S. It's relatively easy to explain, and not at all surprising to me.

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

that's a crying shame though, the other maps can be so much more interesting than 5 man square land all aboard the walking to lane train!

well I wasn't going for farm I was more interested in keeping teammates alive through the hellish siege we were getting.

not enough kills too many deaths not enough cs overbearing expectations and no skin

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

I have a skin. you can see it in the top right thumbnail. it's the winter lulu skin to boot try getting that one ye non lulu main pleb.

"no farm"

Don't misunderstand me, I'm definitely not saying that you should never play as a support on Howling Abyss.

I do it all the time because the role is still incredibly useful to your team.

The problem is, you really can't expect to get the glory.

That is just the flaw with the system. :/

I don't care about pentakills and leet cs stats but I'd like to at least know I've done well. I mean doing an absolute stellar game and coming off that high to an "eh whatevs ye did good" really makes me wonder absolutely what I could have done better if riot thinks I'm only good to average.

come to think of it I'd call that a flaw in the league system if skill of play =/= grade given.

It is absolutely a flaw, but there isn't really any easy way to distinguish your gameplay from that of someone who is attempting to be the AP carry and just failing to secure kills.

Your build certainly suggests that, but the system isn't designed to identify a presumed role based on itemization.

I'm sorry, I truly am, but you really did do a good job.

I wouldn't call this an average skilled game and I don't think that is what Riot is intending to tell you.
