Just wanted to show what a Non-Meta Nami can do.

Okay. I'm generally completely non meta on Nami and several other champs, yet can pull about 66-70% wins on Nami at Plat I.

This isn't an account that's playing Plat I atm, but a new account that was placed Silver, in game three of my promos.

The Zed is ex Gold as is the Lucian, who have been as high as Gold I.

I warned my team of that at level 1, and they kind of shrugged it off. We still managed to start with a 13/3 lead.

However, Twitch didn't respect Zed, and Warwick got caught a couple times after his ganks feeding Zed shutdown gold, and Cho somehow had 9 stacks by 15 minutes. My team basically had the problem of:

-Twitch thought everyone should play around him while he split pushed/auto farmed lanes, and thus never grouped because the grouping happened around Yasuo and Warwick.

-Swain also played a lot of solo, pushing and trying to be a raid boss, to mediocre success, but usually not accomplishing much.

-Warwick, Yasuo, and I, basically held mid and objectives, waiting for the other two to group, and were hesitant to go in at all.

That resulted in 13/3 turning into 14/18, Zed getting fed, Cho getting bigger, Lucian getting a lot of post lane picks, etc.

Anywho..... Eventually WW and Yas clued in that i could keep them alive forever, so they started all in-ing Zed in between Zed killing Twitch solo over and over. Started popping him like a grape every time he ulted, even when he ulted me, and although it took about 40 minutes, we just got to a point where every time Zed died we took a lane Inhibitor, because we could just 3v5 it. After 3 Inhib takes, we just face tanked the Nexus turrets without minions (they weren't there yet) and rotated who tanked while killing whoever came to try to defend them.

Was one of those "we shouldn't win this" games. If I was a Meta nami player, we probably would have lost it.

And no..... this isn't a Death Cap build.

This was simply item 3096 item 3040 item 3504 item 3174 item 3165 item 3111 which got to about 646 AP. If the game went longer, I was going to trade the Medallion for a Zhonya's.

Old items = best items. New Active items are not nearly as powerful on most enchanters, and the heals overall are better too (2 hit heals on Ebb with AP always heals more on AP than on Healing/Shield items)

Try thinking outside the meta. I'm currently a flat 80% win with this build (granted, outside my actual elo, but at Plat I'm still a solid 68% player)

Nami's my overall favourite since like forever. I think she's the most balanced champion in the game (no you don't need to downvote me for that because it's just my pov) like forever and I only saw her being played on a regular basis in professional play when she was taken as counter to pre-nerfed Karma.

I always have the feeling that most of my games that are turned into the hyper late game into a victory happens with Nami. I don't ever played a champion that I was so capable of continuously turning a game around after 40 minutes if I didn't win after 20 mins.

Although my builds might seem much more meta than yours: item 3098 oritem 3096 depending on how comfortable I feel about poking the enemy bot duo. Then my core is item 3107 into item 3504 especialy to be capable to influence fights that could break out in a distance to me. item 3111 or item 3047 depending on what will deal more damage at the 15 min mark. I used to build item 3158 more, but I'm a very cautious player and prefer to not die instantly when engaged on. The rest of my build depends heavily on the situation like item 3190 if the enemy has some sort of AOE burst and we're without a tank who'd build that, item 3222 if I really need to constantly get an ally out of heavy single targeted CC - otherwise I started going for item 3174.

If the enemy has a real fed champion than I also tend to go for a full defensive item against that sort of damage. So considering that I rarely come to a full build, it varies quite heavily.

What runes do you usually opt into?

Building AP isn't just about damage. It's about the heals too. Nami potentially heals twice per Ebb, and when she actually scales AP with item 3504 and item 3174 She heals FAR more than if she went item 3107 item 3222 item 3504 item 3190 because the item 3174 works on both ticks of her Ebb FULLY depending on the damage done on the middle bounce, and because the bounces increase heals/damage rather than decreasing them (This build gets your bounces at a 26% increase per bounce or so, instead of barely breaking even on Active items).

What I find is, although your acitve item build is cheaper, games often go longer than you expect them to, and you gain more gold than you think you do. The active items are meant for short, sweet games on an economy balance. If you build into them and the game goes too long, you generally can't afford a reposition, and you fall off hard while the carries more expensive builds with much more impact.

Furthermore, Active items detract from your ability to move/place/focus on positioning as much as you can if you just have to worry about your skills. You basically sacrifice yourself for some carry, while the team actually revolves around you,** not that 1 carry, because you can keep the other 3 alive.**

item 3190 is actually a weak item on Nami, because she generally always has low health. I actually get MORE use out of it on an AP build because then I sometimes build item 3065 item 3027 . It's far better on tanks.

As for runes: I also buck the trend there. I don't go Resolve. I go Domination Secondary:

Sorcery: -Aery -Second tier depends on the team (If there's a slippery assassin like Zed, I go Ultimate Hat for more ults. If there's a mega burst mage, I go nullifying Orb. Meta is Manaband. -Transcendence (Gets you to 40% earlier if you struggle getting there, and generally can get you up to 80-100 extra AP based on pretty common Nami items, more if you get Blue) -Gathering Storm (Waterwalking/Scorch just don't compete at most points of the game, because Waterwalking is purely River conditional, and Scorch has long cooldowns and doesn't affect heals)

Domination:

I generally always get either Ravenous Hunter (most common) or Relentless Hunter (Good when you need to overcap speed and out run a team, especially when they have Janna )

Other than that, Either Taste of Blood or Eyeball collection (supplemental self HP capping so you spend less time healing yourself, or 30 AP that can boost your heals/damage curve more)

I'm not saying Resolve isn't Viable, but it's focused on increasing heals to others, which risks YOU dying more, while Domination more or less keeps you healthy by itself, so you can focus on healing others more.

P.S. The reason I go item 3040 is because it ensures that I NEVER have to recall except to purchase. It's more powerful for mana sustain than any rune or mana regen. I don't build it until item 4, but item 3070 is generally Item 2. (Enables the ability to spam your abilities to move you and your team around, rather than conserving mana for only lane phase/combat. Teams that move faster win faster and get more gold)

Unless I see the proof on your "Plat 1" account im not gonna buy it tbh

I don't like to let people know who I am. This is, after all, a banned account I'm typing on. It's just a convenient typing tool.

Btw, nice Kayle 1 tricking!

Yeah I don't buy it, but good job on this account however

Here, My builds different Then the OP but its a "off meta" high AP build. http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=kai+guy Don't have many nami games this year as I'm trying to make it to plat off my worst role with a new champion. (URGOD!) but check seasons 3-7 if you want. Builds varied but item 3041 has always been a core part of my nami game.

I also run Bard with item 3153 and item 3512

Kai Guy1 votes

My core is usually item 3041 item 3504 item 3089 And item 3109 or item 3512 or item 3222

The AP heals % going up is nice but I think the real key is that high AP nami's passive provides a surprisingly high but subtly amount of MS that players don't get. Especially as that MS boost is doubled by her R and the slow on E scales off ap.

Azadethe1 votes

It's a large key but don't underestimate item 3174 . On Nami, it's potentially a 80 AP item that adds heal % scaling heals to every heal you cast, or procs on your Aery. I'm pretty sure your build gives you mana problems, and Harmony is a weak passive vs Dissonance. Death Cap also creates a huge gap in play in which you aren't improving while cheaper champs are.

Indeed. With Aery, E procs the heal from Athene's, it's own slow, attackspeed buff from Ardent because of the shield from Aery. If and when I do play her (which isn't much recently) I try and build it first item. Good job on the build, I like it.

I see how these items can work on Nami, but as a Plat level skilled player, matching silver MMR players, does that not skew the results a bit?

Azadethe1 votes

Notice how I mentioned 2 different win rates?

Yeah. skill level does play a role. But Nami's not a hard carry champ. If her team is horrible through and through, she does lose. She can't avoid that.

She's a champ that only gains about ~ 8-10% benefit in win rate from being a better player, as where your typical carries generally gain a benefit of ~16-20%
