I think Akali and Irelia were nerfed too hard.

I never had an issue with fighting either of these in lane or under turrets, and now they have all been nerfed out of what they were designed to do. Irelia remake video has her tanking Katarina's ult but now she reduces 0% magic damage, Akalis remake video has her hiding from the turret now she can't even do that.

Both champions might actually be kind of bad now.

They are bad now by intention. They have been yorick'd, aatrox'd, azir'd. Both kits offered too much for their role, they were toxic, anti fun and annoying to face even when weak.

Nobody likes to play whack a mole under your own turret for 8 seconds while getting bursted, slowed and executed.

They will need rebalancing

They are trash.

Both champions were flawed in design. Akali’s shroud under turret should never have existed due to lack of real counterplay. And Irelia was made to be everything. A bursty tank slaying tank with sustained damage, real sustain, mobility, hard cc, slows, moar cc, assassination potential, conquerer abuse, burst prevention, cc prevention. Like seriously. This champion had zero weaknesses.

Irelia had many inherent weaknesses. Her E stun was highly projected, and she's only good as long as she can stay engaged and unchecked. Which is why I can beat her so easily with a Janna.

Akali shroud doesn't last forever, and her movements are predictable especially as the ring gets wider and wider. Add ignite, and I never, EvEr had an issue with Akali. They even took away Akalis healing factor, which honestly was the only thing that needed to be nerfed.

Yes. Now where was Irelia played? Mid and top, also disengaging didn’t work because she has resets on her dashes.

Also idk why you mentioned ignite on akali, because true sight didn’t reveal her. Also she is an assassin. Her shroud didn’t need to last forever, and the 10+ seconds it was lasting while juggling in and out of it is more that overbearing.

And my counterplay To a champion should not be “hope they walk the way I want them to walk”. That isn’t counterplay that’s just another 50/50.

Except that's 90% how a Teemo is played, getting the enemy to path in a way beneficial to you, i.e. across shrooms. The ignite on akali wasn't about the reveal it was about mitigating her healing. Even then her invisibility was never an issue for me and was generally only an issue for players who couldn't be bothered to learn Akali just for the purpose of facing her. The Game Requires Us To Learn Champions So We Can Face Against Them.

More so, people who lost to Irelia didn't know how to play/how Irelia was played, and rather than adjusted their personal strategy instead complained that they had to change what they always did and who they always picked to be able to effectively face her, instead of embracing the idea that simply altering who they play or how they play or how they build or how they rune or how they strategize as all they really needed.

If I can beat pre-nerf Irelia with a Janna, then you can beat her.

Let me use your logic here.

People only said 88% winrate kassadin was overpowered because they never bothered to learn the champion.

He only had an 88% win rate because they weren't banning him properly and learning how to face the less op characters they were banning. :P

Taking damage while stealthed makes them leave a breif shdaw when they take damage, so you can tell where they are going. Kinda of like oracle lense used on an invisible champion

I don't think they were nerfed too hard, I think they were nerfed in the wrong way.

The nerfed Akali in the right way, taking out her turret safety, but they then also took away her heal completely which makes her useless in an extended fight.

No, I mean that her W was what should've been turret fixed from the get go if they wanted to talk about nerfs, that alone makes her way less toxic to play against. Maybe some damage nerfs afterward if she was really still a threat but meh

Oh no champs that have been abused to climb for so long finally got nerfed. How sad.

Kazekiba1 votes

The intention was to give them the Zoe treatment. Riot recognizes they can't hit a champion in ways that will sway community opinions on them meaningfully, so instead they're just utterly demolishing their kits and then slowly adding power back over time. Instead of, you know, buffing the 46% win rate champion in other ways while youre taking everything out of her kit except her mobility. (Note: I never saw Akali as a mobile champion, and feel the 4 dashes are completely unnecessary but it is what it is.)

They nerfed irelia w against ap because she was super oppressive mid against any mage. They are trying to get her back in the top lane where she was intended to be.

As for akali her shroud may have been the dumbest addition to the game when it came out. Whats the point of true sight if it doesnt work? She was super annoying to deal with. If she got the slightest lead she would tower dive, throw down a shroud, and kill you over and over again. She dives tower to get kill and messes up the shroud saves her. The dumb w mechanic saved bad akali player from being punished for doing stupid things. As for her q nerf that might be a bit excessive removing the healing but who knows.

Good. She's busted for too long, time for her to sit at trash tier for a while.

Does her mains deserve Irelia to be over-nerfed? No.

Does people who play against her deserve to fight a champion in a busted state for almost 15+ patches? Neither do they.

So there we are. Not an optimal solution, but she's too strong for too long. Time to let her suck for a while.

Downvote me. This is the real world, there is no perfect balance.

Irelia just needs a small buff to be good.

Like giving her W an extra passive stack again since now she cant get to 5 stacks in a 1v1 without ulting.

haaaaaaalp1 votes

I think that was the point. They are going to shelf the champions until a rework because their current designs don't work. I still wish they would try lowering irelia to 125 attack range and try to balance her as an actual melee hero instead of at the 200 attack range which no champion shares. Akali needs significant changes across the board which is why the last patch removed so much.

Prestige AkaIi2 votes

Where are you hearing this? I highly doubt they are planning on re-reworking two champions they just reworked in the last year.

All Akali ever needed was the removal of her turret stealth and some changes to her numbers. Once her banrate goes down she'll get some compensation buffs and she'll be much less frustrating.
