Ghostcrawler and Meddler misunderstand what makes pro-play enjoyable.

Pro-play used to put you on edge because the game was centered around playing smart and strategic. Each team had the potential to play it smarter than their opponents and make a comeback.

Now I turn off games sub ~10 minutes because the outcome is basically decided by then, there really is no point in watching beyond that. Games are no longer strategic battles, it's whoever shoots first. It's basically turned into CS:GO.

Ghostcrawler, Meddler, you're misinterpreting the game, it's a strategy MOBA, not a twitch shooter.

I really really miss old skt. When tactics actually mattered in the game. When they were praised for losing the minimum and playing to their win conditions.

Unfortunately that league is gone.

LCS = Long-term Macroplay

LC$ = $hort-term Microplay

I mean, if you want actual physical proof of the moronic nature of making the game "flashier":

Season 5: Highest amount of views on record for LCS, leading to an article by several sports networks about the potential rise of e-sports as a major event.

Also Season 5: exact opposite meta to current League.

It doesn't take a genius to tell that either these guys are morons or they're legitimately only serving the cyber-cafe casual market. There's really no hiding their intent; pro-play is almost certainly a side-note at this point.

Seriously Ghostcrawler and Meddler, go watch old videos of league and see what you've done.

Was it 2016 when Rox Tigers played SKT in the semi finals at worlds? The entire series was so hype and fun to watch. I think it was the same year Smeb was a part of Rox Tigers and made one of the most iconic kennen ults in League History against G2. I think the game was in a healthier state then. Worlds the following year was plagued with Arden Censor + Kogmaw (still salty that WE beat C9) and now we have faker picking taric and Jankos going braum. Wtf has this game become.

As a side note, I hate gold funneling. It looks pathetic when you fail and unimpressive if you succeed. Four item Kaisa mowing down people that are 10 minutes behind her in terms of cs and gold is so brain dead.

I do not think you guys are looking at it in their point of view. Players are always getting smarter and better each year and i am not sure it is entirely because of the balance team but in part because players are finding smarter/easier ways to handle things. They have to be extremely careful in balancing because meta shifts happen quick and easy. i mean it wasn't not too long ago we hard a meta where people just took Heal and Barrier and afk'd farmed.

Tobykachu7/10/2018, 5:55:33 PM1 votes

Tbh I think they know exactly how to make pro play exciting. Remember last year when games where just afk farming and waiting until one team made a mistake and basically winning from there? People complained about that too. So they made games much faster paced and more decisive early. They nerfed the champions that were able to just sit in lane and wave clear, whilst also buffing assassins.

The main problem is, what makes pro play 'exciting' is also what makes solo queue a miserable experience. Pro players picking Riven, Zed, Yasuo and other "exciting" champions every game means that they will also become even more played in solo queue than they already are and in turn making these typically frustrating champions to play against even more of a problem than they already are.

I can't help but think that Overwatch was the worst thing to happen to league only because riot wants the quick gameplay of overwatch, but they don't want to do things like get rid of items and levels.

100% Combacks only happen if your team has a Hypercarry that gets the gold for the power spike and the team supports them just a little (assuming the enemy team does not also have a Hypercarry, if so then you are SOL you lost)

The game is in such a bad state. Riot really needs to move fast and with some brains to safe the game.

Douglas Funnie7/10/2018, 8:22:17 PM1 votes

You can thank Riot for implementing the casual friendly "Runes Reforged" system. Runes Reforged was designed for low skilled players to have opportunities to out damage higher skilled players with overloaded runes, overpowered runes, and overpowered champions with RNG elements tossed in.

Have you ever noticed horrible players from earlier seasons are all of the sudden really good at the game? Yeah, that's Riot philosophy at the moment. They like to hold player's hand.

Experienced veteran players that spent hours/days/months/years of practicing from earlier seasons now have to deal with low skilled players that can easily one shot them. There's no skill gap and strategy anymore. It's all about brute force and RNG.

Sad.

Unless you play Twitch as a shooter heh

My Waifu Vanilla7/11/2018, 12:46:16 AM1 votes

If you lost for the first 10 minutes why do you feel entitled to still win? I don't get it. The enemy team already proved to be better than you. Not all games have to be winnable I'm sorry so I will disagree. Are games too snowbally....debateably so (it is a subjective opinion), but if a team is up like 5k gold at 10 minutes the game is arguably over and you already proved that you were the "worse" team.

How u can even compare two different genres?

CS:GO has way different mechanics compared to League of legends.

Stillname7/11/2018, 4:27:19 AM1 votes

I know I am getting tunnel visioned on a meaningless part of the post but CS:GO has a ton of strategy... you think people have been playing counter strike for decades because they like shooting the other guy before he shoots you?
