Can we get another tank MR/HP item?

There are exactly 2 tank MR/HP items right now: Banshee's Veil, and Spirit Visage. Spirit Visage has been changed so it's mainly for sustain champs, and Banshee's Veil only gives 300 HP now. This is not a lot of options for tank champions to itemize for MR/HP, compared to the 4 options for armor/HP (even though Ohmwrecker doesn't really count). There should be another option to deal with magic damage. Right now, there is an option for sustain champs and one against burst damage / CC. There is a distinct lack of any options against sustained magic damage, which would be comparable to something like Randuin's Omen. Rito, have you at least thought of adding new MR items?

And I know someone in the comments is gonna be like "what about Zz'rot Portal? what about Guardian Angel? what about Locket of the Iron Solari?" That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about non-support MR/HP items, of which there are most certainly only two options.

Technically there's also Locket.

He's certain though man.

The sad part is we have a wiki for this very reason.

my b, i should have clarified to say non-support MR/HP items

U don't have to be a support to buy it... in fact a lot more junglers will buy it instead given how strong it is and the low income of a support..

it's a supportive item made for a team, not for an individual. it has inferior selfish stats, so it's not good for selfish tanks. yes junglers will get it, but those are tank junglers who will never be as tanky as a pure top lane tank anyways and are playing a supportive role, closer to a tank support than a true tank

So u have 2 other vary viable MR/HP items, ur for wut ever reason those 2 MR items are not enough, then chances are a locket is in the best interest for ur team regardless of ur role. U have plenty of other ways to obtain hp and or mr outside sv and bv

I meant non-support items, but yes you got me by technicality. it's still not a good option for top lane tanks though, or most tank junglers, and you can only really have one per team

Locket is not a support item. It's a team item. Of your support can't get it, or you need it earlier, it falls on the tank (or tank jungler) to get it.

Look at the LCS: if the jungler isn't a carry champion like Nidalee or Graves, Locket is one of the first items they buy

a team item does not count as a selfish hp/mr item. if you want to be tanky individually, you don't get a locket. you get it for the rest of your team

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

If you are an actual tank, you should not be by yourself; your job is with your team.

If your are a bruiser, then the MR items that already exists are plenty for you, as you shouldn't be taking that much damage as you also put out damage

a tank that itemizes for themselves is a selfish tank. for example, sunfire cape is a selfish item. frozen heart is not, and neither is locket. there aren't enough selfish tank items, and selfish means for your tankiness not for your entire team's tankiness

You forgot Locket. HP/MR is pretty strong right now with all the items having good build paths.

Beyond HP/MR we also have Zzrot, GA, Merc Treads, Maw, Merc Scim, Abyssal. There is no shortage of decent MR items these days.

that's more of a support item than a tank item though, but yes it is techincally HP/MR

Locket is a great item for tanks. You will see junglers build it all the time if the support doesn't. And if they don't then it should fall on the Top Laner.

400 HP and 35 MR (including the aura) is not good for a selfish tank. it's really suboptimal for anyone other than a support or a low-income tank jungler

Hyperiön1 votes

It is the aura that makes it good, it grants nearby allies 15 MR, including yourself, so you are up to 50 MR

400 HP and 35 MR (including the aura)

it gives 20 MR, and the aura brings you up to 35 mr, so it is 35 mr not 50

Hyperiön1 votes

Oh right, well either way. It is still a good team item to have if no one is building it.

Gnart Even Close1 votes

it is, it's just best that the support or jungler gets it, and only one per team, meaning that it doesn't really count as a HP/MR item in the same way that Ohmwrecker doesn't count as an armor/HP item

The hell kind of tank are you playing? Tanks are meant to work with their team, not go off and do their own thing like MasterYi or Tryndamere.

selfish tanks build for themselves, something like Malphite. a support tank would be something like braum

I'm actually finding it fine since banshee's still has 70 mr. HP was nerfed but so was its cost and you can just continue building hp elsewhere. Typically didn't need more than 2 mr items before; they were too slot efficient.

I feel it's not even a real nerf since MR itemization was diversified so you better adapt to the needs. It is a nerf though if 6 item slot efficiency is the only consideration.
