for the sake of new players, change summoner spell [Smite]'s minimum level requirement to lv20

notice me Sin pi··32 votes·2,719 views

Right now, due to all the smurfs, people at lv5~10 are forced into jungling when jungle is balanced around masteries and runes, and they dont have access to 3rd tier runes and keystone masteries.

By preventing the lv30 meta for new players, it would reduce the number of flaming smurfs who expect to play by meta, making the overall game experience better for new players.

Smite should just be available at Level 1 on any account. League of Legends is no longer in it's infancy, it has been "figured out" since Season 1, and Jungle is a core role in the game - considering the first Bots game new accounts play includes Jungling Tutorials, Smite should a spell available to you at Level 1.

There also shouldn't even be T2 Runes. Yes, I'm happy Riot removed T1 Runes and made all T2 Runes cost 1 IP, but that's not the issue. Another big reason this game is falling behind in new players is because of how costly it is to not only buy Rune Pages, but to buy Runes as well as Champions for IP consistently. You cannot buy Runes with RP, so paying isn't an option. IMO all T3 Runes should cost around 50% less than they currently do. I'm sorry, but paying the price of a 1350 Champion for a T3 Quintessence is a little stupid.

You already said what I wanted to say. Make runes more accessible and it solves some pre 30 problems.

Moreover, raising the level that players get summoner 11 would hurt new players even more then they are hurt right now because they will play even more games lane only and then be forced to jungle anyways with no jungle experience. Meanwhile jungle smurfs will be four buffing the new players before summoner 11 available (as they already can do).

Agreed.

Or remove tiers from runes and make the "tier 3" runes available from level 1.

Hyperiön4 votes

Even still, masteries are a big part of jungling too.

I kinda like the idea of jungling at low level. My friend, who is a jungle main (you can see here) started to jungle at low levels, around level 13. On the other hand, giving us tier 3 runes at level 1? That's actually a good idea.

The Deckowner2 votes

even if tier 3 runes are avaliable I don't think lower level player have the ip to afford them tbh.

Why would people be forced into jungling?

Why would people be forced into jungling?

I think the idea is that the smurfs will all force the non-smurfs into the jungle or something by taking top/mid/adc.

Amasa Delano1 votes

That could happen. If new players play norms w/the new champion select, though, this would be much less of a problem. It's much harder to bully someone out of their role now than it was before (still possible, just harder).

smurfs don't get matched with or against non-smurfs. Also all these "no jungle, wtf?" are bronze trash ragers anyways.

Cryweil1 votes

Then who do they get matched with if they don't get matched with or against non-smurfs? I mean when I play on my smurf I'm pretty sure that I don't get matched with other smurfs so...... ????????????????????????????????

Spank me hard1 votes

you do get matched with other smurfs. Doesn't mean they'll all be good though. Most are low bronze at best.

smurfs don't get matched with or against non-smurfs

the current system does pretty good job at separating smurfs from non-smurfs, but it's not very accurate either.

Also all these "no jungle, wtf?" are bronze trash ragers anyways.

whether bronze or diamond high elo players would surely understand why jungling isnt viable at lv10, if they flame at new players, then new players get flamed and that will stay the same.

Spank me hard1 votes

it's not accurate because it tries to keep 50/50 balance on W/L. Winning many games in row (let's say 20) automatically means next games will become hell because your enemies get stronger and allies get dumber. Eventually you'll get 50/50 ish W/L because your allies troll, AFK or play like monkeys during mating season.

bulldoggamer2 votes

What could be done is make the player unlock smite by playing through a tutorial on the basics of jungle. Nothing extensive just something to make sure people have basic jungle knowledge when first starting.

notice me Sin pi1 votes

never thought of such but i'd love that even more

bulldoggamer1 votes

Hopefully we can get something like that to happen. I just got alpha client access yesterday so i'll pass some of my ideas off to that team

I agree with this. Im trying to get my brother into the game and its annoying as hell to be lvl 10-13 and have a bunch of smurfs forcing us into roles and then complain when he cant jungle.

Aeszarck1 votes

I think level 20 is a bit too high. When I started playing Vi jungle at level 12-ish, I couldn't do my first clear, but after changing my masteries and getting about three more, I was able to do a clear. I think level 15 is reasonable for most junglers, aside from the squishiest (which can have troubles even when level 30 with full runes and masteries). The price reduction of tier two runes makes jungling a lot easier than it was before because players can constantly increase their base stats as they level up, putting a rune into the newly opened slot each time. Also, we want new players to be able to learn all the roles pretty soon, and level 20 takes a long time to get to.

RainbowIcee1 votes

uhmm no thats not true you are not forced into anything. They cant force you to select that role on that note you can perfectly go top telling people you dont have smite or you dont know how to jungle. If they dont like it well too bad. By lv 30 though its the regular meta we play so its considered trolling to have 2 tops unless a popular player does it. But honestly its fine at lv 10, Im playing over seas on a smurf account and ive seen people learning the ropes decently at jungling the one concept they dont understand though is objectives and ganking but its fine at the early levels.

hell no.

I say level 15. 20 is way too much!!!

I think that really fails to address the problem, though you're correct in identifying where the problem is.

Making it faster to hit level 30 would be better, making it easier to access runes, rune pages etc. would be better. Right now the problem with new players is that it takes forever to be able to actually play the game. Months of work to hit 30 unless you're going really hardcore at it, and like you said, the entire way is peppered with smurfs who expect top tier play from novices.

Honestly, I'm a little jealous of Korea's system. Where each person can only create one account. As much as I've used smurfs to play with friends, it'd probably be better to not have any smurfs when it comes to attracting new players.Which is something that's desperately needed.

Making it faster to hit level 30 would be better

I hate this idea tbh. It doesn't need to be quicker, the last thing people need is more people who rush down 30 and have no clue how to really play. It was already reduced and now honestly, people hitting 30 for the first time just throw ranked games.

Buff Sonas Boobs1 votes

That shouldnt be a problem unless ure stuck in silver or bronze

it be lìke that1 votes

Their are plenty of people who are but that isn't really my point.

Why would you flood ranked play with people who haven't fully developed as players?

Buff Sonas Boobs1 votes

Well it shouldnt matter since they will drop to the elo where they belong, which is probably bronze. It's their own choice to play ranked or not

it be lìke that1 votes

This wouldn't matter if bronze was its own elo but it isnt.

As it is, the few people I know that have decided they want to try League have all quit in their early 20s. They understand concepts, but they can't afford runes and they don't have full access to masteries while being put against level 30s who do. They know what they'd want to use, but can't, and it takes away part of the game for them. When they fail they don't learn much because was it something they did? Or was it just that the enemy had that 15% fewer cdr on their summoner spells because they have all their mastery points and you're a few short of getting that bonus on top of your keystone?

The sample size is terrible, admittedly, but consistent. Being held back from the full game until 30 and then just thrown in to ranked is the problem. Either make 30 easier to hit, or give level 20s complete access to masteries and runes. Reduce cost on runes, or just make them free and have people pay for more pages idk.

Shortening the experience needed didn't really address the quagmire that's 20-29 levels. :\ So, either continue on that path and shorten it further or find another way to give these players full access to the game pre-ranked. The reason they're throwing so hard is because it's likely their first games with the COMPLETE set-up and that's overwhelming in and of itself.

This is in no way accurate at all, i made a new account to play with a friend who was new, and 60% of players we encountered in our first 10 levels were smurfs. How do i know? 100 cs per 10 minutes, and they flamed CONSTANTLY. You can't even get smite until level 10 btw, so being forced into jungle at 5 makes zero sense.

I said it on another post as well, if i started playing nowadays, i would have quit. Don't believe me? Make a new account. You cannot balance games for the progression levels, thats just terrible.

What they need to do is make a required tutorial that shows how to properly jungle before you are even given smite. It should also cover leashing, my friend made it to 25, so i just use this account to play normals with him, i encountered multiple people WITH a keystone, who didnt even know how to properly leash.

That is a problem.

This no way accurate at all

if i got my meaning across, that's good enough

60% of players we encountered in our first 10 levels were smurfs.

so that means the other 40% who get flamed at are new players

What they need to do is make a required tutorial that shows how to properly jungle before you are even given smite.

i strongly agree with that tho

so This must is why noobs suck at jungling mostly

Its better for them to learn now than later. Like if the get in a lvl30game they a suddenly thrust into this new strategy
