Can Riot really blame the community when they themselves promote toxicity?
Just throwing this out there.. THe question has been asked many times. Why is Leagues community such trash, and one of the worst communities in terms of toxicity, hate, and frustration?
Well the problem is many things that all add up, but one of those problems is, that in all honesty, riot themselves promotes toxicity.
Yes that's right..
Where does toxicity come from? It comes from many things. Usually from someone getting frustrated, being trolled, or having bad games.
But it can also come from direct reactions to other players, and their environment outside of those things.
You're playing against a champ that's extremely frustrating to play against. They have very little weaknesses, and bunch of utility or steroids built into their kit. You die by them, and each time they laugh, taunt, or flash an emote when you die.
That's tilting, and it's nothing short of Riot allowing, influencing, and promoting it. You can say "it's the player" but it's not. Riot put these mechanics that serve nothing more than to do exactly that. Flash it at your enemy at any point it seems to fit.. When they die, or lose. Seems unsportsmanlike to me, and against riots own league codes.
You get ganked multiple times, getting no help from your team, and the enemy keeps spamming laughs on your body each time, or flashing a tilting rude emote. This is demeaning, and frustrating, and again is only possible because riot is straight up promoting this by putting these things that have nothing to do with the actual game into the game for players to use.
It over all does nothing but fan the flames of toxicity, making people tilted, frustrated, and in turn blow up at the next team they play with, and can you really blame them? Not really. We are humans. We react to the stimulation around us. When something gets us angry, frustrated, we get upset, and when you try to be mature about this, tell your team you're upset about something, and they in turn antagonize you for it, or make fun of you, or the enemy doing the same, is only going to get that person even more ticked off.
Problem is the report feature doesn't pick up on half of these things for a riot employee to actually look at, and the flag doesn't go through. People know this, and abuse it. You can talk "Nicely" to someone in chat, but you and the person you're trolling and antagonizing will know that you're really making fun of them, and talking smack.
"Aww don't worry you almost had me!" "Maybe next time kid!"
Etc. to an opponent who's already frustrated, pissed off, and annoyed is demeaning and unsportsmanlike but does not get picked up by the flag report.
If Riot seriously wants to be taken seriously about toxicity in their game.. they need to look at what they're allowing into the game to begin with, and more importantly how they detect, and act towards people who do these things.
cheerful children that has something deeper and darker underneath all that innocence,
unsung heroes that desperately try to save the world from itself,
explorers with overwhelming curiousity and a lust for finding new artifacts and
inventors seeking to make the world a better place, each having their own reasons, ideals and motivations aswell as ways to do so, to one-dimensional sheets of paper suffering from borderline depression.
